Did the hibachi and was a lot more fun than the one down the road that hasn’t changed how they do anything in decades. Ryan was our hibachi chef and he was a total blast! Dinner was great and the sushi was very good also(and I am a sushi snob)! Reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because of the bar. The bar is pretty small for large groups and the bartender lacked energy and enthusiasm. He could have had an off night, I don’t know. Was my 1st time there but he didn’t smile once, didn’t verbally offer to get us a drink, seemed annoyed when more people came in and… does not know how to make a specific specialty drink the same each time. I would like to go there again, probably will because the hibachi is wonderful but I do hope there is a different bartender the next time. If not and he’s still Mr(lack of) personality and experience, I’ll add to my review and post his name the next time since I didn’t get it then.

Hands down the best sushi in Oshkosh. I go here pretty often, especially for lunch. They have three rolls for around $ 11, including miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing. The hibachi is very good as well. You get a lot of food for the amount you spend and even some free sake squirted into your mouth! Servers are usually quick, but I have dealt with a young(most likely college kid) bartender that is very rude and made us a wrong drink and still made us pay for it! Otherwise my experiences here are always great!!!

Love that I can order right from the Unilocal app. Amazing selection of sushi. I stop by when I can.

I visit here about once a month. The sushi is always good but the service is not always as satisfying. One night we stopped in for some sushi and one poor girl was waitressing the whole dining room. It took a long time to get our food and I never got a refill on my wine. The girl was obviously stressed but kept and smile and was doing the best she could. Other times the service is fine! Maybe they had some staffing issues when they opened up the new place across town? I don’t know, but hopefully they got it figured out. You can also call and sushi for take out. It’s quick and just as good! In a town where you have a variety of places to go for sushi it might be a generous 3 stars but for Oshkosh I give it a solid 4.

I eat sushi on a regular basis. Throughout my travels I’ve had the pleasure of being able to try many different sushi restaurants. In my opinion Sakura does everything right. They have a friendly staff, reasonable pricing and phenomenal food. I’ve yet to try something that wasn’t delicious. It’s also the only restaurant that I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad experience or a sub par meal. It is great to have a big city caliber sushi restaurant in a small town. It’s family owned and they are always adding new things to the menu. My personal favorite is their Crazy Roll. If you seek something unique and fun for an appetizer I highly recommend the Sushi Tacos. If you plan on visiting on a Friday or Saturday I would suggest calling ahead or making a reservation as they can become quite busy. If they happen to be too busy for your liking they’ve recently opened another restaurant that is less than a 10 minute drive from Sakura. The name of it is Ichiban. At that location they serve the same quality sushi with the added bonus of authentic Chinese entrées. Overall, I highly recommend trying either location. You won’t be disappointed.

I have ate here before dining in but because I traveled alone on this business trip I ordered take out chicken hibachi. I thought it was pretty skimpy from what you get when you done in. Food was still good.

Being a Midwestern native with time under my belt on the west coast, I have always been a little leery of Midwest sushi(don’t worry, I’m equally leery of California BBQ). These guys pretty much nailed it though. We went during EAA, so the staff was running at full speed and everyone was a little road weary. But they were all very friendly(in true WI style). We had a few miscommunications trying to order some rolls for the resident vegan, but our waitress cheerily fixed everything without hesitation.(The AAC– avo, asparagus, cuke– came out initially as cream cheese, asparagus, cuke. But they took it right back and made the correct one.) They were also happy to confirm ingredients for everything we asked about. The rolls were decently sized and very well priced. I’m pretty sure the avocado salad had half a Haas on it, so how can we complain? :-) We ordered some to eat in and some to take back to the rest of camp, and all were well prepared and presented. The to-go food held up perfectly for the drive back, and they remembered all of the condiments and utensils for us. We did not try hibachi but we could hear lots of oohs and ahhs from the next room, so it seemed to be going well. Definitely a keeper for return visits.

We went during EAA Airventure and chose to have the hibachi experience. With reservations we were seated immediately. The décor is acceptable and on first impression the restaurant is clean and appealing. The restroom could have used some attention but they were pretty busy so I’ll reserve judgement for now. Our waitress got our drinks to us quickly and had our orders in the kitchen with no delay. Our hibachi chef was funny and talented and each protien, whether shrimp, beef or chicken was perfectly prepared. Their two sauces we’re both tasty as well as their ginger dressing on the salad. You also get a bowl of soup that is good. Most of our party had fried rice, but chose the noodles instead and was glad. They were quite good and a different choice than is normally available. As a non rice eater, this was a plus. Overall, I’d recommend the hibachi if you are in the area. I’m hoping to return next year for sushi and will ammend the review to include that experience.

Love this place! The food is excellent, customer service is great! Everytime I have friends and/or families over who crave a good sushi experience, I’d take them here! I love their hibachi and their sushi!

I ordered the one of the sushi entrée plates. It was appealing to the eye as well as delicious. I also enjoyed the fish soup and the ginger dressing on the side salad. The service was excellent, our hostess and other staff were more than accommodating. I have not experienced the hibachi and I’m not sure I will based on what I have heard, but I will be back for more sushi!

I ordered the California Roll for pickup. It was a decent size, larger than I expected and tasted really good! I also ordered the Fried Oysters. It came with about 6 of them, they were fairly good. Will definitely be returning for future orders

I took my girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day and it was both of our first times going. If you’re expecting the level of Osaka or Nakashima over in Appleton, think again. The atmosphere is almost cheesy, which for me, the atmosphere of the place is half of the experience. The food however, was fairly decent, and the pricing is just under that of the two earlier restaurants I mentioned. As far as hibachi in Oshkosh I think this is your only option unless you feel like driving into the Valley more. If it were me going again, I’d probably make the extra trip. I’m not saying it’s bad, but there’s better.

Fantastic sushi rolls. They were absolutely delicious. We got the spicy tuna roll, oshkosh roll and a sunshine roll. They were all amazing. The fish was very fresh.

Had the California roll and chicken fried rice. Went in with my spouse. Pro: it’s pretty good and good price for this roll and for their fried rice. Con: it’s pretty packed and you can be easily forgotten by the server. Server didn’t refill water, only towards the end when we were about to leave. When we received my spouse fried rice, it was cold. It sucks when it’s packed especially their space is pretty narrow.

Beautiful inside. Lunch specials are pretty decent, but my California Roll didn’t look very fresh. The other rolls I had(spicy salmon and shrimp tempura) were pretty good. Many of the rolls were too pricy a la carte. I would definitely come back just because I don’t mind imperfections in restaurants.

We got the backside of the chef which took away the fun(plus it was freezing cold) service was very nice but slow. Food was great.

Decent food here but it is pricy. I haven’t done the hibachi here but I hear it’s mediocre. Also, the sushi is pretty decent and well-priced.

We finally got around to trying this place on Saturday and were very disappointed. The food was not very good. Bland, poor texture, and not fresh all around. The tempura shrimp was pretty good but everything else was just bad. The California rolls were mushy, the steak was dry and bland, and the miso soup didn’t have any flavor. The hostess wasn’t very knowledgeable about the menu either. I’m glad we finally tried this place, but I won’t be going back.

I’m leaving this review for my family mostly. They love this place, it’s their favorite sushi place around. I’ve been with them before and I think it’s pretty good too. My mom is pretty picky when it comes to fresh fish and restaurants in general, if there’s anything off she’ll throw that shit in your face. But she likes this place so that says a lot. They have my favorite salmon skin roll so that’s cool!
