I recently bought a new sound system for my car at Audio Excellence East Orlando, 477 South Semoran Blvd. 32807. Email address: Please don’t make the same mistakes I did, and above all, stay away from Audio Excellence. I had to pay ½ the money for equipment and installation up front, which I did using my debit card. I asked that the original speakers be returned to me, so I could have all the new sound equipment removed, and put the original 4 speakers back into my car should I decided to trade it in for a new vehicle. I was told this wouldn’t be a problem. It took about 3 ½ weeks for the equipment to come in. My husband kept telling me that AE was probably ripping me off. On the invoice sheet the equipment was listed, but no prices were to be found, so I tried to look up the price of each piece of equipment on Amazon. This was an impossible task because between the illegible handwriting and the extremely vague equipment description, I did not have enough information to pinpoint the exact piece of each piece. This allowed a woman named Halla, part of the family business, to play games with the prices. When I wanted to return the equipment the markup was not added to the price and the I would also have had to pay a 25% restocking fee. When I wanted to buy the equipment and have it installed by a reputable company, the markup was added on and to the price and the cost would have come out to more than the down payment. Getting out of the deal was not an option. I was dealing with dishonest people and Halla, who is not only dishonest, but bat**** crazy. Both of my proposed solutions would have resulted in me losing a great deal of money. I had no choice. I had keep working with these people. I sat in the waiting area while 2 or 3 people worked on my car. It took them 6 hours to install everything. Part of the reason it took so long is because the speakers would not fit in my car. My car was in pieces, the technicians had already installed the amp and subwoofer. The technicians had given me a choice of either destroying my original speakers to use as place holders so they could jam the new speakers into place or spend an extra 3 hours of labor to build a holder out of some sort of material to keep the speakers in place. At that point I just wanted my car back so I could done with the entire experience. I also didn’t want to give them any more money! They destroyed my original speakers. When the car was finally ready, it sounded like a big cheap distorted boom box on wheels. I was almost in tears. I paid the other half of what I owed them and left. I couldn’t turn the volume on my receiver above 4 without extreme distortion and possible speaker or receiver damage. I had a choice of listening to music or the radio on low, medium or high. Fortunately, I had asked for the boxes that the equipment came in. I went home and was finally able to look up how much the equipment would have cost me if I had bought it on Amazon. Audio Excellence had been ripped off very badly! The Audio Excellence markup had been ridiculously high! I didn’t know if I could get my money back due to the fact that parts has been installed into my car, so I called a lawyer friend of mine. He told me I would probably have to pay for the labor as well as the 25% restocking fee. I had no good options left. I called the store to try to recoup some of my money. I went back to AE and started going over the numbers with Bob. At that point Halla told me she wanted to show me something outside. As soon as i got out, Halla began to literally scream at me. She threatened to have me arrested, blocked the door with her body, called me dangerous, accused me of being on drugs and demand that I leave the property. As she was screaming this nonsense at me, I was going over the numbers in my head. I could have recouped about 1⁄5 of what I had paid out. I was extremely upset with my new sound system, out a ton of money. I had no patience left. Did I make my share of mistakes? Absolutely! Should I have asked for an estimate? Absolutely! Should I have demanded that a typewritten page of parts be given to me before I paid for ½ of the total price of the job? Absolutely! Should I have walked out of Audio Excellence when I saw there were no prices on the invoice sheet? Absolutely! Should I have bought the parts from Amazon and had a reputable company install them? ABSOLUTELY! Should I have HAD to do all of these things to make sure I was not being cheated? Absolutely NOT!

I had a spoiler installed to my vehicle back and it looked great until the light malfunctioned. It looked to me as if water had slowly leaked into it. I am thinking they didn’t deal it properly or it was a cheap light. It also looked liked chucks of dirt, dust and other debris accumulated in the light as well. They guarantee their work for one year, but I didn’t know the light was out until my warranty expired. The owner was professional and I explained everything to the owner, but It still ended up costing me additional money to put a new light… The associate that I dealt with during my initial visit was Bill. I didn’t like him very much because he was playing games with the numbers regarding the cost of the items I wanted installed! $ 200 for an auxiliary jack? $ 169 for mud guards? The price of the spoiler was good based on what I knew, but it’s a lesson learned. Do your research and know the general prices of things! Compare to other places including online! Their labor rate is fair, but if the associate plays games then it will cost you more money! Bill was definitely not honest with me in regards to the price of the auxiliary jack for my iPod/iPhone! I mentioned it to the owner the second time around, but he didn’t say anything. A partial refund or free spoiler light would have been a nice gesture to even things out.

I trust this place for any aftermarket audio type set ups for vehicles. The owner is super friendly and very pleasent, as well as the front staff. They installed power windows, power locks, a stereo unit and an alarm to my truck. They did it for the lowest price(which is why I went with them) and seemed the most informed and knew what they were doing. Since then, the power window that they installed has broke 2 times(one on the left. one on the right side) over the past 3 years and they were more than happy to fix it very quickly without charging me a dime. I recommend them, they are more knowledgable than Best Buy and have a passion for what they do.
