The bar seemed clean and the price was affordable. The flavor, freshness, and selection were lacking. I was shocked at the overall positive ranking as the quality of the food was so poor during our visit.

Food was ok, great service, limited amount of sushi, some of the chicken dishes needed to be replenished, but for Christmas Eve not too bad. Green beans were great along with egg drop soup. Crab rangoon could be better. Nice selection of desserts. Would dine there again if I were in the area.

China Pacific is our favorite Chinese restaurant. Not only do they have a wide variety of food but their seafood is phenomenal.

Not impressed. First time visitor on a Saturday night at 7:30 and there was maybe 1 roll of sushi available. Over half of the food items on the bar were either totally picked over or completely gone. What was available was either missing a condiment or was luke warm. Because there was no sushi my husband got the steak… as they advertise themselves as a steak and sushi place… his steak was cold, tough, and old. Every trip to the buffet was dissapointing. And for you crab rangoon lovers the rangoons were small and doughy and the dumplings pathetic. The value of this buffett. 3.99. My advice learn how to run a buffet and provide to your customers what you advertise. We will not be back.

Overall pretty good. More than 50% of the customers were of Asian desent the nite we were there. Service was really good. Everything was fresh, bathrooms were clean. Certaintly better than most buffets.

I ate here based on the great reviews, and I guess Happy Wok in Olathe has spoiled me. I did not feel the food was fresh as compared to other buffets. The variety was impressive. The Swai fish was very good. They also have pepperoni pizza and potato skins. The chicken pieces for the sweet and sour chicken were dry and chewy. The hand-dipped ice cream looked like it was suffering from freezer burn. I did not try the ice cream because it looked old. While I was there, only one food item was replaced on the buffet. The sushi choices were good, but just not as good as Wei’s Super Buffet or Happy Wok. I agree with the other reviews in that the service is fantastic. The staff are so friendly and remove your plates from the table very fast. The wait staff are incredible and deserve kudos for their customer service. If you are looking for sushi or Asian buffet in this area, then it’s the place to go. If you want really good quality Asian buffet, I would pick Happy Wok as my first choice, then Wei’s as my second choice. I will not be back to Pacific Buffet again.

A few people have compared this place to Joy Wok. They’re comparable, but I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. Pacific Buffet’s selection is slightly smaller, but as mentioned before, they do use less condiments when preparing their food, so in terms of flavor, it can be argued that Pacific Buffet is less flavorful than Joy Wok. Some might view this as a negative aspect, but authentic Chinese food isn’t coated in sugar and salt anyways, so this is a positive trait to me. There is a small sushi booth that regularly churns out sushi, which is decent. Very prompt service from the waiters. I had plates removed within 3 minutes, and my cup was never empty. They also have hot dogs and tacos, which I must admit that I haven’t seen that frequently at a Chinese buffet, so that adds a unique touch to their food. I wouldn’t go to a Chinese buffet to eat hot dogs, but to each his own. Crab legs can be had, but you’ll pay extra. To me, the food is four star grade for Americanized Chinese food, but I threw in an extra star for exemplary service. It’s decently priced as well.

Average better than China star on Metcalf but I miss the Joy Wok on 119th and Metcalf! So I could take it or leave it. Food was fresh crab legs are weak.

Appears to be clean and keeps the food fresh and well stocked. Ample seating. If you want Asian buffet, this is a good choice.

We ate here around 4:30 with our 16-mo old daughter and had a pretty good experience. The hostess was friendly, the décor is tasteful and there is a ton of food including nice looking sushi, soups, salads, fresh meats, desserts and all the traditional dishes you’d expect to find. Presentation was very nice, the food was fresh and almost everything we tried was very good. My only nit picks are that the dining area is loud and the music selection could have been better– more child friendly. The other thing is that our server wasn’t very friendly and we felt rushed to pay when they weren’t even busy. Fortunately, as a buffet, you don’t really need the servers much. We’d definitely go back.

Seriously, as good as it gets for chinese buffets. A wide variety of offerings. A great amount of desserts including ice cream. A sushi station where they just keep making rolls focusing on salmon, whitefish, and tuna. And friendly service. All for $ 7.50 for lunch and $ 10 for dinner. The crab legs will cost you more, but you’ll eat your $ 2 worth easily. Family and kid friendly.

Hmmm, I’m hungry, but where to go? Asian food sounds good, but what type? So the Pacific Buffet has Chinese food, Japanese Sushi, and Mongolian BBQ? Done, done and done. This is one of the better buffets I’ve been to in the KC area. And it handled all three cuisines well… as it has been frequently attempted but rarely successful. Reviews are right on, food and ingredients seem fresh and decently prepared. The whole salmon fillet was not over cooked, grilled chicken not jerky and the sushi was freshly made in addition to lots of other quality options. One reviewer mentioned that they thought the food was bland and I can respect that. There was no seasoning on the boil mussels(and I’m guessing as well with the boiled shrimp, but I’m allergic so I didn’t try that). Certainly some dishes were weaker on flavor. But this was the minority. Instead, I think the owners consciously cut back on the sauce and salt. While I love salt, I think what is worse than being light on flavor is too much sauce and salt. Which I think is usually done to mask lower quality food and get patrons to fill up on drinks and starch. At many other Asian buffets I’ve been to, I feel well preserved afterward and did not get that feeling after eating at Pacific Buffet. To be honest I don’t think I could ever be completely satisfied with a buffet because it hard to make enough varieties of quality food fast and cheap. Side note as it was not posted. They told me that kids under 3 are free, kids 3 – 10 are at the cheaper rate and kids 11 and up are the full adult rate.

I cannot imagine anyone complaining about ANYTHING at this place after I visited the garbage hole down the street called the China Star(yeah, that star exploded a LONG time ago). I come from San Francisco where there are many many Chinese buffets to choose from and very few look and taste this good, that’s for sure. These people rock the buffet world. Bree G. wanted this place to be awesome, but what she doesn’t understand is this is a «buffet», not a gourmet restaurant(hello!). I couldn’t get enough of the wonton that looked like boiled potstickers, fried chicken wings, imitation crab, etc. Try buying that stuff at the store and see how much it runs you. And the Baskin Robbin’s-style ice cream was awesome compared to a crappy soft-serve option. How much would a double-scoop cost you elsewhere, $ 3.00? As the others say, everything looks fresh and is fresh. The place is immaculate which adds to the experience. Please keep up the good work, Pacific, I hope you can keep offering the selection you do for $ 7.29 for lunch(ungodly low in my opinion).

Blah. Looking for a replacement for Joy Wok, and this is not it. It was clean, and the service was good, but the food was fairly bland. There is a good variety and everything was fresh, but the taste was just not there. We sampled the sushi, many traditional dishes, appetizers, and soups. We wanted it to be awesome, but were just disappointed.

We decided to roll the dice and try out this new buffet in town. We immediately got seated and started to dig in. There was a good selection of food, everything looked fresh, and the temperature was just right(cold things were cold, hot things were hot). We tried pretty much everything between the three of us and there weren’t many complaints. Only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars is I saw some gnats on the desserts and the ice cream is self serve(you scoop your own… which kinda grossed me out). The staff was friendly and attentive. I like that you can get sushi, Mongolian, Chinese, and some American options as well.

We were glad to see another chinese buffet in the area after Royal Buffet closed. Knowing about the cockroach problem further down Metcalf, the selection of buffets in Overland Park is kinda limited. The food here was your traditional chinese buffet with a few American items mixed in. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad. The food was warm and everything tasted as expected. They have a mongolian grill area as well as a sushi bar, both of which looked nice and fresh. There was a full ham to carve as well as sausage and fried chicken wings. We’re hoping that this restaurant will stay around for awhile.
