This place was great! From the vegetables and fruit they had, to the cute animals we could stand around and watch. We went back during strawberry season and grabbed a few for the road, their chocolate covered strawberries were out of this world.

Reid’s orchard is a not only a family tradition but an Owensboro tradition. If you’re from Owensboro, chances are you’ve been out to Reid’s. Every fall my family & I go to the apple festival. It’s usually the second weekend in October. The festival has tons of food, crafts, & rides. It’s a neat place to eat lunch & people watch. Last weekend I met my family there, along with my 2 year old nephew & planned to pick some strawberries. Anyone who’s been around a two year old knows they aren’t the easiest crowd to please. We arrived & noticed a huge play area with slides, toys & animals. For $ 12 my nephew was able to ride a horse, yes a horse, or as Eli calls it, «the big one.» They also have a pony for little ones to ride as well. A petting zoo type deal with goats, sheep, donkeys & llamas to feed. He was able to decorate a cookie, pan for«gold» & even ride a train. It took him about an hour-ish to do it all & he loved it. We had pork burgers for lunch & by that time it was time for his nap. We were able to pick some strawberries, $ 1.95 a pound. The orchard is family run & everyone is always so helpful & nice. They even do weddings! Check them out if you’re in town.

When I roll down the paved drive to Reid’s Orchard, hundreds of memories flow through my mind. I have been coming here as a child to pick apples with my preschool class, or pick strawberries with my Gramps to make homemade jam. There is an Apple Festival every fall and it’s a great time to come out and see what the orchard has to offer: hay rides, corn maze, animals, food, treats, produce; the list goes on… If you’re in Owensboro, head out to Reid’s!
