The spa is delightful, the folks at the front desk are always courteous and I’ve been going to Adam for over six months. He’s got that great combo of being really good at what he does and being personable without being noisy. I came out of my massage with him today as if in a trance. It was that relaxing.

There is a location near my office and after a stressful day, I needed someone to work on the knots in my shoulders. I was able to nab the late appointment of the day, at 8:00pm. The service was good, and I didn’t get the hard sales pitch that others have mentioned in their reviews. I was told about the packages and prices and that was it. Great.

Despite the several warnings on Google’s Places reviews that Massage Envy used heavy-handed sales tactics, I made a visit there about a week and a half ago. For $ 50, I felt the full-body massage was just as I had hoped and very relaxing. I can’t fault the technique, the environment, or my masseuse. That said, it is exceptionally hard to relax when, 20 minutes into my massage, my masseuse starts her sales pitch. It began with small hints here and there about«packages» that fit my needs, needs that were conveyed to her from this lengthy and ridiculous questionnaire that all first-timers need to fill out while awaiting for their massage. You know that feeling you get when people start with a sales pitch? You get a little anxious and start to put your walls up? This is exactly how I felt while laying face-down on a table in a very dark room, captive by a woman with very strong hands. Yikes. In any case, it absolutely ruined the last half of my massage as these hints kept dropping. And upon my exit from the massage, I was herded back around by the front desk to another young woman who began her full-court-press sales pitch. I had to decline packages no less than 3 times. Speaking of packages, I am not sure who exactly needs to get a massage once or more a month. If you’re truly in pain and need that kind of constant manipulation, you really need to go see a doctor(and not a chiropractor). Since my visit, I have received no less than four emails. So if you do not heed my warning and patronize Massage Envy, at least be sure to use a fake email address.

Love this place. Come monthly for a massage and it is my saving grace. Well worth the membership for anyone with a halfway stressful job or life…
