Are you in the mood for good food and great service? Then what the hell are you doing going to applebees?! Seriously though after two attempts the sandwiches seem okay but they can’t cook a steak to save their lives. Their steaks taste like they throw them on the grill frozen because it’s like chewing a tire.

Often visit this Applebee’s because it’s close to home. I get a cheese burger with fries about every time and it’s cooked to my liking. They have never messed up on my order except for forgetting a side of ranch a couple times but it gets there right away after requesting again. My serves are always nice. I recommend the sweet potato fries for an appetizer!

It was the most disgusting meal I’ve had in a long time! I had the fajita chicken roll up that was supposed to come with chicken, lettuce, cheese. It came with 3 inches of melted shredded cheese maybe two chicken chunks and no lettuce AND it was microwaved so the shell was hard. It was so gross. We will not be going back. I wish I could give it negative stars. Over priced and disgusting!

The only reason I gave it one star is because negative stars were not available. The service was not bad it didn’t exist! I sat at the bar which I know can become hectic for the bartender. That is acceptable to me if he was actually doing something. He then called from the end of the bar What do want to drink? I ordered a drink and he said we’re out but will have it tomorrow. Don’t know if he wanted me to wait until then or what. I ordered something different and he fixed someone else’s drink and then went to the kitchen. He came out with nothing in his hands but was eating something. He then started visiting with the girls that worked there and still didn’t get my drink or offer a menu. Another person asked if he could please get his check. With the cavalier attitude and absence of service I decided to go elsewhere.

This review from a frequent traveler. Not great, but not terrible. Took a long time for a wait person to come over, but after I spoke to the hostess and young guy Dakota took over service was good. Soup and salad were fine, as well. Not great food but met expectations. It’s Applebee’s, after all, in a small town in Iowa. I would eat here again, especially considering the alternatives.

I went here twice over a two week work trip and the servers were fine, they were attentive and we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. We were there between 5 – 7 pm both times and were happy with the service. once they forgot to put in one of the meals for my table of 6 though. They did correct the mistake rather quickly but my co– worker had to eat by himself.

Woah, dude.
I’m not normally a huge fan of such a this type of establishment but one DOES require nourishment at the end of a long day.
Service: Woah, dude. Terrible.
Food: you already know…
Drinks: got a free drink at the bar from the waitress. +1 star
If you have pissed off your God, and end up in this part of the universe — pray that it’s your last time. If you are in need of food, go elsewhere!

Bad service and the chicken was rubbery. If you are brave enough to give it a try, enter address directly into google maps as Unilocal provides the wrong directions.

Applebee’s has a good mix of standard American fare as well as some other treats from around the world. I normally love ribs, but the ribs at this Applebee’s are rather dry and tasteless with little meat.
This place stays busy most of the time, but the staff has always been friendly whenever we’ve visited. If you’re going near a weekend evening, expect a wait time of around 30 minutes as average. That seems like a small amount in general, but for Ottumwa it is quite long.
