Combo 4 to go… Bento with pork Teri. Includes gyoza and tempura but… Only one shrimp tempura and nothing else. I guess that technically counts as tempura(singular), but EVERY other place would give you two plus some veggies, right? Also, ordered two rolls, neither came with wasabi or ginger. I guess you need to ask, so beware if you get takeout. Food taste is average.

I hadn’t been here in a very long time and my husband suggested it for lunch the other day. I was excited to eat here again! The restaurant is small, but clean and well lit. The staff greeted and seated us right away and as we sat down a party of five came in(large for this size restaurant). We were not handed menus and my husband grabbed two off the counter for us instead. When the woman came to take our drink orders she first went to the party of five, seated after us, and got their orders first. When she came to our table I asked for a Diet Coke and was told they were out. They also had no other diet drinks so I ordered a water. After she left our table my husband reminded me we had sodas in our car in the parking lot so I brought one in. Then the woman came back to our table and happily informed us she had located a Diet Coke for me. It was cold and I accepted it even though I already had opened my own. I ordered a cucumber salad and a shrimp tempura crunch roll. I was surprised when the roll came out with two sauces slathered all over it. I asked about them and was told one was spicy mayo. I can’t handle spicy foods so I ordered a second roll without the spicy mayo. The staff(man and woman) defended the roll and checked the menu to confirm the sauce was«pictured»(the pictures are very small and the sauce was not listed in the description of the roll). I said it was my fault and asked them to make me another roll. The second roll came without any sauce so I had to ask for eel sauce, which was promptly provided. The cucumber salad was the strangest and least appealing I’ve ever had at a Japanese restaurant and I order this salad at pretty much every single Japanese restaurant I eat at. It consisted of a bed of lettuce(very unusual for this kind of salad) and cucumber *sticks* arranged on top. Everything was coated in a dressing that was too spicy for me(also unusual for this salad). It felt as if someone saw that Japanese restaurants serve a «cucumber salad» and came up with their own guess as to what that meant without actually having had a cucumber salad(sunomono) at any other restaurant. Even Lazy Dog(not a Japanese restaurant) makes a more authentic Japanese Cucumber Salad than Maki. Very strange and disappointing. My second roll was delicious and I would definitely order it again. Second roll was 4 stars for sure as was the fact that they didn’t charge us for the first roll even though I would have paid(and we tipped heavily to compensate for the uncharged roll). Pretty much everything else was 2 – 3 stars and if I return here I think I’ll stick to my roll(without spicy sauce). PS my husband enjoyed his bento box of teriyaki chicken just fine. I tried some and it was very good.

I love eating here ever since new management. A year ago, the room looked like roaches will crawl around you, no food standards were held(literally watched raw chicken sitting out for hours) and many of the employees were shady, giving out free food. Now building looks great, great friendly service from all employees I’ve met. The food portions are smaller and food is slow to come sometimes but overall I think the place has improved greatly.

If I was in the past 1 and half year ago I would tell you to hit up Maki for that dragon crunch, maki, crunch roll yummy! Even have that Miso soup for free(what u must be pulling my leg !!) but it was for real free… free ! The cashier by name of Stephanie was very kind and just always provided great customer service. Even the scary looking lady that had a mean look on her face was pretty nice(shocker I know!!!) And the place was small but cozy and had the most interesting objects displayed to have culture vibe to it. Now fast forward… new owners the place likes like it could be in a new movie of insidious 4. Seriously, walls painted in red and not in a lively vibrant way. The staff…1 out 5 someone will actual ask how my day is or how was the sushi. I also had my order either delayed or completely wrong(this occurred 3 time in the row in the same 2 weeks) and never received apologize just another excuse. The sushi were great even bomb but now they are just okay(well I paid for it I guess I will eat it…) I have completed stop coming here since the new year of 2016. To leave off on a good note the only one sushi master always had smile on his face and communicated with his guest fairly nice :) I wish the best for maki because you were once great and I am sure you can achieve it once more. And the main reason why I had hold out for so long because maki is my 1st sushi place and only 5 minutes drive from my home.

I had heard good and bad reviews about Maki Plus from people and I know so I decided to try it for myself and I must say, I did not like this place. I ordered chicken teriyaki with veggies and white rice and a spicy tuna roll. The chicken was extremely dry and flavorless. The cabbage had a stale flavor and don’t get me started with the spicy tuna roll! That is always one of my favorite rolls but it had a bad taste to it and not to mention the tuna had a dark color like it had been sitting out for a long time. Very disappointed and will definitely not try this place again.

Oh my goodness am I disappointed. This used to be my favorite sushi spot. This place has a new owner and workers. They remodeled the place, painted and change decorations. They also made the menus look fancy and changed the sitting arrangements. Things changed for the worse if you ask me. Although they have the same menu the rolls are not the same. I always get the crunch roll but now it’s completely different… It was ok but not bomb as usual. They no longer give complementary miso soup while you wait for your food. The prices stayed the same but the food is not as good was it was. Not even close. Also the servings got smaller, not only combo meals but the rolls too. The old waitress was friendly and attentive, the new waitress is not. I am very disappointed that things changed this much. Usually change is good but not in this case.

It’s been so long since i last visited Maki Plus and its always been one of my favorite sushi place to go to until today. So i came in to order for to go they said my order would be ready in about 8 – 10 minutes so i was just like okay thats fine. More people came in so i thought okay i don’t mind waiting another 5 minutes since there was only one server. Then 20 minutes passed by and they already got the food done for the people that came after me. They made me wait an extra 20 minutes for me food that’s 40 minutes total just for a sushi roll and what’s worse is that it wasn’t even the right sushi roll and it seems like the server didn’t even care to check on my order for me seeing me sitting there waiting. Until i actually said something. I was so angry i just left that place and will never come back again that’s for sure.

Live close by so stupidly always think it might be better than the last time. It never is. Seems like they try but just to make it quite right. Restaurant seem small and dirty and the food is barely edible and I’ve tried most of things on the menu hoping to find the one good thing. No I just quit thinking it’s convenient and drive a little further for a decent sushi.

Very decent sushi and fast service. I tried the bento box and it was well executed and priced right. I will need to visit again before I upgrade my rating.

This place has decent food but the service isn’t all that great. I went around lunchtime and there was one girl working and a sushi chef. It seemed like the two were just bickering. The waitress asked me what I wanted to order after looking at the menu for a minute. She came back a minute after I said I needed more time asking what I want. I would order to go.

Really disappointed in the new rolls. His used to be my favorite sushi spot and now I won’t ever be going back. They kept the same menu but the rolls are completely different. I also didn’t appreciate having to witness the mistreatment of some of the employees by the owner. You would think considering his position, he would know to wait until customers leave to start reprimanding employees but instead he just shoved the employee to the side and took over the process.

It’s a sweet little hole in the wall eatery that I have always enjoyed going to on the way to and from college. The best part about it is that the prices have so far remained very reasonable especially since it serves sushi. The quality of the sushi has also been very on par with some of the more expensive sushi restaurants but without the expensive price. The only nitpick I have is how the bathroom is at the very back of the place and you feel like you aren’t supposed to be back there. And that sometimes it is temporarily closed a certain time of day but that’s the only reason it doesn’t get an all out five stars.

I had the teriyaki chicken bowl with a California roll, and it was good. The service was nice, especially since it was somewhat close to the«lunch rush», and I was in, fed and out within 30 minutes — not too bad for a timed lunch spot while working.

The food is good(i usually came here for the lunch boxes), the people were nice. I usually sit all the way in the back where it’s quiet. I don’t come here any more only because I smell disgusting(reek of grease and fried oil) when I leave, it’s unbearable. Which is odd because you can’t really smell that there.

«Best & Cheap Sushi Ever Served w/a 100% Friendly Service!» I used to be a regular here, back in high school but not as much anymore, but since its my very first visit of a new year i might just become a regular again! Honestly the food are below $ 10 most of the sushi & bowls are! But the taste and freshness are absolutely there! This place are one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Oxnard, the place might be small, hard to find sometimes, but worth the time to find and to eat at! Check it out if you haven’t gone already, i have friends and family that do recommend this place if your looking for something cheap but worth the dine.(:
