Torey’s catered our wedding reception in August 2013, and I am writing this review as the bride. I’ll start with the only good thing: the food was very nice. Despite that, I strongly recommend you go with another caterer. Torey himself was utterly unprofessional during the entire process. He never appeared for a scheduled meeting at his restaurant, and despite his staff calling him, never came during the 1.5 hours I was there. Emails and phone calls were left unreturned, and when we did receive a reply, they were curt and– frankly– rude. Torey’s as a business was unprofessional. They do not even have a contract for their catering events.(Even the hair salon that did our bridal party’s hair had a contract.) Especially when you’re planning a wedding, you want to be reassured that the caterer will provide what you need in an honest fashion. That’s what contracts are for.(And contracts also protect the business. We knew another couple, who were married in June 2013, that eventually got a new caterer– despite paying Torey’s a deposit– because they were so frustrated with the restaurant.) Finally, a word about the wine served at our wedding. It was $ 3 wine from a specialty grocery store, and Torey’s charged us $ 11/bottle, despite the fact we were paying for gratuity, tax and labor as a separate charge. Honestly, I think they thought we just wouldn’t recognize the brand of wine, since there isn’t a store in Owatonna. When we asked him about this(at our wedding reception), he told us that he had to have a markup and«make money» as a business(again, we were paying for gratuity, tax and labor separately). If you’re thinking of having Torey’s cater your next event– especially something as important as a wedding– run! You’ll save yourself a headache.
