Love this hardware store. The employees are helpful and always smiling and happy to work with you. I wouldn’t go any where else!

No one really asked me if I needed help, although they asked the people that came in right behind me, but I found what I needed and checked out fine. Later, we had a return for some stuff I overbought and the return was no problem.

This is my new «go to» place! Upon my first visit, I had an unpleasant service experience (new, young. you know the general story). I’m big on customer service so I sent a simple email to the store. I received a very quick and personal response from Bob, the manager. I loved that they took my experience to heart and corrected the «problem» immediately. I was invited back and, of course, I went back as I need more stuff. :) I went on a particularly busy day for them (HUGE paint sale) but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was so nice! All of the staff were so busy but they all offered to help me find something, mix something, check out, etc. Drew, another manager, was so incredibly nice and helpful. I’ve been back several more times and he always remembers my name. It’s such a small gesture but one that really makes a regular customer feel great!
Now as for the store… they always seem to have items that I need in stock. I’ve never left there empty handed. The store is nicely laid out and seems pretty clean for a hardware store. I’m a painting fool and I love the new paint department. Great colors and they now carry Valspar paint.
So. if you’re looking for a great local hardware store, look no further than this little gem!

I have been going to this Westlake for almost 10 years and they have always been good until recently.
I had bought a Pressure Canner at the Prairie Village store and it was defective. I went to the 87^th store to return it, since it is closer.
I had my receipt and everything still in the box ready to return. The clerk was very nice and tried to return the canner, but the system said it did not exist. I said it was a special order item and that it came from the warehouse so it should be in there. I had the receipt. She then called the manager over, this is when the trouble started.
Mike the manager came over looked at my receipt, tried to pull it up in the system and it didn’t show. I said he could do an override and return it. He looked at me like I was a 3 headed alien and said, «I don’t want to! Take it back to Prairie Village and let their store take the hit!» Turned around and walked away. The clerk apologized for him and was shocked. I said don’t worry I will call corporate on him.
I then took the canner to Prairie Village and they returned it with no hassle. I then called corporate and reported Mike and they said he would go through a retraining class. Let’s hope it works.

I agree with the staff remarks, they are friendly and helpful. I’ve really only been here to pick up supplies for our BBQ smoker. They have natural lump charcoal and a variety of different woods other than just mesquite and hickory. They prices are good for these items.

Don’t let the young staff fool you. Whether it’s as simple as making a key, or as complex as picking the right nail for a certain job, they will be helpful, courteous, and fast in checking you out.
Support a local neighborhood business over your big box store, whenever you can.

Employees are very helpful and always try to answer your questions, which is great when I’m on a mission and need something for a home improvement project. It isn’t helpful when I’m dawdling… I dawdle when I’m thinking about a big purchase and I prefer to be left alone… but hey, I won’t complain about someone doing their job. :-)
It’s not as big as a Home Depot but I get my questions answered and people actually appear to enjoy working there.
