So we got stuck in this small town with car trouble and walked into this cute restaurant just looking for a place to hang while our car got fixed. It’s so cute! The staff is friendly and the small amount of food we got(we weren’t that hungry) was so good! I wish I was more hungry… I would have ordered so much! Someday I will drive through this town again and I will stop here! Enjoy! :)

I would have to say that it is not bad. I have only tried it once and first impression was that it was okay not the best or the worst food.

Service was great, the food was amazing. I had the linguini with clams in red sauce. In town for business and this place was recommended to me. Definitely worth it.

My journey to Luigi’s started by overhearing a co-worker talk about an Italian restaurant in nearby Ottawa that was really good. Not having stellar near-authentic Italian in Topeka, and having to go to KC to get it, my ear perked up and I immediately Unilocal’d and found Luigi’s. The reviews matched the conversation I overheard, so I bookmarked it and told myself I needed to go sometime. That time presented itself last week when my wife and I had some time to ourselves without the kids. We headed over and arrived around 7pm or so. Parking was easy to find and we were seated immediately upon walking in. Our waitress Victoria was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were hungry so we tried the fried calamari for an appetizer, a favorite for my wife. It was delicious, cooked just right, not overly breaded and light. The bread and dip that comes out is just wonderful as well. I’ve never had such a dip like that, it could of been an appetizer too itself! My wife got the Pasta Sempur, which is three different dishes in like a sampler platter. She enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Shrimp Champagne and it was perfectly cooked and you could tell it was made with love and a well trained culinary artist. We had a couple glasses of wine with the meal, and they were excellent. We were in such a great mood, that we ordered a cannoli and the tiramisu for dessert, both great. We rarely ever order dessert anywhere we go so this speaks volumes to how this place made us feel. The atmosphere is no frills pleasant, very quiet, no TVs that I could see and it perfect for a quiet dinner with your loved one. The prices are reasonable and the food is top notch. The cherry on top was that as we were driving down the Ottawa main street, Victoria actually chased us down and returned my wife’s purse she had accidently left at the table. Wow, just wow. Management. KEEPHER!!! After a horrible experience at an unnamed Italian place on the KC Plaza recently, this was a welcome breath of fresh Italian air!!! We will return again, I guarantee it.

We found this gem on our way to Wichita. The food was outstanding. I had Chicken Pomodona(spelling??), noodles were perfect and the sauce was on point. My husband had the pork fettuccine special and was amazed that the 2 went together so well. He’s not an Italian fan and couldn’t quit raving over his meal. The oil and herb blend for the bread was honestly delicious. Although we were stuffed, we took dessert to go. Haven’t eaten it yet, but it looks great. Definitely worth the 3 mile drive off the interstate.

Luigi’s is one of our favorite restaurants! It is located in our hometown and a great place for a quiet dinner or a group meeting place. For larger groups, they have a room in the back and an upstairs available. The owner is actually from Italy and there is a framed photo of a map of his home behind the register. The food: Most everything on the menu is very good. My favorites are the Chicken Piccata(light, lemony goodness) and Shrimp Champagne(creamy and sinful). My husband loves the Lasagna and the Roman Trio. After ordering, they bring the most amazing bread knots and oil. Definitely a highlight of visiting this place! Also, if you like wine or want help choosing, their staff is knowledgeable and is great at explaining they type of wine you might want. Pricing: Pricing at Luigi’s is across the board. You can order plain spaghetti with meat sauce for $ 9-ish to lamb ribs for $ 24-ish. They have a wide variety of dishes for vegetarian and meat loving carnivores! Dessert. Get dessert! They have the most amazing tiramisu! Yum-O! Coffee rating is average/nothing special.

Staying in nearby Baldwin City for work and the person who owns the b&b we are staying in recommended Luigi’s. Great call. Two of us had the salmon and two of us had the pasta special — pork tenderloin and penne in a Pernod cream sauce. The pasta was outstanding. My colleagues loved the salmon. In an area with very limited solid food choices Luigi’s stands out. Very extensive menu. And nice wine.

Hidden Gem! Luigis competes with the best of them. Fantastic authentic Italian food, nice atmosphere and the waitress was great. We will definitely be back.

I really wish we had this good of an Italian restaurant in Lawrence. Seriously! Yummers! This was our second time to eat dinner here. EVERYTHING has been delicious. Bread — excellent. Cesar Salad — great. Champagne Shrimp — to die for! Bruschetta wine — just wonderful! Oh yeah, and the Chocolate Mousse cake for dessert — there is a heaven. Get over here and keep this guy in business! FYI, we split everything. Portions generous.

This place is wonderful! The calamari is perfectly fried not greasy at all. My bf and I shared the Luigi’s special and I highly recommend it. The sauce is creamy and delicious. We also shared the combo plate with meat lasagna, manicotti, ravioli and spinach lasagna which was also very good. Décor is very cute and clean and our waitress was very friendly. If you are ever driving near here you definitely need to try it out.

This charming place got our 5 star rating as soon as the bread with dipping oil reached our table. The stars would have increased exponentially if I could use more of them to rate. The waitress and chef were beyond helpful and legitimately concerned about our enjoyment of the meal. They cheerfully worked with my food allergies, were prompt and attentive, and oh so nice. Both of our dishes were the kind that make you sit back in wonder – the pasta sampler and seafood de mare. So authentic and esculent. Eat here.

Wow! An excellent dinner from start to finish. There is a nice ambience which makes you forget you’re in Kansas. The menu is extensive with the exception of the wine list. My husband is allergic to tomatoes, and there were several non tomato base dishes from which to choose. I had the Luigi’s special with sausage and a creamy marinara sauce. Delicious! And portion size was more than generous. We finished with a piece of not too sweet lemon cake — limoncello. Very enjoyable!

The food was amazing! Very delish and more traditional style. The bread and dipping oil was absolutely the best I have had. Prices were very reasonable and the staff were very nice and quite attentive. I love that they had Italian beer!

Really good, nicely prepared and presented food. My family and I didn’t know what to expect, and were pleasantly surprised. We have not had Italian food this good since leaving Chicago 13 years ago. Everything was excellent — we had chicken pomodoro, linguine with clams, shrimp florentine, and Mediterranean pizza. For dessert we had cannoli and tiramisu(homemade!). The coffee was nice too, and worthy to stand with the excellent desserts.

Our new favorite restaurant in town. We plan on many more visits. Tremendous value for the quality and amount of food. The house salad dressing was particularly tasty. With quick service, a warm atmosphere and candle light, Luigi’s offers its dinners an elegant and unique experience in the area.
