Apparently, I am the exception to the rule. I sought out Rick’s based on the great Unilocal reviews. I needed a reasonably priced but decent quality suit on short notice for an event. I found Rick’s, went in, found a suit. The two ladies who helped me were very pleasant, and in short order I was fitted and on my way. The suit was to be ready in a few days. I picked up my new suit once the tailoring was done and headed to my event the next day. Let me add at this point – never, ever buy a suit to use immediately. If something is wrong, no time to get it fixed. I am at a loss to explain why the suit fit so poorly. It was astoundingly bad. The pants were too short, the sleeves as well. One sleeve felt a little shorter than the other. The waist on the pants too large. It would have been comical had it been any other situation. I fumbled through and made it work since I had no other choice, but was self conscious wearing the ill-fitting garments the whole day. Now, part of this is my fault, I guess, for not allowing enough time between purchase and use to deal with any potential fit issues. The darn thing fit so poorly, though, it felt like it was tailored for a completely different person. I don’t know what happened or how to explain it, but the bottom line is, totally subpar. The price was fair, the service at purchase was great. The final product fit worse than an off the shelf Kohl’s suit I had to buy years ago in an emergency for a funeral occasion. When I returned home, my wife asked how it went. In frustration, I basically told her to take the garment bag and donate the suit to a charity organization. I was just mentally done with it at that point. I post this aware that based on the body of outstanding feedback here, I’m the odd man out. Ok. But honestly, I wouldn’t go back. 10 years ago I purchased a suit from a well known men’s clothier downtown, and all I can say is I had no such fit issues at that time with the final product being far superior. I can’t recommend Rick’s, really. Service at time of sale, very good. Product, not. It kind of pains me to give someone a negative review on Unilocal, but it is what it is. ** Update. Jeff has reached out to me in an effort to remedy the situation. I had my spouse donate the suit to charity, so I no longer own it to have this work done. The fact that Jeff took the time to reach out to me is appreciated.**

This place is exactly what I was looking for. I had 2 suits that I got at Men’s Warehouse that totally fell apart after about 8 months. I will give them that I put them through the wringer with one heck of a wedding season, but they were truly of poor quality. So, I knew I needed a more quality suit. My options were to either go custom, or find a retail store that sold a higher quality suit. This place blows both of my other options out of the water. They have a large selection of modern looking suits in my size, which is hard to find(48L) and they sell a very high quality suit at a middle to lower market price. Also, Jeff is incredibly easy to work with and was a huge help. You can tell he has the knowledge of a much older tailor, but is young enough to be in touch with the young professional’s style. I have found my tailor, and will certainly go back to this place for all of my business/social attire needs.

I am a woman and wanted to buy a mens suit for my wedding in Iowa in a few weeks. It’s not always easy shopping for mens clothing when you are of the opposite gender and often times sales people have no idea how to help you. Jeff is not one of those people. He had no problems finding something that would fit me best and all tailoring/alterations are included in the price of the suit. He was friendly, social, and great at what he does. There was no pressure, and every suit comes with a free tie. I cannot wait to get my suit back from tailoring — which will only take 2 weeks. I’m highly impressed with the service and quality of the purchase I made. Thank you, Jeff. Rick’s will be the first place I go next time I’m in the market for a suit, and I will highly recommend them to everyone I know.

Jeffery is awesome. He won’t up-sell you on a suit. I wear a suit everyday at work and used to be really pick about the brand of suits i wear(Brooksbrothers only). The suit I bought at Rick’s is literally the same, if not better quality. I will only be buying suits from here for now on. They also have an awesome selection of Gitman Bros. Nowhere else in KC has this brand. They are super high end. In Charlotte NC I was paying 200 for a shirt, Rick’s has them priced at a steal.

They did a great job on a pair of pants I had tailored. I’m a young guy and he knew just the type of modern taper of the pant legs. Will definitely be going back and will probably buy a suit next time. The owner was there both times I went in and he is great. Really helpful if you have questions.

Rick’s son, Jeff, owns and runs this place now. He’s probably one of the friendlier people you will ever meet, and he knows his stuff too. Real cool guy, real cool place.

Was staying at the Sheraton accross the street and stopped in. Quality clothes, great price and service. Wish I knew a place like this close to home.

Rick’s is Sick. Super 150 and 160’s for about $ 350. And his tailoring work is top-notch. Probably the best suit tailor in the KC metro area outside of the ultra-snooty shops in the Plaza. Rick’s is truly the best place to get a suit. There’s everything from $ 50 suit specials every once in awhile to $ 5,000 top italian wool suits. You can easily walk in here and drop $ 1,500 on a sweater if you wanted to.(Not that I would EVER do such a thing if I had that kind of money) But Rick and his son do indeed work hard to make sure you are satisfied. I bought a 150 and 160 wool suits for $ 700 and I got three free ties along with it(He usually gives you a free tie with the suit but I asked for a third with he threw in with no problem.) If you pay with cash you can also negotiate a little.

They didn’t charge for alterations and noticed the suit looked better with an adjustment no other salesmen suggested.(that’s what earned them the 5th star) Rick has a good eye for how things will fit on a person and keeps up with what is popular, he can talk about what ‘young’ people like but doesn’t pretend to be young.(has a good sense of humor about his hearing aid). They have coupons on their website and he doesn’t freak out needing 3 weeks to do an alteration.
