Food was decent but I wouldn’t recommend going here unless you are gay or bi– sexual or Caitlyn Jenner what ever see is! But the food was decent and the service was subpar I guess!

Went here with two friends and ordered sandwiches, their famous cornbread(with cranberry spread), and tea. Everything was superb. Wish it was summer so we could sit on their porch but the inside was also beautiful. The café doubles as a gift shop and this time of year(November) it’s decked out with Christmas decorations. Our waitress was very amiable and made great conversation. Overall, food and otherwise, we were all very satisfied.

Fabulous!!! The attentive staff added to the incredible menu/lunch. Totally changed my semi annual trip from NYC to Candor to visit with my Aunt. Now looking forward to my trip in the Spring of 2016. Kindly reserve a table on the porch with a review of the river. Applause… Applause.

Nice little restaurant with a good view, service was accommodating to our ankle-biters. We tried a simple caprese salad and sandwiches on croissants. No children’s menu.

Great lunch stop on our way to Niagara. Creative sandwiches that were tasty and a perfect to compliment the lovely river view. Our server was very friendly and efficient serving the entire section. Desserts — chocolate overload torte and and truly fresh peach pie! Yum!

Very cute little café in the back of a sparkly colorful shop. Serves carefully crafted lady’s luncheon-style soups, salads, and sandwiches. Also an entrancing place for kids — my daughter felt like she was in a fairy garden.

The atmosphere can be a tad overwhelming – the store containing the café is packed with merchandise and some of it overflows into the café. On my most recent visit, a floral arrangement hanging on the wall poked me in the head throughout the meal – and the flow of people walking by the table to get to the deck was also somewhat intrusive. The panini I had(Phoebe Snow) was ok but although touted as black angus beef, the roast beef looked very similar to the stuff you get in plastic tubs at the supermarket. The smell of the garlic butter was enticing, but there was little garlic flavor. I remember this sandwich as being absolutely delicious in the past so perhaps this was an anomaly.

This place is awesome! My husband and I went here while we were out exploring Owego. It was one of the only places open on Memorial day and we probably would not have gone in, if not for that fact. They were super busy but the waitress did a great job juggling all of her tables. We started with tortilla chips, avocado salsa and sundried tomato hummus. Both of the dips were homemade and delicious. I had the california wrap that was packed with fresh grated carrots, turkey, avocado and a deliciously sweet raisin cream cheese. My husband had one of the melty paninis with turkey, cheese and the homemade sundried tomato hummus. The icing on the cake was that we got to sit on the deck along the susquehanna river. It was a wonderful lunch and we can’t wait to go back!

Went here for Mother’s Day with my family and In laws. We sat outside on the river view deck. It was a beautiful view. Menu is simple but lots of great options to choose from. They had a sweet potato kale soup special that my brother in laws mother got and it looked delicious. I ordered the five nations grilled panini and it was delicious. My brother ordered the gazebo Mexican chicken wrap. I had half and gave him half of mine. Also equally delicious. My girlfriend ordered the bridgeworks croissants with crab salad and she said she loved it. Overall the food was absolutely wonderful but the service was a bit lacking. I only left 4 stars because of the service. Waitress messed up the drink and soup orders a few times but apologized and returned with the correct items. Very nice place, check it out!

You dont find many places like this to eat in new york. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food was absolutely amazing. I had phoebe snow, a panino(panini) with black angus beef, mushroom, garlic butter, and cheese. It was served hot and crispy on ciabatta bread. Sooooo good. I highly recommend it. My mom had the caprese salad panino turned into a wrap with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil. Our hostess gilded the lily by offering balsamic glaze for it. We were very pleased. We will be back and I’m certain that even my husband will love the food!

Service was a bit inattentive. We were waiting for about 10 minutes for a table, while the whole time a woman at a table was trying to get the check and pay to free up her table. Some may like the antiques, but seems like a lot of clutter to me. Perhaps they will film the next episode of «Hoarders» here. Also, $ 9 for a sandwich seems like a bit high.

My very favorite lunch spot in the region! Whenever I’m visiting from Boston, my mom and I make the pilgrimage to Owego just for these lovely sandwiches and delicious desserts. It’s not just the food, but the whole adorable experience that makes River Rose worth it. This place made me feel like a princess at a tea party when I was little, and 20 years later, it feels just as magical. The café is located in the back of an antique store/Christmas boutique. The delicate chairs and mis-matched china are a perfect fit. On nice days, they have a back deck overlooking the river for outdoor dining. Be sure to try one of their specialty drinks, like mulled cider and snicker doodle coffee! My favorite sandwich is the Lyman Truman(even better if you get it on a croissant). I also love that you can ask for veggie chips instead of regular ones. Their soups are also great. If you’re lucky, you may even catch one bring served in a mini squash or pumpkin! Try to save room for dessert! You can’t make a wrong choice. It’s not a place I would take my husband(tiny space, delicate portions), but it’s a perfect way to spend an afternoon with your favorite girls.

One of the highlights of making the long trek to my parents house(6 hour drive) is finding new diners and restaurants to hit for the halfway lunch or dinner stop. Of course all the Unilocalers before us make this process much easier and more successful. This little place is great. What I say will just be a reiteration of all the previous reviews that led me here in the first place, but the fact that another person is saying may just add another exclamation point. It is a cute little place in a quaint little town. They have a nice deck overlooking the river and the day we were coming back was a beautiful one, so we were lucky enough to enjoy it. We were also lucky in that they were open because it was actually Memorial Day. Their soups and sandwiches are delicious and fast. The soup that day was an extraordinary kale and sweet potato. Along with a great turkey panini(I forget the name of it) I also got a refreshing strawberry iced tea. Our server, Sarah, was very sweet and took good care of us. I love finding great little places like these. I highly recommend a stop if you are traveling this way. It is a little bit off the main road, but definitely worth it.

Very quaint little restaurant with awesome sandwiches & salads. Very nice friendly service too. It’s tucked away in the back of a cute store. Try the turkey, brie & chutney panini – very good! They also have homemade soups. My zucchini tomato soup was really good. My husband’s Italian wedding soup was too salty. If you’re in the area, make sure you try this place.

My wife and I were driving along the southern tier and decided we wanted to stop for lunch and searched for a quaint place to share a sandwich. This place was the perfect choice. We each ordered one of the specialty soups(cream if onion with rosemary and sweet potato and kale) and were amazed at how good they were. We split the Court Street turkey panini with mango chutney. Wow how tasty. We finished by splitting the carrot cake. We rarely have dessert and this was worth the indulgence. The woman who waited on us could not have been more charming and personable. We both agreed that we will make it a point to stop here again when through this way.

I have been a customer of the Hand of Man /River Rose Café for a very long time. I keep going back as the store is truly wonderful, and the café and food are fantastic. Where this establishment loses stars is in its treatment of customers. The owner is incredibly rude, as are the cashiers and waitresses. Do not expect any customer service from anyone unless it is blatantly obvious that you are wealthy. Otherwise, you will not be acknowledged when you walk into the store, try and find an item, or even when you check out. I have frequented this establishment enough times to see this pattern. It is getting to the point where I need to question why I keep patronizing and spending money in a store that mistreats its customers. This type of customer service, or lack thereof, is disappointing as this store could be such an enjoyable experience if staff were just a little bit kinder.

I went there today during the strawberry festival. I stumbled on this restaurant because I was in their store and at the back is the restaurant. Nice place. Very quaint. I love love the décor. They have a seating outside so that is where we had our lunch. The weather was a nice and you have a view of the river and the bridge. Their menu consists of sandwiches. My husband got the Phoebe snow panini which is roast beef and it was good. I had the clam chowder soup and the chicken salad sandwich. The soup was also very good. Sandwich was ok. The reason why I gave it a four star was their waitress. On a busy day, they only had one for the first hour and I guess they realized that there were a lot of people so they added two more servers. We were there for 1.5 hrs total. But I would love to back there on a regular day.

I was passing through this area on my way back from NY to Cleveland and I was looking for some gas and coffee. Owego, NY looked like a nice place to get both! Here were I stumbled up on this hidden gem. They have a very nice outdoor sitting arrangement just above the river. If you enter from the street, you have to cross the entire shop to just get at the sitting area. Ambiance if totally dependent on weather! I had iced tea and a sandwich which was delicious. I found the waitresses very happy to serve and helpful in making choices. I think overall it is a very nice place to go with a date or just to have chat with some friends on a nice day. Love it!
