Quite possibly the only place in town to eat outside of a pizza place and a mexican place. Given that, it is not a bad place, for what it is and where it is. Perhaps a smidge over the generally accepted price mark but the service was good and the food was acceptable. We came in as a fairly large party of 8 and to their credit they did not bat an eye in seating us or serving us. I stuck with the basics and got a cheddar bacon burger, it was acceptable. The kid at the table next to me apparently got the triple size of what I had and i have to admit, it looked formidable and I watched in morbid fascination as he consumed all that was unhealthy on that plate only to leave a bit of healthy green lettuce. I was in awe. In addition to that, I started with a cup of corn chowder soup that was acceptable. The rest of my party seemed pleased with their choices as well. Look, the bottom line is this. If you are coming out of the East side of the VOF park(Moapa valley) there is not much else to naw on unless you are willing to wait it out until you can drive to civilization. Another good sign is that there actually seemed to be a local rush at dinner time.

Sugar, sugar, love this place. Best burgers around, carrot cake feed a army of three. Best ranch dressing ever, buttermilk love. Thank you Sugars Home plate, we love you feeding Overton, great employees !

Not a 5 star restaurant but 5stars for such a great little sports café. Large, tasty portions at small prices from friendly people.

Great stop after a hike in Valley of Fire. It’s easy to miss, as not much indicates that it’s a restaurant. Luckily, we saw it from across a McDonald’s and decided to try a local diner. We’re glad we did. It has a lot of character, with the walls filled sports memorabilia or all sorts(including an old-timey badminton racquet!), great service from friendly waitresses, and a good helping of hamburger and fries with rootbeer float. We felt like we traveled back in time(without the racism!) or in a movies set. It was definitely a good stop for a bit of Americana. You can people watch as you enjoy your burger.

I think it’s funny to read the bad reviews on Sugars. It’s a very small town and good old country cooking. Every time I have been there, that’s a lot, they greet everyone by name and make you feel like family. The owner is very nice and makes you feel very welcome. If you are trying to compare this place to anything in Vegas then go back to Vegas because this country cooking is not made by celebrity chef and gourmet. If you want a place where locals recommend and you actually enjoy good country cooking then this is the place for you. Breakfast is awesome and so is there dinner menu. If you love desserts get the carrot cake and the chocolate overload because the owner makes then herself.

This place was recommended by the manager of my hotel. When I walked in, I was a little unsure as it had the appearance of a sports bar, but with very bright lighting. The employees couldn’t have been nicer and I had a burger that was so good, I’ll probably never forget it. This is not healthy eating by a long shot, but this burger was awesome… it had a polish sausage on top of the cheeseburger. OMG! I had a nice salad with it. Give it a try when you are visiting the Valley of Fire.

Great place. Service was very friendly and down home. Chicken wings fell off the bone and were just the right amount of hot. Will come back next time I am through here.

came here for breakfast. it was alright, would have achieved 3 stars. that is until I saw judy metz’s comment to KLAS. the comment in question is below «These people that are coming in could totally disrupt everything,» restaurant owner Judy Metz told a news crew from KLAS. sorry Judy, ill makesure that next time I dont possibly disrupt your lack of customers.

Went here after leaving Valley of Fire. We were starved and I feared we would find nothing but fast food options. We took a gamble on Sugars Home Plate and were pleasantly surprised. I can’t say our lunch(tuna melt and burger) was super healthy or low cal, but it was fresh, yummy and priced well. The décor was cute and the waitress was very nice. Overall, a great place.

This place is more like a 2.75 but I rounded up. I love little places like Sugars. Out in small towns all over the U.S. you find places exactly like Sugars. The little diner serving up traditional American fare. Red-seated booths, and tables with years of use behind them. Sugars is the place that brings you a cracker basket with your salad and has a plethora of creamers on every table. That being said Sugars was somewhat disappointing. After a hike and a ride around Lake Mead my husband and I were too hungry to drive all the way back to Vegas and we were coming up on Overton, Nevada. We decided on Sugars. It’s one of those places where you’re either going to find a hidden gem, or just get something to put in your belly. Sugars is the latter. Sugars is a bar and restaurant. Service is slow. Food is mediocre. Fries are straight up out of a frozen bag. So, this is what you have to work with. My husband ordered the fish and chips which came with a side of ranch and some lettuce leaves… haha, I mean, yes that is what it was. So if you would like a salad with ranch, order your dressing on the side. The one thing about the salad was that is was HUGE. It came out on a normal sized plate. His fish and chips looked fishy to me so I didn’t try any. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, which is usually a go-to dish for me if there happens to be one on the menu of a place I go to. Unfortunately phillies are really hit or miss and this one was miss. The onions, peppers, and mushrooms were chopped too small and ended up being lost in a buttload of cheese. The meat was minimal… barely there. The cheese on the other hand was practically enveloping the entire sandwich. IF you happen to be in the Overton/Moapa Valley area of Nevada and you just HAVE to eat somewhere than Sugars ain’t bad. After all the only other option is McDonalds.

Just don’t. You’d be better off starving in the desert, living on peanuts found underneath your driver’s seat, and licking the underside of desert cactuses for water.

Just driving through and decided to stop here. First, I visited the restroom and it was clean. Second ordered the pancake, eggs and bacon and my husband ordered the double bacon cheese burger. It was about 10 bucks which I thought was expensive for a burger, but man oh man was it huge! And it came with fries that he said were very good. I could only eat half of my breakfast and it came exactly as ordered. What a nice surprise. Just plain old good food. Service was good.
