Ovid Firehouse Distillery

Great place for sampling beers. And vodka. Even made me my own special bloody mary. Interesting beers, great father and son duo. Glad we stopped.

This old fire house, gorgeously turned brewery and distillery fits the firehouse vibe. The renovated space keeps the firehouse theme in a sophisticated manner without being cliché and corny. The owners were friendly and available for conversation as they served us with a smile. This is a must see if you’re in the area. It is easy to miss as the outside looks exactly like the firehouse it was, but look for the signs and you’ll be happy you stopped by.

An out of the box location for a really cool business. The owners took an old small town fire station and converted it into a new high functioning business. Using half the bays as the actual brewery and the other half for their tasting room. It’s a great place to spot and hang out. The small town vibe you get when you walk in is overwhelming. And no one would ever walk out of this place without thinking they are part of the family!

Joshua Parker and company have done it again, this time in good old downtown Ovid, NY.
This former firehouse was for sale and they have transformed the space into a beautiful tasting room/​bar/​brewery.
For now they are only serving beer and I met the brewer, cool guy. Once permits are in they will sell and serve spirits as well.
What makes this space unique is Josh’s take on re purposing older materials. For instance the concrete-​? bar top was taken from an old school house. The space is complete with a stripper pole, I mean a fireman’s copper pole. They even found an old fire engine and had it CUT IN HALF and repainted, really cool.
We sampled 3 different styles of beer, all delicious. I really liked the Porter and Sour.
They are showing Monday night football and you can order food from down the block and bring it here… or they deliver. Cool.
Perhaps this spot will put sleepy Ovid on the map. Well done.
