Dr. Khatore is easily one of the most knowledgeable cardiologists in the state, if not the country. He quickly interprets test results with amazing accuracy. I was thoroughly impressed with his professional skill. However, it seems his office places a higher priority on financial gain than patient health and well being. Due to my need for angioplasty and all other procedures that went with it, the HSA in my CDHP was completely depleted, and I had to pay out of pockets until my expenses exceeded $ 4,500. I simply couldn’t afford the $ 250 per month for the Crestor prescription. So, I called his office to request a change in statin prescription to a cheaper brand(Lipitor, for instance, is MUCH cheaper). His secretary informed me that he would not even consider it without seeing me first, which would cost me another $ 100 — just to get a prescription change. My primary physician was more than willing to change the prescription for me, and, as it turns out, there is even a generic version of Lipitor on the market. I am now paying one twenty-fifth the amount for statins, saving me a ton. Two years worth of the generic drug costs less than one month’s supply of Crestor. So, to sum up: Good: Highly competent in his field. 5 stars for this. Not so good: Patient health and well-being takes a backseat to monetary income. One star for this. Bottom line: I can’t respect someone who thinks like this physician does, where my life is less important than his financial gain. I sincerely hope he takes a better look at his life choices in the near future. He has the technical skill to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
