Physicians Immediate Care-- Oswego

Every year it’s the same thing. I get a cold, which turns into a long, drawn out thing with an awful cough. The kind of cough that makes your chest burn. The kind of cough that wakes up everyone, and you can’t fall back to sleep. The kind of cough that occurs in the middle of the night, suddenly, and you’re coughing so hard that your body is practically convulsing and the bed is squeaking.
It usually happens once a year. This year, twice. After 4 days of being sick, I decided not to let this try to work itself out. I went to Physicians Immediate Care in Oswego.
It’s a clean, professional facility with friendly desk and nursing staff. The doctor I saw was equally friendly and maintained a polished appearance. I explained my symptoms and history with the doctor. She tried to prescribe me these cough pearls, but when I explained that the cough was most disruptive while sleeping — and I want to sleep — she prescribed me Chertussin — the holy grail of cough syrup.
She also gave me a prescription for a Z pack IF I wasn’t feeling better in 2 days, so I wouldn’t have to go back to the urgent care again.
I’ll probably be back in about a year when the tri-​county area can hear me hacking up a lung again.

I am really frustrated by the poor/​unresponsive customer service experience here, and do not intend to return to this business. There are much better options to choose from in the Oswego area.
One example: On 10÷20÷15, Physicians Immediate Care charged my credit card for the balance that remained after insurance went through. It took weeks of phone calls and emails to finally obtain a receipt for that transaction, which is required for reimbursement through my FSA.

I have visited this facility with 3 of my children and once for myself. The staff was extremely helpful in helping my children to get seen quickly, the receptionist was so friendly and helpful when my two year old wasn’t feeling well. I really appreciated the extra attention to detail by the front receptionist Myeisha, who made sure that our visit was exceptional and that I understood every step of the process fully.
Thanks for making a crazy day better and offering smiles when everything seemed so crazy and chaotic.

We walked into a clean, bright building and were immediately greeted with a smile. The check in process was efficient and we waited less than 5 minutes to be seen. Dr. Macvenn was very knowledgeable, courteous, and sympathetic to our medical need. Within 10 minutes x-​rays were completed and we had a plan of care. I would highly recommend Physician’s Immediate Care to anyone.

This place is very convenient only 4 minutes from my house. The nurse’s and doctors were very nice. The facility was clean and the service was fast! I was even able to fill my prescription right there. I would definitely use them again if the need a rises.

The people in here act like they are dying. I was in here already yesterday with a very rude male nurse. Now I had to come back to finish filling out paperwork and the receptionist just takes it and continues doing her job. Doesn’t say it will be 5 minutes, obviously not cause it has been 15 and i am still sitting here. The doctors are great! But over all service is horrible! !

This place was great! The facility is clean and the staff is nice! It was also cool that there was no wait! I’m not from the area but if I was I would definitely return!

I second the shady billing practice, however they did send an email of the pending withdrawal. I visited here twice with nothing other than a vague diagnosis, referral to their physical therapy provider and a hefty bill. After choosing alternative treatment and calling back to Physicians to ask for a referral to a specialist I was greeted by the receptionist/​x-​ray technician who took it upon herself to voice her opinion of me not follow their skeptical diagnosis and treatment. When the MD called me back she informed me the x-​Ray tech has some medical experience and hereby is justified in providing medical advice to customers. Buyer beware entering this quick oil change medical facility.

Service was fine. It is the billing that is a disaster… I was billed just under $ 300 for service since I tried going through my insurance company. If I did not attempt to go through insurance I would have paid «only» $ 150 cash. When I saw the charges passed down by my insurance company, I called the billing center for this company and they gave the standard template response: «we can’t do anything since it already processed».
I have used similar urgent care offices/​clinics in smaller cities where the charges were $ 50 cash, no insurance information taken/​required.
I won’t be using Physicians Immediate Care again. Walgreens Take Care Clinics have a longer wait, but have reasonable pricing.
