Quail Hollow Farm is a CSA(Community Supported Agriculture) located in the Moapa Valley. They grow organic, sustainably-raised vegetables(well, I guess as sustainable as you can get in a freaking desert, but whatever) that are DELICIOUS! I will rave about specific items later, but just know that you’ll be getting some quality stuff… if you can get in! I signed up the first season that shares were available, but now there is a waiting list to get in… the word is out! You buy a «share» of the harvest for each season(or for the entire year) up front, then each week you receive a basket of veggies, herbs, and sometimes fruit or flowers. It ends up costing about $ 40/week, including the delivery charge. You can pick your veggies up at the farm or at one of several locations around town(I get mine at Rainbow’s End, which is very convenient for me). They have special events at the farm, such as an heirloom tomato tasting or a potluck for shareholders to meet and mingle. The farm also sells eggs and honey and chickens and turkeys for Thanksgiving, if you’re into the meat. They will also let you play with the baby goats and rabbits if you visit if you’re more into the cuddling! For a fall share, expect lots of squashes and pumpkins and melons. The most amazing cantaloupe! Winter brings lots of leafy greens and broccoli(also, best broc!), and spring and summer have beets, the tastiest carrots I have ever nibbled upon, heirloom tomatoes, and onions(can you tell that I’m writing this in the middle of the spring/summer share that is fresh in my mind?). I got some artichokes once, a kohlrabi, lots of sweet crunchy spinach, arugula, mizuna, chiogga beets, garlic, chamomile, sunflowers, and cilantro/parsley/marjoram, just to add on… Seriously, put your name on the list now, and hope you get a spot ASAP!
