Plaza park is centrally located in the heart of Oxnard. They hold the farmers market every Thursday from 9am to 2 pm. They also have the dancing Christmas lights extravaganza on the pagoda that starts early December til the first week of January from 5pm til 10pm. The giant Christmas tree is also lit up. The kids love it and so do I. We have been going for years and never miss it. The parking lot is next to the park and is kind of small and parking can be a bit of a challenge especially on Friday nights and weekends. There is a parking structure right around the corner on 3rd and B. There is also plenty of street parking.

This review is not really for Plaza Park, it is for Oxnard’s Food Truck event. It just so happens that it was held in Plaza park this month instead of Heritage Square. I love going to these trucks, there is always something new to taste. The past couple of times I have been addicted to Cousins Main Lobster Truck. Yes, first off, it is expensive and they serve you small portions. But its Lobster! from Maine! of course its going to be expensive!!! The lobster rolls, lobster tacos are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!! And I’m not related to them in anyway, I didn’t even liked lobster that much before. But the first time I tried one of their cold lobster rolls I was hooked. Now I can’t wait until they come back on the 7⁄17 to the Channel Islands Harbor… Check them out. Now I did try the Grill-Cheese truck, I’m not sure what they were called, I just wanted to try them because of the size of the line, I figured they have to be amazing grilled cheeses. NOPE! Mediocre at best. I can’t believe I spent over an hour waiting for one of these things. I don’t even eat cheese and I made an exception this time because I thought I was going to try the best grilled cheese sandwich ever! Sadly it was just a plain white bread with a few types of cheese not even melted all the way. YUCK! Anyways, they did have tons of other trucks there and it is a definite must go for everyone that loves all types of food.

This park is awesome. It’s like the center of all things that happen in Oxnard. This park holds a lot of festivals, farmer’s market and even the occasional protest now and then throughout the year. Seriously, downtown Oxnard is very underrated, you can get to city hall, the public library, movie theater, restaurants the hub of public transportation in Oxnard all within a couple of blocks.
