I am a regular Menards shopper — decent sale prices and they have many staples we need(bird food, cleaning supplies, lumber, etc.) Had an experience today that finally made me write a review. Short version of a long story — we needed two carpet runners due to our hardwood floors being too slick for our dog post surgery. Bought a 24 footer, and needed a 21 footer as well to form a «T». 21 footer needed to be picked up later, needed to wait for a new roll to come in as they did not have quite enough. This was on Feb. 14, 2015. New roll came in two weeks later, but was from a different dye lot, so it was a different shade of brown. As the rugs intersect in my great room, the difference was TERRIBLY noticeable. I returned to Menards, concerned. Manager called by carpet department. Immediately remedied the situation by replacing the«first bought» runner with a new one to match the dye lot. The runner had been used for almost two weeks, so it certainly cannot be resold. No worries, they replaced with a smile and wished our dog well. VERY impressed by their customer service. Yes, it cost them the price of a carpet runner. However, the positive internet feedback, and my return business, is much more valuable. A plus, Menards. Highly recommend this store.

We just bought a house, so we’ve been averaging two trips a day to Menards for the last 10 days. And let me tell you, this place is the best! First of all, it’s HUGE, so they have pretty much anything you can think of, you just have to find it – and that’s where their army of employees comes in. It’s usually pretty easy to find someone, and unless what you’re looking for is clear across the store(in which case, pack a lunch or plan on stopping in the patio furniture for a break!), they actually walk you TO the item in question, rather than giving vague directions that result in having to ask three more employees on the way. Also, everyone who works there actually knows stuff about their products and whatever project you’re trying to do, and is happy to advise you if you need help. Or just show you what you need and leave you the heck alone, if that’s all you want. The returns desk is very friendly, even if you don’t have the receipt — they just ask for ID and give you store credit instead of cash. Make sure to grab your receipt when you check out, since the way the registers are set up, the cashier doesn’t hand it to you! You know you’re there a lot when the returns clerk recognizes you… In case it’s not obvious, I think Menards is great, and I would come here for anything hardware, home improvement, or yard related. And you should too!
