Before I came to this hole in the wall market, I just assumed that Berkshire County was too far away from the Boston or New York fish markets to get anything good. I love fish. But, I wrote off the entire county. This place had the freshest fish that I have found in the Berkshires. The shop is small and not very glamorous. It is easy to pass it by. But, the food is incredibly good. My faith in the county is restored. So that you can judge, I am a fierce critic of fish markets. Things have to be busy off the dock fresh. This place does it. BTW, the fried scallops are amazing and the bellies are sweet and juicy. I only wish that they weren’t in the middle of nowhere. How about some place close to Pittsfield.

This place has some of the best seafood around. Now, I didn’t ask them where they get it from… You’ll know why when you taste it — FRESHASCANBE!!! If you get the shrimp steamed(for shrimp cocktails) its PERFECT. I had a party and I asked them for a Shrimp Cocktail platter and a poached Salmon — you cannot imagine how delicious these two items were — went the quickest at the party! People are great and SUPER knowledgeable! This is a no joke fish market.

I use this vendor all the time for both take out lunch/dinner and retail seafood items. They have the the best seafood I have ever had. New England at its best. Tastes like it was right off the hook.

If you are looking for seafood from Great Barrington to Lee Ma, Darryl’s the place to go. Relatives ordered cooked lobsters from them and were very pleased. Have been pleased. Will be pleased in the future.
