Tired of White Mountains tourist attractions? Want to go somewhere with no cheery façade whatsoever? Ted’s is the place for you! Essentially a double wide with a hand-built plywood entryway, we may have driven by this discount shop if it hadn’t been for the hand-painted 18 wheeler parked on the side of the road. Redneck enough for you yet? We’re always up for a good knife shop, and Ted’s didn’t disappoint. Knives generally ranged from $ 3 – 10 and were actually solid wood and metal. The pocket knife M bought for $ 6 would have easily gone for $ 30 – 40 elsewhere. Definitely worth the stop. As far a the other goods in the store, there were stained glass lamps with confederate flags, off-brand cans of soda, tons of tarps, and other dusty things you don’t need. I do have a place in my heart for stores like this(I used to work at a closeout shop in NJ), but don’t bother if you scare easy. If you’re looking for antiques and things that say«I went to Ossipee!» to hang above your mantle, just keep on driving.

Your typical hillbilly store. You haven’t SEEN a hillbilly store until you’ve seen this place. They sell toothpicks and suspenders. They also sell dirtyish babydolls, lawn ornaments, and Market Basket brand soda by the can. I’ve never been able understand the basket of Desert Storm pins being sold to prominently 20 years after the war. But they sell various knives and assorted weaponry that my boyfriend enjoys looking at. My brother also loves this store because he can stock up on air soft guns and pellets. Maybe this store would be my favorite, too, If I were a farm girl or a tom boy or an ex-marine But what am I saying? My family drags me here just about every time we’re in NH. Which is quite often actually. I guess Ted’s has become a part of home.
