After two failed attempts to go to Paleteria Tropicana for ice cream last Sunday, we swung in to Sheridan’s. To be fair in my review, I should disclose that I already gave my heart away to Adele’s Custard in Excelsior, MN a long time ago, so I have extremely high standards. Disclosure over. Sheridan’s was good — I had the red velvet Oreo sundae, and thought it hit the spot. The service was quick, although I can imagine that it gets really busy during the summer. I would go back, but I prefer Glacé and Tropicana.

The feeling of diving in a pool of creamy chocolate. The welcoming sweet and bitter taste of chocolate on your palate with crunchy salted pea-nutty chips surprising you in between and an overall cinnamon flavor shinning through. This is the wonderful and delicious flavor of Mexican chocolate concrete. This was my first time to Sheridan’s and i know this won’t be the last. If you are a chocolate lover like me the Mexican chocolate concrete is a must try.

I have been to this location several times and never had any complaints thus far. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My favorite is the Strawberry Shortcake! Also the staff never forgets my furry friend when I bring her in either as they always hook her with a cone too!!! The facility always appears to be clean too.

***Sheridan’s is a well known frozen custard shop in Missouri and Kansas; this shop has a throwback, walk-up look that is similar to the very famous Ted Drewes Frozen Custard in St. Louis; I had the caramel pretzel crunch concrete, which featured vanilla custard, caramel and pretzels; while I felt the frozen custard was way too soft(it felt melted-like), the vanilla custard did have a mild eggy custard flavor and the overall flavor of the concrete was fairly good; the crunchy and slightly salty pretzels combined with the rich fats here to deliver a experience reminiscent of eating good chocolate covered pretzels*** This Sheridan’s is attached to a strip plaza that has its own free parking lot; the parking lot is big and it is easy finding an open space.

Awesome place to stop and grab some custard. The menu is vast enough you can pretty much mix and match anything you can think of. I had the concrete grasshopper, wife had the lemon custard, they both were delicious! It was even a little cold and rainy out but there were still a lot of people there for their custard fix.

You just can’t go wrong with Sheridan’s. I love this location because it still feels like a little ice cream shack from my childhood; you walk up to the window and place your order. I love sitting outside, eating the amazing custard; one scoop vanilla, one scoop chocolate with oreo topping. The location(as with most locations other than Unforked) always seem really clean with very polite & fast customer service.

This is my favorite place to get custard in KC, and the place I always bring custard virgins. There are many places in the city to get some good frozen custard, but Sheridan’s blows them all out of the water! overall rating — food — 9 atmosphere — 6 selecion — 9

This is a perfect place to eat prior to a colonoscopy. And in fact, they’re very efficient at cleaning you out as it only took me 4 or 5 bites(all of which tasted quite off) to do the trick. I wish I could give it zero stars but I can’t. Actually, 1 star is probably ok given the fact that I didn’t vomit from the food, just blew up the bathroom when I got home. And what really scares me is that it was frozen dairy… how does ecoli or salmonella survive in frozen food? And how is this place so widespread across the city and still in business?

Best frozen custard in town, worst customer service. This location is no longer owned by Mr Sheridan himself and it shows. They almost never get your order correct, especially not if you ask for lids so you can take it home and enjoy it. Plus, especially if they are busy, plan on getting a concrete that isn’t mixed well because they are in too big of a hurry. But the custard is great!

Apple pie and custard — AREYOUKIDDINGME? This is fat kid heaven and I am definitely in the choir. The fat kid choir. Singing and smiling. This is one of the faster Sheridan’s. Luckily I was able to pull up like a boss and there was no waiting! BAM!!! The down side is that it was pretty windy and a little chilly. Not a good combination since they do not have a drive thru. I think the owner must know that and compensate with bubble, super friendly, sweet, and caring staff. I was really happy with that which made up for the fact that I had to turn my car on Jamaica in the summertime to get warm. But my Sheridan’s kept me super cool… yea.(In my cat daddy jazz voice)

What’s not to love about Sheridan’s? Service is generally fast and efficient. Frozen custard is to die for. They have heaters in the ceiling so you aren’t uncomfortable waiting in the winter. Concrete: Brett’s Butter Pecan is my favorite followed by Oreo and Reeses Pieces. Don’t forget the dog cone for your best friend. :)

We dig Sheridan’s! We eat a lot of ice cream. A LOT of ice cream. Let me clarify that… WEEAT A WHOLE F* TONOFICECREAM. But Sheridan’s isn’t ice cream, you say! Well you are right. Its not. But for an Ice cream fanatic who doesn’t believe in the silliness of frozen yogurt or ice cream alternatives, Sheridan’s hits the spot. My go to concrete for a long time was the wedding cake with vanilla custard. They always mix in just the right amount of ingredients so that you can enjoy them, but still enjoy the delicious smooth custard. The staff here is mostly comprised of high school kids, so it is what it is. Expect to wait on a hot summer day. There are a few benches to have a seat but feel free to take advantage of the steps as well. Most of the time we head back to our car to enjoy ours. If you don’t plan on eating your custard there, you can ask for it to go! They will put your custard in a nice bag that travels well and keeps your custard frozen for the trip.

Got the caramel pretzel concrete thingy and it was divine. Even better since I added peanut butter and hot fudge to it. It was like a Take 5 in custard form. Seriously delicious. Fairly-ish priced and the service came with a smile. What more could you want on a hot summer night?

Sheridan’s is awesome, and it seems like whenever I get the craving, hundreds of other Kansas Citians have the same idea. Their concretes are fantastic, but the turtle sundae is my favorite. This particular Sheridan’s is dog friendly, and they will kindly provide your pooch with a sample of vanilla custard.

Sheridan’s I MISSYOUSOMUCH! PLEASECOMEBACKTOLAWRENCE! Being from out-of-state, Sheridan’s is a relatively new thing to me. I used to frequent the one in Lawrence all the time, particularly because they were open til 11 or midnight, and I’d swing by and grab a late-night banana split. Because that’s totally normal. And then Sheridan’s left. I had never totally appreciated Sheridan’s as much as I should have. Now I have to get my banana splits at normal hours, and with less tasty custard(sorry, Culver’s). But worst of all was what I deem made Sheridan’s unique among custard places — creating specials with baked goods. GAH. I miss it so much. The last time I went they had a blackberry cobbler sundae — AMAZING. The second-to-last time I went, they were going to have apple pie sundae the next day(bummer), but that day had strawberry shortcake, with *real* shortbread, not that angel food stuff. Oh :(

I only gives this a 1 star because they have absolutely nothing for the lactose intolerant. I called their main office and they said. You are correct we have nothing you can eat. Sorry. At least add one sorbet or flavored icy. It really sucks to go somewhere and watch everyone else eat and you can’t. I take that back I could sit there and eat topping. I can eat nuts, strawberries and sprinkles while everyone else enjoys cold yummy goodness. I think not. Seriously add something for the lactose intolerant. Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone Creamy all have something for me.

Frozen Custard — don’t know where it started, but don’t know why I had to be deprived of it when I lived on either coast. Smoother, creamier, and obviously easier to jam toppings into. On top of that, I can order hot dogs? Love it.

I got introduced to Frozen custard just a few months ago and I fell in love. It’s not like ice cream, not like gelato, not a sorbet, none of the above. Ice cream would be creamy, Gelato is more dense but richer, Sorbet is for fruit usually. Frozen custard comes in Concretes which is a cup full of goodness. If you are familiar with Cold Stone and how they mix toppings into ice cream this is similar, but the custard is like a mix of ice cream and maybe a thick milk shake w/o the milky part. I love the Mocha almond it comes with Chocolate concrete with almonds and coffee. I tend to add brownie bites to make kind of my own Chocolate and Coffee concrete creations. Coconut concrete is real tasty also. And I had the Cookies and Cream the other day and it is just like it’s name. Tip: If you don’t like what they offer feel free to make your own, you probably wouldn’t fail. Concretes run about $ 5 – 6 and my brownie additional topping was like 75cents I think extra. Don’t forget gloves to hold the cold concretes on a winter day
