We are long time customers of Jose Peppers. We’ve been going since my husband and I dated in the eighties at the original location and, now, bring our teenagers. From tacos, burritos, quesadillas and enchiladas to their specialties like tequila lime chicken, the food is always good. One of our favorite places!

Have been to this place many times. It’s very close to my place … Their food is awesome. They also have lot of vegetarian options …

Pretty solid Tex-Mex. I had the Pollo Magnifico, which would have been very good if the chicken wasn’t so dry. The dish also was far more bland than I had hoped and expected. That applied to everything. The entrée, rice, salsa, etc. However, their quest dip appetizer was quite good. Fairly bland, but still a very good flavor. Nothing was bad, however nothing was excellent either. They have very good thin tortilla chips, and the queso appetizer was worth the trip, but there are certainly better options in the KC area for your meal. Perhaps this would be a better venue for drinks and appetizers, rather than a full meal.

This restaurant has strong leadership, starting from the top with Alayna’s ability to create a positive and exciting environment for guests. All employees, my boyfriend and I have encountered have led to experiences that keep us coming back. Jose Peppers depicts the ideal atmosphere that applies to all customers, assuring they will do anything in their power to deliver the perfect experience.

I went to Jose peppers the other night with a few friends and the service was questionable. The staff was practically scrambling on where to place us. The waiter threw the silverware on the table along with the menus. The waiter was very rude. Only half of us received straws and some crumpled napkins. Then we waited 20 or so minutes just to place our order. Overall the food was decent but the service did not live up to my expectations. I would leave the waiter’s name, but he didn’t have the decency to introduce himself.

Tonight was our first time at JP. Service: The seating hostesses when we first entered the restaurant were very friendly. The server was a young dude with blond hair. He was nice and brought lots of chips and salsa. We waited about half an hour for our food which is kind of long but not too bad. They were super busy. What struck me as odd was the amount of really really young kids working. I noticed a seating hostess who looked about 14 and a couple of waiters who couldn’t have been older than 14 or 15. What really confused me was the(I’m guessing) 12 year old wearing a chef’s coat carrying meals to the tables. This kid has not gone through puberty yet and here he is working, carrying trays of hot food to the tables. Not to mention, my fiancé is an actual chef and it’s kind of an insult to have a kid wear a chef’s coat when he clearly has not gone through the extensive training to earn that title. Not sure about the child labor laws here… Anyway, our food was brought out and one of the orders was incorrect. My friend mentioned to the little boy about the inaccuracies and he did nothing to fix them. Then when walking away from our table he spilled my fiancés full water cup all over him and the floor and did nothing to clean it up. In fact, no one did for another ten minutes until a manager noticed by almost tripping on it. Food: pretty decent. The guys liked their fajitas and my Avocado and Chicken enchiladas were pretty good. It’s pretty funny that the avocado is billed as a main ingredient of the dish on the menu but was represented on the plate by the tiniest scoop of guacamole. I will say that the guacamole was delicious, we ordered it for the table as an appetizer. Price: I didn’t see the final bill since our friend paid but the prices didn’t seem too exorbitant. Their happy hour looks decent, if I attempt to try this place again it’ll probably be for happy hour.

My first experience was surprisingly great! My food was amazing, and the server and trainee were super friendly. The food was beyond my expectations, I came home with leftovers that left me dreaming of more! We were seated right away, and were one of only a few other people in the restaurant. The waiter rushed us through our meal. We went for a drinks and dinner date night; and had our bill 30 minutes, and one drink after being seated. The waiter even came back to pick up our paid bill, and buss the table while we were finishing up our drink. It was beyond clear that we were being asked to leave. I haven’t been back since.

Great service, and your typical tex-mex chain restaurant food. They have a drink right now, a jalapeño margarita — EXTREMELY tasty, just a bit of kick. I get the Carnitas taco most of the time, the pork on it is just amazing, but their fajitas are tasty as well. They did get a new ‘cilantro’ rice — bland bland bland, nothing special.

A couple of weeks ago friends took us to Jose Pepper’s, and we were so impressed with EVERYTHING that my husband and I returned. From our last experience, though, we see that they are very INCONSISTENT! After being seated we waited for what seemed like forever for water. Then we patiently waited for chips and salsa, and waited and waited some more. Finally, I stopped the hostess to ask her to send someone with chips and salsa. Waited some more, then a woman, who could have been the manager because she was not in a uniform, brought chips/salsa to the table without saying anything. Still waited on the water. The experience was just crazy — like we were totally ignored. I will end with saying the food was still delicious! And their salsa is my favorite! But because of the serving experience, I don’t think we will go back for a while. Signed, a Lady who gets Mexican at Least Once a Week

The food was as expected, pretty typical mexican cuisine. Nothing outstanding. I was super disappointed by the lack of things to choose from. They did offer fresh grilled veggies as an alternative to riceand beans which is awesome! They have a very basic menu. Everyone enjoyed there food no major complaints we tried the Corona shrimp tacos, tamales, fajita burrito, and guacamole. Reasonably priced. The server was the worst I think I’ve had in a long time. She was rude and seemed like she was in a hurry she kept trying to get or orders before our full party arrived. She forgot things like the baby’s drink didn’t bring her desert forgot to bring out my plate(almost 20 minutes) after everyone else’s. Cups were constantly empty.

Let me start by saying I am a regular at Jose Peppers locations During my last visit, we picked up food and were given the wrong to go order. We were a bit aggravated, however got over it. We called and spoke to a woman stating she was the manager. We explained the situation and she felt terrible — She said not to worry and our name will be written down with two free entrées. Great! Two weeks later(today) we dine in at this location. Service was ok and food was average. Prior to the meal coming to a close we tell our server the situation — she goes back to get her«manager — Kyle.» Kyle comes to our table and again we explain the situation. Kyle leaves for 20 minutes and comes back stating that there is nothing he can do. Huh? You are a manager, I was told by another manager that this was protocol and you cannot do anything. Kyle then leaves again to check a few more places — comes back and states the same as above and cannot do anything about it. Additionally, this so called manager named Kyle is extremely unprofessional and seems as he can careless. Moral of the story — Until Jose Peppers can get people who follow thru on their mistakes we will not be eating at any of these locations. The way Kyle handled himself has lost not only my family as a customer, but my company who averages 2 – 3 lunches and dinners each week, along with my friends who frequent these restaurants.

My waiter was painfully slow and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. I ordered their shrimp tacos, I could do better at home. Their chips and salsa were their only saving grace. I won’t pay to go here again.

I and almost everyone I know are addicted to Jose Peppers. The food is outstanding, the service is always incredible, and the price is right! Also, they may as well rename the espinaca cheese dip Cheesey Crack because it is addictingly AWESOME(seriously i have actually just eaten it with a spoon before, gross I know, but it’s seriously that good.) I suggest getting the shredded beef chimichanga with espinaca on top instead of the usual sauce. Their chimichangas are divine. *NOTE: IFYOUAREGOINGDURINGDINNERRUSH, ESPECIALLYONWEEKENDS, BEREADYTOWAIT A WHILE. THISPLACEISPOPULARSOITGETSCRAZYBUSY, BUTTOTALLYWORTHTHEWAIT.

Came here for lunch today after church with my daughter. We got there about 12:30 and were seated right away. We just missed the rush. It got crazy after that. However, our service was great. Our water was never empty, our 99 cent espinaca dip came out quickly, or food followed shortly behind and our waitress provided our check promptly when asked. The food is good here. The chicken meat is seasoned, which is not always the case at KCMO mexican restaurants. I always get the spicy salsa, because I like spice. Then I lavish it on my food. Their lunch combos are all around $ 7.99 and smaller portions. After I eat all the chips(which are nice and light) I don’t have lots of room anyway. We almost always bring home some left-overs. We will definitely be back.
