Subway

This was the first place I ate at when I came to Ottumwa back in 1994 since I was a big fan of their veggie and cheese and it was the only place I could get a fresh sandwich and nothing that’s consisting of fast food all the time. Not everyone is crazy about making their meals of burger and fries constantly, and that’s the mistake of many when they see college students they think all they want to eat is pizza, burgers, fries, and sodas. Giving Subway’s reputation it’s a good place to get a freshly prepared sandwich or salad for a reasonable price. Since it’s situated on the corner of Northgate Street and the interstate next to the gas station at the light.

They must do a good job hiring. I’ve almost always found the service at this Subway to be better than the service at other Subways. The food is the same, though. This place is brighter and cleaner than average. BTW, though I like «Quizno’s» I find that Subway, especially this one, is far more generous with its toppings. I don’t want a tiny scoop of onions picked up with just the fingertips. I want some dam onions. There, they are generous. I guess like Tara J. said earlier, this is the only Subway I frequent in Ottumwa.

Like the gentleman before; the only time I’ve experienced stressful service is when the owner makes an appearance. The girls in the evening are almost all on top of their game and do a darn good job of taking care of each customer! For the ones that pull less weight the others cheerfully help pick up the pieces. The ONLY subway in town I frequent!

This is Subway… so you know what to expect. The food is on course for what you would expect from a subway. My experience has shown the employees to be amazing and friendly women.
My only issue is when the owner is in the store. She tends to hover over and micro manage her employees to such a degree that they become bad tempered and the service goes downhill. When the owner is not there the employees are amazing and dedicated.
I have gone as far as to not stopping when I see the owner in the building simply because of the negative mood she brings in her wake. Beyond that, I love this subway and go often.

Stopped in there around 2pm today and the two ladies who was working were very rude. The tone of voice was not pleasant, no how are you, no smile, they slammed the toppings on the bread, acted like they did not want to work. The other one asked if the other lady wanted to make the sandwich she said no then stated jesus i suppose i’ll help. They did not thank me for coming in, when i entered the store one lady rolled her eyes to the other one standing in the back room and stated to her oh here comes another one good god. I think this Subway has the rudest people ever. If the work is that bad maybe these ladies should find another job. I mean there are plenty of unemployed people out here looking for jobs. It’s a shame that the American tax dollars go to pay people like that to work with the public. I know if I was the manager they both would be fired. I hope that they eventually learn the real meaning of customer service. You don’t treat customers like garbage. Trust me your next meal maybe coming from a can because of your rudness to a customer. Just remember unemployment can and will happen if you get enough complaints. I will be calling the manager on this and not returning to your store that is run by immature lazy people.
