We don’t have a very good sub shop near us, so we decided to stop in here on our way back from an hour at the park with my son. Their menu has quite the variety! When made correctly, the few subs we’ve tried have been delicious. We’ve been twice, and ordered to go twice. Of all 4 visits, someone’s order always was incorrect. We’ll definitely still be stopping in for food, but it’s now a running joke to see which one was messed up.

I can’t say enough about the Oswego Sub Shop. I had to make a special trip to the town of my Alma Matter just to have a sub. I got my usual — a turkey sub with everything. It was simple, but everything I remember. This place is obviously a hit with the locals and college students. Love!

Being a New York City chick, you hear sub shop and you’re like«Okay it’ll be like going to get subway.» Oh no. I couldn’t have been any more wrong. The Oswego Sub Shop is the holy grail of subs. Al Roker has even made an appearance here and has a sub named after him since he did go to Oswego State University. This place is well known to all the college kids since it’s located in a college town. Anytime I’m in Oswego this place is a must-stop to get a cheeseburger sub foot-long with the works. Packed with flavorful ground beef, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, hot peppers, mayo, and Parmesan cheese(ketchup upon request). Now that’s the works! As you bite down into the soft hero bread your taste buds will go nuts for the yummy goodness of the ground beef and all its tops. It’s mouth warming good. It’s literally sub heaven! I have never had another sub like this and don’t believe I ever will. The customer service has always been friendly anytime I’ve been here. It’s always been busy but they’re very efficient in getting the orders together for their walk in customers. They also have daily soup specials, a variety of salads, and tasty Buffalo wings.

Ordered last night for delivery, it took almost 2 hours. They never stated they were busy, with no college kids in town I don’t know how they could be that busy. The hot food was cold and the subs had hardly any meat, lots of lettuce though. They used to be the best in town, but know I think I’ll stick to subway.

Haven’t been blown away yet. Tried this place a few different times. They barely put any meat on the subs. Need I say any more? I want a SUB not bread with some meat on it.

I took everyone’s advice and tried the cheeseburger sub with the works. Delicious! Yes, it makes good late-night food, but even perfectly sober, it’s a darn good combination. I also tried the wings(they were out of Sal’s) and they were OK, but the salad was very good.

Ahh, the sub shop. Being a Junior at SUNY Oswego, I had to give this place a try. I ordered the highly praised cheeseburger sub with the works. To start off, I thought the bread seemed soggy. But once I bit into my sandwich, it didn’t matter. Fresh meat, fresh veggies and then thin bread grew on me. It’s more expensive than subway, and I think the sandwiches are smaller, but this place has solid sandwiches. If you’re in Oswego, its a must try. This should be 3 ½ stars but I love Oswego so we ill go for 4.

Not the worst place I’ve ever eaten, but overpriced and not brag worthy. This was my second shot. First time here was for the scrawny cheeseburger sub everyone raves about, but $ 9 for a skimpy sub? Fortunately, I was able to sample the chili which was the only reason I came back several months later. This time I brought two kids in and we all ordered chili– one barely touched hers, another wouldn’t finish it and I was disappointed that someone really sweetened the chili(something I despise). For almost $ 15 bucks before tip– a decent sized bowl with silverware, sour cream and cheddar might make this worthwhile. I’d have been better off eating at a finer sit down establishment for that price.

Just ordered Sals wings but thats not what was delivered. They delivered crappy breaded wings thinking we wouldn’t know the difference. Crappy way to do business. Very disappointed!

I absolutely live their cheeseburger subs. I always eat the whole thing and that is a lot of sub! It’s a little expensive but totally worth it. I am always pleased with my sub!

Great tasting sub and super friendly service. I just ordered a cheese sub so wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary. …but it was! Crushed hot peppers, provolone, parm cheese, oil, onions, lettuce — on wheat. Mmmm The cashier, Bill, was awesome. Told me a couple jokes and offered some recommendations. Great experience for an out of Towner.

An all-around great place to get a meal(especially late night after a beverage or two). The cheeseburger hot sub is both unique and exceptional(and also terrible from a healthiness perspective), but the hots sauce rivals the best hots places in Rochester and the toppings the mayo is just a perfect paring(along with the rest of the great toppings). The bread is great, nice and doughy while still maintaing a lightness. The rest of their options are also pretty much amazing, the hot subs are all awesome choices. And the fries… might be the best fries in America. Perfectly crisp. Perfectly salty.

I do love the cheeseburger sub. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it just tastes amazing. It’s just like it says, it is cheeseburger morphed into a sub sandwich. The bread is light but still has body to it. The people here are friendly, the service is fast and the prices are low. Great Value here. I would drive half a day to eat one of these subs!

The subs seem a bit pricey to not come with any sides off the bat. I usually hit them up for their half Italian sub with all of the toppings they are willing to give me. usually I love their subs, this last time, it was so-so. The good times outweigh the so-so time though. Their crowded lunch time speaks for itself. Nice folks, and they take cards also.

Ok, so the SubShop earns 5 stars for being a College Students dream. Maybe not the best place for a family dinner and not the highest quality ingredients, but the Sub Shop served me very well while I was a student as it has for 1000’s of others. Personal favorites include the Al Roker, Cheeseburger and Turkey and Cheese.

If there’s one thing I desperately miss about my college town it is Sub Shop. The place delivers and is open til 3 am. They seriously have the best subs I’ve ever had. The buffalo chicken sub is probably the most popular. It is REALLY hot and really delicious. The bleu cheese is the best bleu cheese I have ever had. Get it with the works, onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato, mayo, hot sauce, is your mouth watering yet? They offer whole wheat subs which is awesome and they let you swap out grilled chicken. The meat here tastes way better than Subway and is a lot more fresh believe it or not. People think sub shop is just a place for late night junk food but I have gone here and eaten heathy; whole wheat sub, grilled chicken, mustard, greens, there ya go. There chili is perfect and you can’t pass up on their fries. Almost forgot about their cheeseburger sub. Or you can make it a bacon cheeseburger sub. Dangerous, but SOOOOO delicious.

Oswego Sub Shop is one of those places that you had to have gone to or ordered from at least once throughout your undergraduate or graduate career in SUNY Oswego. They make amazing subs and are conveniently located on the west side of town. I usually order the Eric Cole special, which is a cheeseburger sub(surprise surprise). People aren’t lying when they say these cheeseburger subs are the best! Seriously, they have a rather large list of items to choose from, low prices, and convenient location. If you’re passing by Oswego towards somewhere else then do yourself a favor and stop here.

Hmmm, definitely wouldn’t say this place has the«best subs.» Honestly in my book, it’s really hard to mess up a sub sandwich. I LOVE sandwiches man and for me it’s all about the quality of the meat. This place is okay. The roast beef is wicked dry, mayo and/or oil doesn’t save this sandwich. The chicken cutlet? Pretty darn delicious. As with most places, it all depends on how you like your sandwiches. Love mayo? This is the place for you, skip the«extra mayo.» It would probably be too much. The reason why I gave this place 4 stars was because of the one sandwich most people can agree on and that’s the Cheeseburger sub. My all time favorite sub in the entire world is this delicious, fatty, sloppy sandwich. No place has ever come close to making a cheeseburger sub as delicious as these guys. They’ve seemed to have mastered what a quality cheesburger is all about. Most places cook up the patty, cut it in half and place the half pieces of meat on your bread to make their cheeseburger subs. This place uses ground meat. What IS that reddish sauce they use? Whatever the ingredients, I get the works and I’m in heaven. Great for all those drunk college kids, as it is open way late and on the way back to campus. As a side note, the last time I went I paid almost $ 9 for my whole sub, about $ 11 or so with a drink. A little pricey, but for this sandwich, it’s totally worth it. Can’t wait to have another and then take one to go!
