The ½ chicken and shrimp is hand down the best! The homemade chips are to die for! A must if you are in the area. Owners and staff are the nicest people! Mom knows how to work that grill!

Chicken was great over salad. Steak was well cooked. Rice and beans simple and delicious. Service was quick and thoughtful. It really looks like the thing to get is the rotessierie chicken.. .and that’s what I’ll get next time, but what I did get was great

This is the closest to authentic Portuguese bbq you’re going to get around these parts. Amazing rotisserie chicken, grilled chorizo, Portuguese«chips» along with rice and salad which is surprisingly really good! Simply dressed, oil vinegar and salt, but they get it right every time!

Great place to eat for your Portuguese cravings. Two thumbs up!!! Try everything. Even the Coffee taste great too. It’s not even pricey here.

If you are looking for delicious rotisserie chicken this is the place to go. The staff is always friendly, you feel like part of the culture, clean, love the color of the walls, and I challenge you to beat the price for chicken and a pitcher of wine which is not bad. You can find parking in the lot less than a block away and don’t let the size of the front distract you because there is a larger room in the back. Takeout also. Just be aware and check I think they may be closed on Tuesdays.

Love the steak and egg fried combo at this place. I prefer to take out and usually takes about 30 minutes… But love the food and definitely worth the wait

We call it «the chicken place” — and the chicken is really special; grilled on coals right behind the counter by the friendly owner/chef. Octopus salad is awesome every time. We often order a bunch of chickens and sides either eat in or take out for large family dinners and it just feels like home cooked family food. Killer comfort food.

Fantastic rotisserie chicken! I love this place, it’s like sitting at someone’s kitchen. The owner is your host and she is preparing you her traditional dishes. I enjoy watching the ownwers(husband & wife) cooking these authentic portugeuse dishes and having my taste buds greatly satisfied. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous! Entrée’s are served with a delicious house salad, so apps are not always needed… but I wouldn’t skip the cod fritters, they are delicious.

Unbelievable! This is one of our favorite places ever. The octopus is so so delicious! Wine is great, food is great, service is great-there is nothing but good things to say about this place!

Great menu – though often sold out of some specials. Reasonable prices & great portions. Delicious. Eat-in or be prepared for a long(1hr +) wait for take-out.

their grilled chicken is the best I’ve had outside Portugal, their circle-cut fries are also very good and a good selection of Portuguese wines which blow French wines away IMHO. The back room is a little dingy and can get loud as it’s just cement walls, but after all the years they’ve been in business, couldn’t they afford an answering machine? Quite a few times we’ve tried to order from them and no one answers the phone, no message, nothing. Are they closed, or just being anti-social? no idea. Very strange way to do business in the 21st century.

One of my favorite restaurants! The only reason I gave them 4⁄5 stars is because of the portions when you stay in are far smaller than those when you take out. I love their short ribs and their potato«chips». The food tastes so flavorful and fresh! I love this restaurant and I frequent them often!

Friendly service. Really feels like one of those places that Guy Fieri might visit on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It’s got a real local feel. Loved the olives set out with the bread basket. Bread was actually pretty good as well. Some sort of dense whole wheat variety. I unfortunately ordered the wrong item off the menu. I got the wild cod. It arrived at the table and hadn’t been de-boned. It was my fault for not asking as I’m used to establishments that serve filets and not whole fish.(It did not have a head thank gosh!) I took a couple bites and it was fishy. I was more turned off by all the bones though and kind of scared that I might chew on one, cut my mouth or swallow it on accident. I quickly gave up and instead ate the buttery, garlicky and perfectly cooked i.e. not mushy broccoli and the also-soaked-in-butter boiled potatoes. Both were good, but I left the restaurant hungry. My husband ordered the rotisserie chicken(order this!!!) and it was great. Portions are large and meals are reasonably priced. The restaurant has a more casual pizza-parlor like anteroom and a more formal dining room in the back. It holds about 10 – 12 tables and all were taken during our visit. Good sign, right? I would return to eat the chicken.

I been to many Portuguese restaurants and this one has been one of the less pleasant restaurant to dine. Does not reflect what the Portuguese culture is and its cuisine. It should improve its surroundings. I found the place not comfortable and the owners should think about improving the interior. The food was alright, but I wouldn’t have the urge to return. I didn’t have that WOW moment.

Great, homey Portuguese Restaurant in Ossining’s downtown. Whether you’re a Portuguese food aficionado or you’ve never tried it before, if you’re near Ossining I recommend coming to this place for some authentic Portuguese food, and at very decent prices. I recommend the bife(Portuguese steak with a fried egg on top), camarao a guilho(shrimp in garlic sauce), and the lulas grilhadas(grilled squid). Also, don’t forget to have a sumol de ananas(Portuguese pineapple soda) or Sagres Portuguese beer with your meal! And if somehow you’re still hungry for dessert, get a mouse or flan. You won’t be dissapointed!

OCTOPUS! PULPO! POLVO! Ate lunch here once with a friend. I can’t even remember exactly what I got(steak of some sort), it was good but obviously forgettable. My friend got the octopus and out came the appendage of a creature out of 20,000 leagues under the sea. It was monstrous and delicious. Perfectly cooked and prepared. If they duplicate this experience consistently, it is more than worth a visit.

Grilled chicken is tasty, and good value. Not OMG amazing though! What WAS to die for was the octopus salad… but then this does cost $ 20! Vegetables that came with the chicken were a travesty. Inedible, overcooked mush. Wine was drinkable, and pretty cheap. Service a bit slow. Even though it’s just round the corner, we haven’t really had the urge to return!

Stumbled upon this place while driving back from Tuthilltown Distillery and the West Point campus over a long weekend. The food is amazing! The ambiance and service is lacking though. We ordered the grilled calamari and the roasted chicken. These dishes were full of flavor and very tasty. I will warn you the grilled calamari is not for the faint of heart: you will get the tentacles and whole calamari bodies on your plate. For us, it was such a delight to get more than just a calamari filet. As for the roasted chicken, I could have had that for days and not been sick of it. It’s so moist and a great intro to Portuguese cuisine. Overall, a good neighborhood joint for tasty food.

I usually do takeout from here. The rotisserie chicken is incredible. I also recommend getting the Portuguese chips and the rice and beans. Also if you are ordering a whole chicken call ahead. They usually take 30 to 45 minutes to get your order.
