We’re done trying with this place. We typically do carry out. They used to deliver, but that isn’t an option with their new menu. The teriyaki chicken we ordered came to us hibachi style with no flavor. It was chewy and gross and a lot of tendons, so it definitely wasn’t a breast. We added a side of teriyaki steak for $ 5, and got 4 pieces of meat. We asked for extra teriyaki sauce and got soy sauce. The California roll was hot, and the avocado very mushy. Not fresh tasting at all. We’ve had problems with the quality of this place going down over the last year, but I think we’re done. It was nice to have good Japanese food that delivered. Now it’s mediocre(at best!) pickup. We’re halfway between this place and domo, so if I need to do pickup, I’ll just go there. Very disappointed!

The sushi was wonderful. The drinks were superb. The prices were standard. The lady who seats people could not have been more unfriendly. It was our anniversary dinner so we both looked perfectly presentable, but she treated us like we were hobos off the street. She rolled her eyes and held up two fingers(to ask if it was a party of two would have required too much energy). She then snatched two menus, walked to a table, slammed them down, impatiently gestured toward the table, and walked away having never said a word. She did this with everyone who walked in the door. I’ve frequented many Japanese restaurants and they are always very welcoming, so I don’t think it was a cultural thing. This lady was just rude. Our server was very nice, but it took her a long to bring us a pencil for our order sheet(because the ray of sunshine who seated us had not put one with the menu) and then another 20 minutes to come take our order. I give three stars only because the sushi was really, really excellent. Nothing was chewy or fishy tasting. That«hostess» either needs a serious attitude adjustment, or a job where she isn’t exposed to the public.

I’m a vegetarian and I love this place! They have a nice selection of vegetarian options. I love that I can order online. I work right down the road, when I get off They have it ready for me and I take it home to eat.

Fresh salmon, ikura salmon roe, tropical mango, cream cheese, daikon sprouts, sweet onion & mayo — great!!! California Maki Philadelphia Maki Una-Q Loved it all! Great service!!!

Food was good, music kinda loud. Waitress seemed to take forever to get payment. Random blonde sitting at desk by entrance, assumed was employee but didnt do anything, didnt greet, didnt seat, didnt accept payment, didnt serve. Why was she there watching people, kinda frustrating to be watched but not helped when waiting to pay check.

Fresh sushi. Fave is godzilla. I like to ask for no fish eggs though. Personal preference. The fried rice is delicious and full of flavor. Always friendly service. My husband never thought he would like sushi and he craves Sakamoto all the time. They have a few things for kid’s too if they don’t like sushi.

Meh. Below average sushi, average service, price not commensurate with quality. If you like over-priced low quality fish, way too much rice, and prefer over-sauced rolls then this is the place for you.

Absolutely delicious! Everything I have ordered from here has been excellent. Took my kids for hibachi and the filet was tender, not chewy. Fried rice was excellent! ! We did the vegetable one ad there were tons of veggies. Love it!

This is our go to sushi place in the Oswego area. The service has always been polite and efficient. It’s even better now that the nail place next door moved out and I no longer have to breathe in chemicals with my rolls. Sushi has always been fresh and the miso soup is delicious! They have several rolls made with mango and they are very refreshing.

I was extremely disappointed in my service. I asked for a refill on my drink and was refused by the Manager because it was too late. Mind you the waitress never came by to ask me for a refill. my glass was empty for 30 minutes. The quality of the food was so so. i also felt the staff was really rude. I wouldn’t give them my money. there are plenty of good sushi places in the area who are much more friendly.

Love this place, date nights always end up at Sakamoto sitting buy the sushi bar. Always get the teriyaki chicken, shrimp or scallops so I really can’t recommend anything else. But we always watch the sushi platters go past us and they all look delicious(and look like artwork).

My favorite sushi spot and close to home! Always great attentive service. Sushi always tasty, we can put it down. I love salmon dream! There miso soup is tasty on a cold day. Decent prices as well as far as sushi goes. I feel like i’m there at least once a month! Try it out.

I used to order or eat from here at least twice a month and was never disappointed with quality of food. However they are supposed to be a delivery as well as pick up and have it on their store doors and website yet have no delivery drivers anymore. So when you place delivery order, they actually call and say you need to pick up. They give you a rehearsed speech as to why they can’t deliver because no one wants the position and they tell you they have had a hiring sign up for a month with no luck. Sorry but not sorry, if you say delivery on website and on ur store door you must deliver to your customers. No longer a customer now

My husband and I discovered this wonderful little sushi restaurant in Oswego today. It’s in a strip mall in the out lot by the Home Depot. Not much from the outside, but once we entered, we knew we found a neighborhood gem. The restaurant is nicely decorated, very clean and quiet… I’d say a trendy space where you can actually enjoy a dinner conversation. Our server Megan was very friendly and attentive. We started with shrimp tempura and miso soup. The tempura was so light and flaky. The only negative from my whole dining experience here is that there were just three shrimp tempura in this appetizer. I thought that was a little too skimpy, 4 – 5 yes, but three just seemed a little too little. The miso soup was flavorful and a good size. My husband and I shared two specialty maki and two regular maki, Red Zebra, Dancing Eel, Alaskan and Spicy Crunchy White Tuna. These rolls were presented beautifully and artistically with rose petals and a fruit carving. The fish was extremely fresh and the flavors just exploded in my mouth. I savored every bite. I highly recommend the Red Zebra with spicy tuna, yellowfin tuna, super white tuna with unagi sauce and tobiko(fish roe) and the Dancing Eel with bbq eel, tempura shrimp, avocado, cream cheese with a mango sauce, unagi sauce and a spicy mayo. Both of these rolls were outstanding. Our first dining experience here was so wonderful that we determined this little place surpasses Kiku in Naperville and Chef Soon in Woodridge. Sakamoto IS that good!

Completely unexpected, quality sushi joint with a quiet clean atmosphere. The location is almost secretive and it’s just begging for traffic driven by word of mouth when discussing nearby«good sushi». Typical loaded rolls with sensational naming conventions but quality and taste reign supreme — surprisingly good. In the retail jungle off 34 get some good sushi.

I’m traveling for work by myself so I figured I’d try something different and review as I dine, so here goes! I found this little gem in a strip mall nestled among all the corporate giants and food chains. Don’t judge a book by the cover because the whole in the wall look from the outside is actually very warm and welcoming on the inside. The sushi menu is large, and the first thing I looked at caught my eye and I ended up ordering it. The«smokey samurai» has smoked salmon, fresh crab, cream cheese, and avocado wrapped in rice and fried in tempura batter. It’s then topped with snow crab, two sauces, and bonito flakes. When it’s served, the flakes actually move almost like their alive. It’s really cool! The roll was delish, the combo of sauce leaving almost a spicy bbq flavor lingering in my mouth. Really tasty, cooked very well, and served beautifully. I also had the house miso soup and it was also very good. Nice balance of flavor and good fresh tofu. At this point I was pretty full, but the very helpful and friendly waitress offered desert. Banana tempura with vanilla and coffee ice cream. Sold! This thing was huge! The banana was the hero, as it should be. A nice ending indeed. I almost hope I end up staying in this hotel again at some point so I can come back here and try more food! If you find yourself in the area check this place out, it’s earned it’s high rating.
