Puppy’s Playpen

I truly wish I could give this place 100 stars. You know how they say trust your dog if they don’t like someone, you probably shouldn’t. Well I also believe in trusting that of those he enter acts with. I have taken him to other groomers before, and when I hand him over to the groomer at those other shops he would begin to bark or shiver. When I take him to puppies playpen he is incredibly calm. It’s like he knows that this place is a good place and never fights me when I drop him off to get groomed. When I pick him up he just seems so calm & happy, not to mention his coat has never been softer than before taking him here. All the employees have great personalities, & make you feel like your pup is in the best hands other than your own. If you haven’t checked this place out, you must. It’s the best puppy place around!

We have been taking our three pups to Puppy’s Playpen for over a year now. The staff is always friendly, and know our dogs by name as soon as we walk in the door. Our husky puppy goes to daycare at least once a week, and he goes bananas anytime we pull in the parking lot. Whenever we go out of town we board our dogs here too. I love that I can watch my dogs on camera throughout the day, and know they’re being treated well and having a blast. They even have pools out during the warmer months (my dogs prefer the kiddie pool, but they have an above ground pool that water dogs seem to love too.) They were incredibly accommodating when one of our dogs was having allergies, and needed some steroid pills during his stay. They even let you bring in your own food for boarding if you have a dog with special dietary needs. I really can’t say enough good things about Puppy’s Playpen. We will continue taking our dogs here for the foreseeable future. If you’re looking for a place to board your dog, or want a daycare option, this is the place for you.

My dog is very shy and enjoyed his stay there and they took very good care of him. I would highly recommend this place

Yesterday I took my Yorkie in at 10am to be groomed. I was told not to setup an appointment because it was easier for them if I brought him in between 7am and 10am and they would call me when he was finished. By 2:30pm I had not heard from them so I called. They told me he would be finished between 5 and 5:30pm. I went in at 5:20pm to pick him up and was told it would be another hour and that I would get a phone call when he was ready. At 6pm I received a phone call that he was ready. When I got there to get him he was bleeding. The groomer reported to me she had nicked a mole on his arm and she put some salve on it so it should stop bleeding soon. When I got home I discovered an inch long cut that was ¼ inch deep and ¼ inch wide on his arm. Today, I took him to the vet. He had to have 3 staples to close the wound, and the staples will need to be in for 2 weeks because the cut was so deep. He is also on an antibiotic for a week. We won’t be back.

love this place! my puppy, Cid, goes here on and off for daycare and they have been wonderful. He loves the place and has so much fun running around. He comes home tired. I mean its just great. I like that theyre able to roam freely because if hes just gonna be stuck in a kennel all day he could do that at home. Reasonably priced. They sent out coupons to me once for boarding and grooming and I used both. I tell all my customers about this place. You can tell the staff cares and they always remember him.

We’ve been taking our lab to Puppy’s Playpen for over 8 years. Andrea and her staff are wonderful with the dogs. I feel 100% confident in leaving Parker for daycare, grooming or boarding. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Puppy’s Playpen to friends — and have done so frequently!

We had a really bad experience with this place. Took my puppy here for a trial day when looking for a daycare for him. They called about an hour into it and said his mouth was bleeding and it looked like he had lost a tooth, which was normal was a puppy his age, so no need to get him right away. They then called back about half an hour later and said he was still bleeding… well at this point things didn’t seem right. I go right away to pick him up and one of their staff members brings him out while saying «he played a little rough today» as SOON as i see him the HUGE gash above his eye is CLEARLY visible and I freaked out! It was so obvious that he did not lose a tooth and had been injured by another dog and that was why he was bleeding! I understand that things happen with dogs but why were you not upfront with me when it was obvious that he had been injured? I don’t know if they leave the dogs unsupervised and therefore had no idea what happened or just decided to lie about it. Either way I was not impressed. I took my dog to the vet right away and she couldn’t believe what they had told be. The cut had to be glued together and narrowly missed his eyeball.
The whole place is just weird, the kennel room seemed more like what you would see at a vet’s office vs a nice boarding place and the outside area is a super small concrete slab. Definitely not somewhere I would ever recommend.

We are EXTREMELY happy with Puppy’s Playpen. Jack loves it there! He’s very excited when we ask him if he wants to go and when my husband pulls up he can barely contain our dog from plowing through the door… not that he could, he’s a shitzu! Anyway, we are happy with the grooming and he’s been well protected and cared for. The cost is totally reasonable and competitive. The employee’s are ALWAYS thoughtful and positive and don’t consider us an interruption when we stop in for pickup/​dropoff. Jack has never come home dirty or with poo or pee on him.
We use to have Jack at Kennel Creek and their staff always treated us poorly. Their groomer never followed instructions. He was covered in poo often. Anyone from Kennel Creek re-​thinking a daycare… I got you covered! Puppy’s Playpen is superior.

Well… it’s been over 6 months since my last review; time for more feedback! I have consistently taken my Westie, Mia, to Puppy’s Playpen for daycare and/​or boarding every week. Generally speaking, Westie’s have a TON of energy. If I miss out on one week, she is not a happy camper. She enjoys the social aspect, as well as the fact that she is completely exhausted by the time she returns home. I get such a kick out of the excitement she displays when I announce «are you ready to go play???». If I veer anywhere away from the door, she tries to stop me. Too funny!
In all honesty, Puppy’s Playpen has been AMAZING! They take great pride in caring for each and every dog that visits. Additionally, they have also recognized in the past when Mia wasn’t feeling too well. I took her to the vet and BOOM… indeed…she was under the weather. If they weren’t paying such close attention to the dogs, they wouldn’t have recognized this in advance. Much appreciated!
I would like to think I am a caring mom for my «fur baby», which means I am constantly talking about her to others. Almost daily, I bring up Puppy’s Playpen and how they are the best place EVER! The staff, the care and the facility in general is what keeps me coming back. The fact that Mia wouldn’t allow me to take her anywhere else is also a driving factor too. :)

I’m writing this for my parents, who recently used the boarding services here.
When they picked up the dog, the lady said «we think something may have scratched his eye, as he’s kind of twitching it.» Well, the entire eye was swollen shut and according to the vet the cornea was scratched and infected.
Also, he was dropped off while wearing a bandana, which was gone at pickup. When asked about that, they were told «we don’t know what happened to it. Maybe another dog bit it off and we had to throw it away, but I’m not sure.»
So, even with all their cameras they had no clue what happened, and didn’t realize the extent of the eye injury.
I wouldn’t trust them with a dog again.

This place is perfect for my dog. He is very active and really needs to have the opportunity to use up all that extra energy he has! The staff have treated us so well. If I can’t pick him up until later at night, they will feed him for me. If I have any questions at all, they are always so willing to help. In fact, they helped me pick out the perfect dog food for him. I have seen a dramatic difference in his health because of the food they recommended. He has gotten a few small scratches while being there, but I think that will happen at any place where you have a bunch of dogs playing together. When he has gotten a scratch, I have gotten a phone call explaining what has happened.
Overall, I am very satisfied with Puppy’s Playpen. They are courteous people with whom I trust my dogs health and happiness on a regular basis!

My Woody loves Puppy’s Playpen. It is where we go for boarding, grooming, pet food products and day care. The staff is kind, gentle, caring and knowledgeable.
Despite his large size (140lbs) Woody is grouped with the medium sized dogs because he is relatively low energy. The dogs are never crated and get plenty of exercise. In the summer, the dogs can play in a doggie pool, which Woody loves. I highly recommend!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We absolutely love it!
The main reason we first tried Puppy’s Playpen is that they have someone on-​site ²⁴⁄₇. For me, that is sooo important. There are lots of other things I like about this place which are:
— Free roam for dogs! The dogs are divided up into rooms depending on their size and energy levels, and they aren’t stuck in crates all day. There are also plenty of beds and couches for them to nap on.
–Indoor and outdoor playtime!
–No ‘upgrades’ necessary! At some boarding places, for the best treatments (a bigger room, a better bed, extra toys, etc), you have to pay extra and upgrade, but here they give all the dogs the best treatment, without charging extra!
–The staff is great! They are all very informative and helpful. And they’re great with dogs. My dogs only stay when we go on trips, which isn’t very often, but they still recognize and know my dogs by name every time they come in!
–They have cameras in every room and outside so you can check on your dogs while they’re there!
The prices here are a little higher ($ 30 per night for dogs under 20 lbs) but I love my dog, and to me, it’s practical cost, paying to have someone there the extra hours, and it’s totally worth it!

I think this is the best play in Kansas City to take your dog! I’ve been taking my pup here now for the last 6 months and we couldn’t be any happier. The staff is always very friendly, knows who my dog is and the facility is clean. He freaks out everytime I open the trunk to drop him off, he loves it. Puppy’s Playpen is also great because of IPhone App they have that let’s you check the webcams from your phone.

I’m reviewing this place as a groomer, not as a daycare. The daycare experience was decent, but taking him there to be groomed turned out to be a terrible idea. The staff ignored my requests for what I wanted out of the haircut and made decisions regarding my dog without consulting me prior to grooming. Instead of attempting to tease some knots out of his coat, the groomer simply took the lazy way out and shaved him completely, even including the spots on his coat that weren’t matted. After seeing him, I expressed my disapproval. The customer service from that point was insulting. The staff laughed and told me the hair would grow back eventually, taking no responsibility for their work.
To add to the lack of professionalism and laziness in their work, unlike any establishment I’ve seen, the staff makes you pay for the service before they bring your dog to you — a strategy which regrettably worked on me. If you decide to get your dog groomed here, make sure you see their work before paying.

Puppy’s Playpen is a wonderful place to take your pet! The staff is always so nice and you can just tell that they care about all the doggies that walk thru their door. My 12 yr old beagle has been going there for the past 2 years and he absolutely loves it. And my other little baby, that doesn’t normally enjoy going to doggie daycare, likes it because her tail is wagging when we get to the front door! It’s awesome that the pups get to roam around and play with each other or just choose to lay on the couch. I also love the fact that someone is there 24 hours if you choose to board your pet. Great place for your furry loved one!

when I originally inquired about daycare, the staff was amazing! Every question I asked was answered and they were answered with smiles. Today was Toby’s first day and he is completely played out! when I dropped him off this morning, I did feel like I was taking my child to kindergarten. No, I did not cry… I was told I could call them and check on him, as well as through the webcam. I did, both… He became quick friends with a few other puppies while there and they hung out together-​how freaking cute! when I called to check on him, the staff was very nice and encouraged me to be a phone pest :) I know we will be regulars a Puppys Playpen!

My baby… Dexter Morgan (yes I really named her that, but goes by Morgan) absolutely loves this place. She gets so excited she pees right outside the door, oy!
Why wouldn’t she like it?! She plays all day, gets groomed, and gets good TLC from the employees, I get to watch her be rambunctious self through the web cam.
Prices are good, and staff is great, this is my furry child, I will not leave her anywhere except at the best.

This place is great! Clean, unpretentious, and gets the job done.
The grooming prices are reasonable and the price for keeping your dog for up to 12 hours can’t be beat. The employees are nice and my 2 ½ year old mini schnauzer mix is so excited to go in.
The employees always compliment him even though I know he can be a handful.
I love the web cams and obsessively check them while I’m at work. The employees never mention that Max spends most of his time chasing the big dogs and trying to hump them. He must think he has the coolest mom ever because I pay to let him stay in a room where he has his pick of dogs to violate. But don’t be scared future customers – Max is fixed. If you have a female dog you have even less to worry about. This little guy goes for strapping manly dogs.
I love that my energetic little guy is completely worn out (hhmmm I wonder why) by the time I get him home…

My mini schnauzer Henry is always excited to arrive at Puppy’s Playpen and always happy when I pick him up. He gets to play under the hose in the summer (I gave permission), and there’s always someplace clean and soft for him to curl up for a nap.
Once, when Henry slipped out of my place, he made straight for Puppy’s Playpen. There’s no question he likes it there.
Henry gets a LOT of love, and I’m always told if something subtle changes, like when his belly seemed just a little tender.
I have relied heavily on Puppy’s Playpen to care for Henry for stretches of time when I would otherwise have placed him three hours away with family. Puppy’s Playpen has become Henry’s second family, and I’m sad to separate them now that Henry and I are moving away.
I recommend Puppy’s Playpen without reservation.
