BOMBDELICIOUSYUMMYMENUDO! Best menudo I’ve had in a long time. They make it daily. I’ve never had the all you can eat menudo but I’ve heard it’s a good deal. I usually order menudo to go. I’ve not tried anything other than menudo here. They give a good serving with plenty of meat, chips and all try garnishes. They are always nice and the service is always great. They accept credit/debit. I highly recommend this place for some authentic menudo.

I came here specifically for the menudo. I didnt know until I got there that it was all you can eat menudo. The large bowl is packed with tripe and hominy. Your choice of corn/flour tortillas and of course on the side you have all the fillings(lemons, onions, oregano, crushed red peppers, and salsa) I washed it down with a ice cold! This all made up for the appearance of the place. Never the less the menudo was on point.

Came back for the all you can eat Menudo. My husband loved it. Came with all the trimmings and was so packed full of tripe and hominy he barely made it through the first bowl but got another half bowl anyways. I had a shredded beef taco again because it was great the first time. Also tried a tostada with carnitas to see how the carnitas are. They were tasty but a bit dry. The beef is better. Service was good and the chips and salsa were much better today.

I went here because of the good reviews but found it hit and miss based on what we had. The tacos dorados were good, but the quesadilla and burrito were very mediocre. With so much good mexican food around I see no point in going here again.

Little hole in the wall. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover — the flavor was authentic service was good. Burrito ranchero was very good.

I was craving menudo and found this place on Unilocal. It offers all you can eat menudo for $ 8.50 on Saturday and Sunday. This place is old and has been here for many years I’m sure. Don’t come here for the appearance or décor. Come here for the menudo it is very good. The tripe was cut in small bite size pieces they way I like it. I wish it had more hominy because I love hominy. Served with tortillas, chips and salsa. The salsa was good and spicy. This is a well know place for menudo. I noticed that Almost everyone here ordered menudo. I will be back to try more items on the menu.

Ya! I’m a fan. I love this place, it’s a hole in the wall type of place serving up authentic Mexican dishes. Mom’s is always the best but this place reminds me of my mom’s food. My wife had Nopales con Huevo served with beans and tortilla’s and she loved it. I had the all you can eat Menudo and it was like mom’s, so good I just had to have a little bit more. By the way you can take in your own pot and buy some Menudo for the road. While we were there we must have seen 5 or 6 people bringing in there own pot’s to fill up with Menudo.

Great authentic Mexican food and friendly staff. They serve menudo and pozole everyday.

I went to this place because of the reviews and frankly I was disappointed. My steak was flavorless and my guacamole needed salt. The only thing I enjoyed was the horchata and the attentiveness of our waiter. Like everyone else says this place looks pretty dirty. The carpet had spots everywhere. If the restaurant looks this bad the kitchen must be terrible as well. I will not be going back there.

Just got back from a trip to Mexico and I’ve been craving Mexican food but the problem was that finding a place that serves great authentic Mexican food is hard to find, even in Oxnard. So this morning I woke up determined to find that one spot I can go to when I need that ‘Mexico’ flavor… El Ranchero just became one of those places. Small place, nothing fancy, one server, a lot of locals eating here, and great food. While they do serve burritos I would suggest you venture outside of the tortilla and go for real meal– you can’t go wrong with anything here. ;-)

If you are tired of the corporate dining options, this is a legit, neighborhood restaurant with good food for cheap. I’ll go back fo’ sure.

I’m very picky when it comes to mexican restaurants but I Love this place! The food is delicious… When in town, I take mom for breakfast on saturday or sunday morning for her menudo. I always get the pozole and my son the green cheese enchiladas… You also get fresh tortilla chips & salsa, got to drink the horcharta, but no refills, lol… Lil’ mexican restaurant but all the food is authentic, just like my mom’s. Got to say, I rarely go to mexican restaurants because mom is a great cook and eat this everyday. You all need to go at least once… ;0)

Amazing. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. Old school atmosphere, below freezing beer, the best menudo. In my opinion the cauldo de pollo is world-class cuisine. You can have your phony designer crap cuisine or you can go to El Ranchero for the real deal.

Used to come here alot on weekends as a kid so i decided to come here again and see if it was still as good and let me tell you ITWAS! infact the entire décor and booths are still the same from about the early mid 90s dont judge this place by location and old feel and i do mean OLD lol! Its all about the food the salsa and chips were excellent and tacos and albondigas soup were excellent! Worth trying once in your life. dont let looks decieve you as this bussiness is still up and running and does get busy for breakfast.

This is the best mexican restaurant of all time. I’ve been eating here since I was 7 and I don’t even live in Oxnard. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but it’s seriously the greatest mexican food I’ve ever had.

I have to echo Benny’s review of this place. Yeah it’s a dive, tiny, not the cleanest of places, but damn, the food is amazing. In addition the chips and salsa are superb, and best of all, it’s inexpensive. I went there with my mom this morning and a full course breakfast only cost us $ 21. I had gone many times before but I would always order breakfast(chorizo) and be somewhat disappointed with the results. This time I decided to order a traditional entrée(a flauta), and it was an amazing dish. It’s simple, side items are ordered a la carte, but the food is great. Most people come here for the menudo and/or the pozole, which is served every day here(unlike most small restaurants, which only serve on weekends or Sunday). For those that like those dishes, I’ve been told this is one of the best places to go(I personally don’t like either too much so I refrain from giving my personal opinion). This place deserves a visit at the very least to check out their very unique tortilla chips(fresh ground yellow corn tortilla == a delicious different flair on your usual chips and salsa). You never know, you might enjoy yourself!

Ok let me qualify this by saying that my family has been going to this hole in the wall for YEARS! Its almost a tradition, so I am a little forgiving. You walk in and yes you feel like you just walked into a 1 star taco stand in Juarez. The carpet is filthy, the booths are falling apart and the bathroom should be immediately reported to OSHA. But walk in on a Saturday or Sunday morning and this place is packed. Why? The food is really good! The salsa is always tasty(chips are made on site). I love the Pozole! The combinations are good as well. Its real Mexican food served up by Mexicans at a very inexpensive price. Looks are not everything!
