Thank you, BP Amoco in Osceola, for being so close to the Minnesota border. And for selling beer. Due to outdated liquor laws harkening to the times when people had to read outloud to one another for entertainment because no one had internet or television, you cannot buy liquor outside a bar on Sundays in Minnesota. This proved to be problematic when some friends who just moved to a farmhouse in Scandia decided to have an impromptu BBQ. «Great, I’ll get some be-,» I stopped, remembering this great state’s liquor laws. As an adult, what is a BBQ without beer? A church picnic, is what that is. Fortunately, Osceola, WI is just a ten minute drive away from Scandia. The BP is right on the other side of the St. Croix. My eyes misted up at the six packs of Spotted Cow. And at the sight of the fishing bobs we would soon use as a poor substitute for ping pong balls. Bless you, Osceola BP.
