His staff are a nightmare. They are unhelpful and unprofessional in the extreme. When I called to make my first appointment, I told the receptionist what plan I had, and that it was through Covered California. That was all well and good, they booked it, I waited a month, and showed up early. His front-desk person asked for my ID and insurance card, then gave me this blank stare. Apparently, they’d lost their contract with Covered CA as of July 1. They managed to scrape together the wherewithal to call me the day before to remind me of my appointment, but neglected to mention that I was going to waste time driving there and be shit out of luck. They could have called on July 1, or whenever they fumbled the contract with Covered CA, but they didn’t. I had to sit through traffic to get to a strip-mall waiting room where someone could rudely blame me for the fact that the office doesn’t have anything together. On the bright side, I suppose, I was spared having to wait hours to deal with a punchline. You know the joke, the one about the guy graduating last in his medical school class still being called«doctor.»

Have a seat the Dr will see you 120 minutes after your appointment time. Beats my last visit which had me waiting 3 hours. Dr Oldt is pleasant and seems knowledgable despite always looking like he just came from doing yard work. The staff is also friendly. To be fair, I’m sure the overly long wait is because when he does get to you, he really does take his time to be thorough and attentive. Still, I’m going way into my second hr of waiting, thinking about lost wages and researching new Dr’s. on Unilocal

Sitting here in the waiting room almost one hour after our appt. My 86 year old dad on oxygen likes the doctor so what do I say. Im laughing at all the comments about wait times. It IS an urgent care center so you could wait hours. Me… Id change doctors. Urgent care doctors should not take appts and should not subject older patients to this. Darn, theres goes someone else n to see the doc that just came in… snore. Update… I must say this is one great doctor though.

After my horrendous experience thus far, I was STILL attempting to get a prescription for birth control. Upon following up on the blood work results and attempting to get it, I was told that the doctor could only see us once then we had to follow up on base(which upon calling Triwest they called bullshit on. Dr. Oldt was listed as our primary care manager and as such could be seen as many times as required). I was then advised that Dr. Oldt couldn’t(or wouldn’t) write a prescription for birth control and referred me to an OB/GYN… If this was the case. then why did he send us for all these tests to begin with??? When making the appointment, I was specific on my need/request. On our paperwork we were specific on our request/need. If he could do nothing for us, then what was the purpose of the tests he sent us for? Why did it take over a month to get my test results? Why did it take a month for him to tell me he couldnt(or wouldnt) write the script? In my opinion, this is a doctor that wants nothing to do with you if you aren’t an illegal that he can extort a cash payment from which I am sure is more than what Tricare pays him. If you don’t want to be part of their network then get the hell out so we can find a doctor who DOES!

Ok, another update on my situation with Dr. Oldt…2 stars up to 3… After everything I have been through good and bad I called the other day because as I said in my previous review that the doctor had failed to give me a prescription for one of my asthma inhalers. He had only given me a sample of something I had already been taking and had sent me home with no actual prescription. I called the doctors office the other day and left a message with his assistant and explained that I needed a physical prescription for some prescription coverage stuff I was mailing in and left a number where she could reach me. I expected to have her call back and maybe I might have to explain to her all over again the situation and why I didnt mention it to the doctor in the first place. Low and behold the next morning I had a message from her letting me know that she had taken care of it and my prescription was waiting for me at the office. I stopped by a couple hours later and the nice nurse behind the counter had it for me in 30 seconds. Made my day… it really did. On a side note it was a Friday afternoon when I picked it up and the waiting room was OVERFLOWING with people… wow really it was like a college class that has a huge waiting list… there were people everywhere. If you are gonna come here without an appointment save yourself a couple hours and go in the morning. I will be happy to give Dr. Oldt and his office another chance… his staff is pretty awesome. :0)
