A good meal, good service… not sure what all the complaints are? OK, so I went in on a Thursday evening, probably not their busiest night of the year. I was the youngest person there by like, 80 years, I think… but the food was really good(they serve breakfast all day, hard to go wrong there). Service was decent, didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes forr a menu, then she was back promptly to take order, etc.). Food came within probably 10 minutes and was hot and tasty. No complaints there either. The place is a bit on the«old» side, both in the building itself and the clientele, but overall a decent experience.

Not sure if this place is an Osceola tradition or something, but my meal was not good. It took an hour just to cook a steak and grill some chicken. The waitress was awful, the salad bar old and the greens gross, and the prices were way too high for the quality. I will not be back ever.

The food was OK but the service sucks! Our first waitress came and took our order but was never seen again until she came for our plates. I wanted some biscuit gravy and never got it, also ran out of water and had to wait until another waitress got it for me. Bathrooms are very run down and freezing cold! She should have checked on us instead of having her own breakfast at the bar and congragating with her co workers who were all hanging out talking about different places to eat. My father owns a restaurant and had he seen that there’d be pink tickets given out this morning. Highly impersonal and unprofessional! Does no one strive for excellence anymore?

On our way relocating from Minnesota to Oklahoma we stopped for a bite to eat. As evidenced by all the big rigs the food was home cooking at it’s best. Simply scrumptious!

Took me and 2 of my kids here tonight to eat. It was about 6 pm or so, right about dinner time so the parking lot was busy. The first table we sat at was dirty so we moved to a bigger one. An older lady brought us menus, didn’t greet us, didn’t smile or say hi. Her only response was«she will be with u now a few minutes» then turned and walked away. She was quite rude I thought. After about 5 minutes or so, our waitress finally came to get our drinks. At the table behind us a big group came and apparently she forgot about bringing our drinks bc she showed up for them w silverware and menus. After she gave them those and took their drink order, she came to our table(still no drinks for us). My 8 yr old daughter wanted spaghetti and meatballs to which she told us it would be atleast 25 minutes bc they didn’t have any pasta cooked. So the waitress went to get our drinks(finally) so my daughter could decide on something else. So we decided on a kids chicken leg for her, a burger for my son and french toast for me. It took about 20 to 25 minutes for us to get our food. Finally got our food from a different waitress bc ours was too obsessed w the bigger group(after all, we were only 3 people where they were a group of 8). Now, I don’t ever complain about my food but my french toast was cold. So cold that the butter wouldn’t even melt at all! Even the inside was cold and gross. So when the 2nd waitress came back to check on us, I told her it was cold. To which she apologized and took it back. Another 10 minutes later, both my kids were done eating and I finally get my meal. Still not hot on the outside but mediocre hot on the inside. In was only supposed it get 2 and got 3. Our original waitress brought that back for me, followed by the 2nd waitress and our original one told me «u ordered french toast? Only 2? Well u got 3 and I don’t know y but here u go.» Needless to say we were not told thank u by her, I wasn’t apologized to by her so I left nothing for a tip. And when I went to pay, the old lady that brought us our menu didn’t acknowledge me or say thank u. I’ve eaten this place many times and have never had these issues. But idk if I will be going back any time soon. On a side note: the large group behind us, 3 of them had their food when we left. 2 of which were done and the other had sent his food back bc it was cold. The other 5, yeah they were still waiting.

Driving up to Nana Greer’s I could smell bacon before even getting out of the car(windows up and everything)! I am not even a bacon lover. But by the time we were seated, my decision was made, it smelled that good. My breakfast here was one of the best I have had. Really perfect simple fare, hash browns crispy on the edges, perfect toast and eggs, and the best bacon. Seriously. My husband had stopped in once before during a bicycling trip and brought me here as we were passing through the area. I am definitely a fan! Service was good and prices average. The only negative for me was oddly dilapidated, less than clean restrooms, which did not fit this place at all.

Just traveling thru and stopped for a bite. First off we waited for about 45 minutes before anyone waited on us and rhen we waited even longer for our food. The chili my husband ordered was terrible and the table in back of us wasnt cleared off the whole time we were there

Salad bar was very good. Also got cheese burger with homemade onion rings. Burger was good. Onion rings kinda blah. Person with me got roast & mashed potatoes. He said it was good. They brought out a just made strawberry pie & we had to have a piece. It was delicious. Atmosphere was great. Waitress was wonderful. Good place to eat. Enjoyed stopping.

Read reviews & still came in. Place is clean. Service was great. Efficient, friendly and helpful. Huge servings does not describe. Pancake covered large plate. And was very good. Bacon cooked perfectly. Definitely a new breakfast place for us.

Sometimes there’s reason to go with chain restaurants when you try a local place and it’s this bad. Flies everywhere, very expensive for the terrible food. My boyfriend ordered the turkey melt, literally two small pieces of processed turkey lunch meat on two pieces of Wonderbread style bread… for $ 8. My Dijon Chicken was so bitter I couldn’t even eat it, and I normally love Dijon mustard, and that was $ 11. We would have had more and better food cheaper going to Subway, and that’s just sad.

By far the best place to get breakfast in Osceola! The amount of food you get for the price is unbelievable. I have never left there hungry! In fact, 9 out of 10 times I leave with a doggie bag! The food is better than home made.

I think things have turned around at Family Table since a lot of these reviews were written. I was expecting the worst when I walked in, but we had a pretty solid breakfast. The place was definitely clean and bright and while the service was a bit gruff, the food came out quickly and had very large portions! The hashbrowns were the clear winner and came mixed with a hearty portion of all sorts of veggies! I ordered the biscuits and gravy and got the full order. Huge! I took 2 whole biscuits home with me. The eggs were decent and when you order coffee they even provide your own kraft on the table for refills which is nice. Nothing out of this world, but definitely a solid breakfast stop on I-35. Will definitely come here again. and trying the cinnamon roll next time!

If you love a hearty breakfast, this is the place to stop and it is right off I-35. Breakfast is the only meal I have eaten here but every time we stop here the service is great, the food is satisfying, and the prices are fair. I love the fun and feisty wait staff. They treat you like family. Don’t go expecting elegant dining. The feel is reminiscent of an old fashioned Mom and Pop truck stop that fed you well. It will continue to be a stop for us as we travel through! It

Don’t be fooled by granny in the kitchen and the number of Buicks or pickup trucks in the parking lot. This place wreaks, was dirty and featured extremely poor service. Keep driving up or down I-35, but don’t bother stopping here. The only thing granny didn’t screw up was the toast. Consider a vending machine before eating here.

Vile, filthy surroundings, and cooking with the bare minimum in mind. Bacon tasted like old grease; pancake batter was too old, making the giant pancake taste chewy and flavorless; scrambled eggs were stingy, flat like a deflated balloon and completely unseasoned; frozen hash browns were soggy in the middle. Other reviewers seem fooled by the décor into thinking the lazy cook in the back is a sweet grandma chef. Don’t believe it!

«Really good food and service. Had the burger and onion rings. Both The onion rings and burger were hand made and were very good. Hard to find a good burger. Saw other food come out looking just as tasty. Homemade desserts looked wonderful. Just ran out of room!»

A quick hop off of i-35 at Osceola Ia, will put you in view of Nana Greer’s Family Table. Anything that looks like it is run by an old lady, to me, means good cooking… so of course, I had to stop. The parking lot was packed. that is also a good truckers, but plenty of Buicks… If the old people eat here I am still in the right place. Menu consisted of a large array of breakfast items, sandwiches, and the usual diner dinner entrees,(open faced roast beef, chicken fried steaks, chicken) Being on the road with at least another hour of driving to go, Breakfast was not an option, it puts me to sleep) Menu said the burgers were charbroiled, not fried… and yes they were had a good flavor. The most memorable thing here was the cinnamon roll. It says on the list they are a meal in themselves. I asked the waitress how big they really were, and she held out her hands with a measurement. Not so big, I thought, ordering one. When it came out 12 inches square and 4 inches high. It wouldn’t even fit in the«to go box» that she brought with us. we only ate about a fourth of it. Generous in the cinnamon and icing departments… Now the best thing $ 4.99! It ended up feeding four people in the next 24 hrs and ended up being breakfast treats for three dogs. they loved it too.

«Cookin’ so good yule think we stole your mother!» — sign painted on an interior wall of the Family Table. +4 Stars: On a recent trip for breakfast I had a cup of coffee, half order of biscuits and gravy, two scrambled eggs with crispy bacon. The coffee was pretty good for foodservice grade java. Generous serving sizes for the food for the price. A tasty small town breakfast! –1 Star: There’s an ice cream machine in a corner that’s really LOUD. It’s hard to have a conversation over the roaring grind. Doesn’t being able to hear people speak trump the need for ice cream? We were soooo kewl: In high school my friends and I used to eat breakfast here and take shots of Half & Half creamers. ***Un-chain and support local businesses***
