Smokey Row Coffee House

Great coffee shop right in the middle of Oskaloosa. I only did coffee when i visited, but they also do a wide array of food options.
The space is very, very large and in a distinguished looking downtown commercial building. Suitable for meetings of up to 20, maybe more, the open floor space is capped with a beautiful old fashioned movie marquis on the inside of the place. It’s hard not to take a picture of it.
If you’re in Oskaloosa and in the mood for a place to work, hold a meeting, have coffee, or grab a bite, you won’t want to miss this spot.

Had to run and couldn’t stay long. Really nice open space. Had lots of cakes in the display that looked amazing.
Ordered a Single espresso and it was served in a nice demitasse cup. Good dark blend, a little bitter, but tasted nice. I also ordered a medium latte… The steam wand was caked in milk and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned all day. I asked if they could clean it before they make my drink and they obliged, but if you’re a legit coffee house. you need to serve clean milk and not reheated steam wand junk. No bueno.

It’s a Sunday evening and this little gem is still open. Serving food, ice cream and coffee to families, those taking time to catch up on work and web warriors.
Great food, quick service, and family friendly. Quiet, relaxing and pleasant. Try a specialty bottled soda or plug in to the kettle on he wall and ignore the world around you! Loved it.

My favorite coffee house ever! I bring the kids for ice cream shakes, my husband gets their yummy cherry cokes and I get my Dutch Chocolate Mocha. The food is an added bonus (for someone who used to be a Starbucks girl) but the atmosphere is off the chain. I can bring my laptop and the background music and people chatting kind of makes the whole place nice and cozy comfortable. The people who work here are ALWAYS super friendly and service is quick. I brag about this Smokey Row to my friends back home all the time because I just can’t get over how awesome it is. If your heart beats a little faster and there’s extra pep in your step when you know Smokey Row is going to be a part of your day how can you go wrong? So happy I live so close!

Wow best frozen treat place I’ve been to. Who knows how many i would of had if I didn’t fill up on the pot pie and cheese burger chowder. Great surprise!

I love the Smokey Row! Every time I’m in Iowa I have to have the cheeseburger chowder in a bread bowl as often as I can. They also have a great line of clothing which I have several shirts, sweatshirts and hats. Great choice of sweets as well. I don’t drink coffee so can’t speak to that. Love the atmosphere too. A gem.

Food was to our group before we even sat down and it was nothing short of great home-​cooked meal.

Smokey Row is a wonderful meeting place for friends. The atmosphere is fun and energetic. I have enjoyed all of the beverages but am not particularly wowed by the food. Their speciality is coffees, teas, etc. and you would be best served to stick with the specialities.
If you are looking for great décor, a sense of community, an informal meeting place, a wi-​fi connection and a cup of coffee… this is your place. If you are looking for a delicious meal, look somewhere else.

Great place for a lunch meeting. Met iowa’s future Senator Bruce Braley there today. Obama spoke here twice. Regular meetings with state legislators when the legislature is in session. Anyone who wants to be president will speak here sooner or later. (Hillary, are you listening?) Decent wifi. But mostly it’s a place for a tasty lunch and to meet friends.

The atmosphere is absolutely perfect, it has cozy décor but is spacious for conversation/​reading privacy. Unlike a small Starbucks. However I’m not a fan of the coffee or food choices I’ve tried (nachos, turkey sandwich or egg breakfast meal). It’s just ok tasting and definitely nothing special. I’m a Starbucks fan but since their is not one in Oskaloosa, I just go to Quick Trip, it’s convenient, the calories are in my control with their small/​efficient coffee island near the coffee machines.
I would recommend Smokey Row for a conversation with a friend, an open afternoon for reading, live music or a tourist stop.
I also see kids having their birthday parties in the back room, which is kinda cute!

Great desserts and coffee with an awesome décor filled shop with classic piano tunes filling the background. A perfect coffee atmosphere.

On my way to the middle of nowhere and stumbled on this shop. Great find and coffee.

This was a great little coffee shop. Good sandwiches and fun root beer (both bottled and tap). The soups were good but very thick. Didn’t try the ice cream but it looked good. Surprisingly fun for middle Iowa.

This is not the greatest coffee shop/​sandwich place I’ve ever been to, but I do like it. The ambiance is great, the coffee is excellent and the food is good. If you find yourself in Oskaloosa, this is a pretty good place to spend some time

I love this coffee shop and it’s a great place to grab a bite to eat too! Their Ice Cream selection is always great– and the service on the coffee is great! The people behind the counter know what they are doing and even will get me my soy drink with no whipped cream! Smokey Row has some shows in the evening– there is a stage and a piano. By far the best reason to hang out at Smokey Row is the free wi-​fi– which is a bonus to any coffee shop! I love the variety of seating arrangements and they even have a meeting room that you can request if you know your group is going there! The local college students love the loft area– and many of them use that space for study groups!
