Great breakfast. Fast friendly service. Corn beef hash was crispy on the outside, eggs scrambled well.

Depends on whose cooking. No continuity in the taste of the same dish. I order a dish with mashed potatoes. Tonight they were brown like it was the bottom if the batch singed. The gravy looked a strange darker yellow poultry color. I do alot of carry out by time I get home I don’t want to go back out. I’ll give them another chance and order another dish… MAYBE

This restaurant reminds me of an old country buffet type of restaurant with honey oak colored wooden seating and a simple and easy-going atmosphere. The service was good and the staff was really friendly and when we were seated for a wedding rehearsal dinner, despite the fact that there were 25 people or so, service was still good. As for food, I had chicken soup, a cheeseburger and fries. Soup was decent, reminded me of what you get from a chicken noodle soup can though in terms of the look of the bowl. The burger was too well done for my liking, so it was pretty average tasting. It kind of reminded me of what a lot of average bbqers produce when grilling burgers. The fries were good, They were cajun style and quite tasty. Overall I’d give this place 3-stars. I think a restaurant’s star rating is based heavily on food quality(70%) and with some rating based on service and ambience. Service was 4 – 5 stars, atmosphere and ambience was 3 stars and the food was average at best, so 2.5−3 stars for that.

I came here with my brother and 4 sisters, we had a nice time. Friendly waitress, good food. Good times. Menu had something for everyone, my sisters are very picky, and they were all satisfied with their food, Trust me this doesn’t happen much for a Vegan, a Vegetarian, a Pescatarian and a average but picky eater.

Good food, good service, and a very reasonable price. Check it out! Glad we found it with Unilocal

The food here is ok, the fresh soup reminds me of canned soup, but again was ok. I got the ribs they look great, and we’re seasoned good, but smothered in sauce. I was up here for the weekend and this place was a last minute decision. I would eat here again, but it wasn’t anything special.

Great place for breakfast. The Mexican skillet and pancakes are fantastic. Can’t go wrong with much of anything of the menu!

Sunfield has a large menu that is a lot of your average family diner stuff. The food is reasonably priced and they are trying hard to do as much«house» cooked as possible. The location is a bit odd for those coming off I-80 since you have to cross over many of the commercial areas and I actually missed the place the first drive down the street. I ended up getting the seafood platter. It had perch, sea scallops, and shrimp. I didn’t feel the shrimp and scallops were breaded there. seemed like they were more of the frozen variety. The perch was good. I was going to try a dessert, but the waitress didn’t even ask and just gave me the bill, so I ended up not getting anything. Probably better in the long run. Service overall was okay though. It seems as this place is good for those looking for okay food while in central Illinois. Something better than fast food. Not a gourmet meal though. If I end up driving through this area again though, I might try it again.

Really good, fairly priced food. Homemade soups are great(we love chicken noodle and cream of spinach). Salads are large, great house dressing. Kids(toddlers) love eating there too — always a plus! Nice staff. Clean facilities.

It’s kind of what you would expect. I just ended up disappointed. Although the menu was so vast as to be overwhelming, i was hoping for an all day breakfast menu. Anyhow, my gyros sandwich was satisfactory. The taste was just like that of an urban Greek place. Wife got the half slab ribs, taste was ‘ok’ for oven cooked and her fries were impressively delicious. We each got a cup of soup. The split pea was decent — the croutons inside surprisingly amazing. The ‘chicken and Stars’ soup was really great. The staff was pleasant. My complaint is that I just think the price was high for the level of(not-so-much)satisfaction. Lower the price on the soda and ribs OR make the rib and side veggies really delicious. I don’t think I’d return. It’s just too much cost for too little pleasantness.

Disgusting, over-cooked frozen food! The vegetable medley that came on the side was cooked so long that the colors of the vegetables were all wrong. The mahi mahi was cooked too long and tasted terrible! The positive: the staff! Everyone was very kind & attentive, you can’t find that everywhere. They definitely are an asset. I truly hope they are valued there.

We’d spent a long, busy day in Chicago and were traveling home when we stopped off the highway for gas and decided to grab a quick bite to eat. This was the only restaurant nearby that wasn’t a fast-food joint, so we decided to give it a try. Sometimes, you just get lucky and find a real gem! Sunfield is one of those homey, family restaurants loved by locals. The décor isn’t fancy, but the food is great and affordably priced. The staff was also very friendly. We’ll be sure to stop back in the next time we’re traveling through Illinois.

We had been staying at the Hampton Inn all week and while their free breakfast is not bad, we really wanted something a bit fresher. After looking at reviews online we decided to give Sunfield restaurant a try. We were seated immediately and got drinks right away, but it took our server almost 10 minutes to take our order as she had three tables of food come out all at once. Once she was done, and she did apologize, we ordered. I got the pork chop and eggs and my wife got a Denver omelette with egg whites. We each got the pancakes. The food came out in good time, and was very tasty. The pork chop was moist and tender, and the Denver Omelette was stuffed with fresh vegetables, ham and cheese. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and very tasty. Our coffee cups were never empty, either. I highly recommend the Sunfield for breakfast when you are in Ottawa.

If you want breakfast, go here. Skip the usual chain joint like Denny’s or IHOP and hit up this locally owned restaurant that beats them at every turn. The atmosphere is homey, the food selection is broad, the service is wonderful, and your money goes into local pockets and not some corporate headquarters.

Hey this place was good! Seated right away on 4th of July weekend — my husband & I. We came in around 11 am for breakfast. I had the cinnamon bun French toast. Yummy! Not very healthy but the side of scrambled eggs complimented the dish. My husband had the house skillet with chicken & green/red peppers. He liked it. I took a bite and thought it was good. Coffee was great too. They had the international delight creamers & half & half. I love options. My coffee was never empty as the service was very good. Robin our server was phenomenal! We are visiting from Chicago so if we ever come back this way we know where to go!

Solid American restaurant. Nice quick service and good food. They didn’t offer me the breakfast menu so make sure you ask for it. We had two specials. The Tuscan omelette was yummy and the cinnamon roll French toast was perfect. We had too much food to eat!

Good breakfast spot and dinner spot. We have two kids and they are always so nice to us. For breakfast I reccomend the skirt steak and eggs. I don’t know what they do to the steak but it is always delicious. I usually get it rare and it is perfectly cooked all the time. Their omelets are to die for. Always made with fresh ingredients. Special instructions ?? No problem. They are happy to make them how ever you want Monday and Tuesdays kids eat for free. Only complaint is side veggies are not fresh seem to be canned. Try the Sunfield salad. Grilled chicken and bacon on it. Yummy. !!

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast while visiting my inlaws. I was washing up when the waitress brought our order. Immediately my husband notices she brought french toast instead of pancakes for me, he pointed it out the the waitress politely and she said«No, she ordered french toast» At this point I came back to the table and the waitress asked me «Did you order french toast or pancakes?» and I answered«pancakes» She replied«I wrote down FRENCHTOAST» and showed me her paper as if this were proof. I don’t even like french toast but when she sighed heavily and asked if I wanted her to get me pancakes instead, I told her it was fine, I’d keep the french toast. I didn’t want the hassle and we’d been waiting a while already. The scrambled eggs that came with my order were so overcooked and dry they were brown. Completely inedible. The french toast was cold. My husband had a skillet and his eggs were overcooked as well and the potatoes were very cold as if they had been frozen. There was no way either of us were eating the food. We didn’t try and complain because just wanted to get out of there and go to Cracker Barrel for something edible. We paid the check and left. $ 20+ to learn the lesson that they can’t even cook at a beginner’s level.

I ordered a 12-oz rib-eye and it was charred perfectly and melted in my mouth. My friend ordered the gyro platter and she said it was the best gyro meat she’s tasted, and both of us frequent Greek restaurants throughout northern Illinois, especially in the Quad-Cities. One interesting thing — I ordered the clam chowder instead of the chicken and dumplings soup, and my soup had clams in it, but the surrounded liquid tasted 100 percent like what a blended chicken and dumpling soup would taste like. I know this must sound absolutely disgusting, but it was awesome. I couldn’t convince my friend to try it, though, but I ate everything.
