I give the seven napkin burger 5*!!! It was everything I expected from the reviews!!! Cooked to perfection, but 7 napkins did not cut it, it was more like 12, it was tender and juicy!!! Best burger I have ever had!!! Service was good and friendly!!! Now onto why I only gave it 4*, the grown adults that where working there where all bought up in some he said she said BS that was going on on someone’s Facebook! It was a very loud conversation that should have gone on in private and not for customers to hear!

apparently being the best voted burger is true here!(Partner had the burger, I had the crab sandwich.) decent priced, lots of food. and tasty to boot. only problem? the guy taking our orders & running the place was a pretty tightly wound, making us feel like we were bothering him by taking our time perusing the menu. no one else was ordering at the time so we were confused at the pressure to hurry up. but the food made up for the initial weird vibe. after our meal he was cool calm & collected individual. only having an outhouse kinda bummed us out after demolishing a 7 napkin burger. nahmeen?

Came for the famous«Seven napkin burger». It was worth the trip from key west. Juicy, flavorful, and messy.

Without a doubt the best burgers in Maine. Try the 7 Napkin burger and be prepared for a burger that is fixed exactly like a burger should be… hot, juicy, and delicious. Service is top shelf and the super casual atmosphere is worth the short drive to Owls Head.

My husband and I went for lunch here. Food is great and the service is amazing here. Great people and the cutest general store.

Charming and quaint, this is the nicest of several general stores in the area. It is located close to the Owl’s Head Lighthouse, so if you are in the area to visit the lighthouse, it is a convenient place to stop for lunch or a snack. My friend and I both thoroughly enjoyed their famous«seven-napkin» burger. The name is perhaps an overstatement. Similar to what another reviewer noted, I finished mine using only four napkins. The burger is cooked to order. I asked for mine to be done medium and it arrived medium rare, which was fine with me. The burger is of substantial size, but not gargantuan. Both the beef and the bun are of good quality. If there is a condiment you don’t like(in my case, mayonnaise), they will leave it out. In nice weather, you can sit outside at one of the tables. My friend, who is a sucker for Christmas ornaments, succumbed to temptation and bought a cute lobster ornament at the check-out counter.

This is about as real and homespun as it gets. Genuine Maine general store BUT a crazy good, and famous, 7 Napkin burger. Although it appears to be cooked on a griddle vs a grill, it’s still a delicious burger. Good meat, sauce and ingredients. Very tasty and they also have gluten free bun options.(For the record, I managed the 7 Napkin burger with only 4.)

OHMAN. This is your typical general store, particularly a typical Maine general store — basic grocery items, locally made gifts, things like that. But don’t go for any of that — go for the freaking 7-NAPKIN BURGER, named«Best Burger in Maine» by Food Network. I stopped in here while on a business trip and had no idea until I saw the sign… so happy I did. It was absolutely one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Well cooked, flavorful, and SOMESSY. Perfect. There’s indoor seating but a bunch of outdoor tables with umbrellas, too — so nice on a summer day!

We stopped at this place because my husband saw a banner stating that the Food Network named this Best Burger in Maine. When asking the cook about it, he told my husband that this happened when under a previous ownership. We both ordered hamburgers, and were disappointed. The only flavor appeared to be on the outside. The burger itself was bland and dry, even though I ordered mine medium well.

Overall, good place. Love that it is a small general store with a dang good hamburger. They always seem pretty busy. We can in on a day that seemed busier than they could handle. My only complaint about it was the guy who took our order in the kitchen. He may be the owner, manager or cook. I don’t know. What I do know was that he was rude. We couldn’t get our order in fast enough for him and he showed it, blatantly. Not my idea of customer service. The food, we all had the burgers. Voted best burgers in Maine. I don’t know if they were the best in Maine but they were pretty darn good and didn’t disappoint. I’d go to this place again. Good food and the overall service was pleasant except for the guy with the attitude.

Quaint little general store where you can pick up the basic grocery item, a fresh made sandwich, burger or a pizza. There are dining tables inside and outside with shade umbrellas. The sandwiches, burgers and pizzas are fantastic. It is a must stop place if you are headed to the Owls Head Lighthouse. Pick something up and have a picnic in the Owls Head State Park.

Boy is this place popular — and it’s easy to see why. While crowded when we went and without much available seating, we soldiered on and ordered«Maine’s Best Burger(so says Food Network). I’m here to say right now I don’t think Food Network tried all the burgers in Maine — it’s not the best burger there. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but for me there wasn’t anything mind-blowing about it that would make me stand up and shout, «Yes! BEST! BEST! BEST!» Well, ya know. Everyone was super friendly and it was delightful to have that little general store feel, kinda of a piece of lost Americana in a way. We found a place to sit and enjoyed our burgers. One of the kids with us ordered a turkey sandwich which did look amazing, but I don’t know how it tasted. Might have been 4 stars but for the over-sell on the burger. It’s all about expectations vs reality, people.

The haddock melt was just so! I hear the burger is well known, but as I refrain from 4 legged mammals, I opted for this other delight instead. It was a good choice. Note to patrons: they do not serve fries. My niece was quite disappointed with this news.

Best burger ever! It isn’t a trip to Rockland for us unless we go to the General Store. They have other great things aside from the 7-Napkin Burger like a haddock sandwich(Friday’s and some Saturday’s) and the Maine Italian sandwich(this is different than what someone from NJ might expect) but we rarely order it. The burger is a meal in itself and it comes with chips. I have thought about getting their excellent looking sides like their 3 different kinds of coleslaw, but I end up full. I always have to get a pumpkin and chocolate whoopie pie. Their whoopie pie is the best I have ever had. Moist and the filling is just decadent. The place is small and on a busy day a seat might not be found but the staff is always nice and for the size kitchen and amount of people coming through they have a quick turnaround. The store has a few food items and little trinkets as well as the food portion of the General Store. I’ve bought a few souvenirs here in the past. Locals come by often and a few times I’ve shared a table with them and chatted. I have been going here for ten years now and I just couldn’t imagine not having one of those burgers once a year. I told my now husband that he never had a burger like the one at the General Store and he didn’t believe me. Well he does now and it too is his top priority when going to Maine.

Loved it! Stopped by for lunch on a recent trip to Maine after visiting the Owls Head Light(just down the road!). Everyone was extremely friendly, pleasant, and helpful, and the food was fantastic! We had crab rolls there that were outstanding, and grabbed sandwiches to go for a boat ride later that held up well. I especially loved the chicken salad. And the blueberry muffins! How could I forget to mention the delicious blueberry muffins?! Do yourself a favor and stop in here.
