For what it is – a dive bar – it’s the best of its kind. I’m hesitant to tell people about it for fear of overcrowding, but everyone’s already heard. Where else on this freaking planet can you order a call brand drink, have them pour you a double and a half, and pay only $ 5.75? Hell, those days ended in the Nixon Administration. And a well drink is $ 4 – same long pour. Take your drink outside, sit on the patio, or right out on the beach in an Adirondack chair. And I do mean on the beach. Hungry? The place does not serve food, but right out front is the Hollywood Grill, which has the greatest hamburgers, Hot dogs and french fries you’re ever going to eat. This is a place for the ages… and for drinkers. If you want a great bloody Mary on Sunday, you’ll find it at the Rud, but try ordering a Long Island iced tea or some other foo foo drink, and they will laugh your ass out of the place

I think they would rather have one star because it is such a dive! Total locals place for beach bums and tough looking guys. We were out of place for sure but it was an interesting experience for one drink. Adirondack chairs out on the beach and picnic tables on the patio, you’d think you were at someone’s home but it’s a bar. A few pool tables and about 99 percent regulars. Cash only. As we left, a Midwestern looking family was approaching the door. Was tempted to follow them just to see the expressions on their faces!

Nothing on tap, cash only, rude staff. This place is for old men who support Trump.

Solid. If you miss stopping here once, you’ve just plane missed out. The crowd: local and eclectic. The drinks, inexpensive and CASH only. The interior is authentic and fitting. The service is perfectly detached and funny. It’s off the beaten path, so it’s hard for any but the most enterprising casual visitors to accidently walk in. I took a visitor here and we had a pretty dam good time. Well worth the stop.

Went there yesterday with a friend and the place was totally packed. One of the best dive bars ever. Everyone was super nice… no egos here! The drinks are strong. I will be back… maybe today.

I really like this spot. You can take a beer into the sand, they have 2 pool tables and like volleyball nets just outside. A juke box and what appear to be rather friendly mellow older locals. That door that says it will sound the alarm if opened is not lying. I tested it for ya But BEWARE: cash only.

Dive bars are really not my thing, but when I was stuck in an unfamiliar neighborhood and needed to catch the final game of the Dodgers sweeping the Giants, Rudder Room came through. And even though they didn’t have taps, they had ice cold cans of Guinness, which I thoroughly enjoyed. No food at the bar or nearby. The views are pretty amazing, and unlike other beachfront dive bars like the Beach Ball, the back of the bar overlooks the sand and surf. Ideal spot. There was a talented bunch of guys and gals playing beach volleyball until sundown. The jukebox had a great selection as well. A-OK in my book. If I’m in the neighborhood again, I will definitely swing by.

Heard this was a good place to go — walked in today and literally stood in front of the bar and the bar tender for a full 5 min and he never even asked me what I wanted. Mind you, it’s early and the place is empty with only 1 old guy at the bar. I asked if I could sit outside and he replied«I don’t know, can you?» And still didn’t take my order ! They just lost my business — I’m never going back.

BESTDIVEBAREVER! The only place between Malibu and Santa Barbara where you can physically(and legally) sit on the beach with a drink. Don’t expect a 5 star experience as far as the bar itself, instead see it for what it’s worth– an awesome dive on the beach! Always a good time and friendly service you can’t beat having a nice, cold drink on the beach on a hot summer day– or night!

We were staying in Oxnard for a long weekend along Hollywood Beach… was very grateful to have a bar like this so close. See my pix and comments.

This place is horrible. It is the worst place I have ever been to and if I could rate it a negative star I would. The place smells like urine upon walking in. The bartender was super rude and the drinks were watered down. The view was nice, but there are definitely other places you can go with a nice view of the beach, where you don’t have to smell urine, deal with a low life bartender and have a drinks that barely have alcohol in them. Worst place ever!

Very good dive bar. I have been here 3 separate times when I travel in the area. Only 4 stars because it’s a dive, but great sunset and I’ll be back next time I am in town.

I was visiting from out of town and although sitting on the beach is neat, the bartenders were extremely rude. One actually threw .75 cents at me and said good luck getting a drink in here ever again because it was taking me a little long to get my cash together.(They only take cash and look at you like you’re an idiot if you didn’t know that.) They should really work on their hospitality and making newcomers feel welcome. I will say the prices were amazing for California.

This bar is pretty chill. My friends and I were wandering around Oxnard and found this place. Super divey which is cool. Seems like a place regulars would go to. When we got there we grabbed our beers then noticed we could go outside. There were chairs on the beach! Just hung out drinking a few rounds and watched the sunset. They also have billiards. Definitely want to come back here again. Diggin the name too.

If you’re visiting Oxnard, this is one of the must-go bar for the experience. Dive bar with a direct access to the beach! You can sit on one of the many sun chairs that are out in the sand and enjoy your beer with the sunset. It’s a watering hole for the locals and most people are found to be very nice and approachable. Farmers, workers, and all the likes. It gets chilly year-round, so bring a sweatshirt if you want to sit out on the beach.

Absolutely a great place to hang out with beasties, shoot some pool and enjoy a beautiful view of what we call whack a mole. Bartenders are great.

Off the beaten path by a few minutes. This place is not for everyone. It is a small bar that has great outdoor seating. … you know, if you’re into sitting in the sand with a beer and watching the sun go down. Very narrow pathway leads from the front door past the bathrooms that could use a little better ventilation and ends at the bar that has a large window looking out to the water. Seemed to be dog friendly and the customers were also on the happy side. I’ll return because this is my type of escape to place.

This is old school/military hangout, at the end of a residential street. Apparently you can drink outside with your feet in the sand, which is a nice and rare opportunity. Stayed only for a beer since the vibe that night just wasn’t ours. Some drunk military guys having fun and making drunk asses out of themselves, which is fine and funny. Girlfriend was a little freaked out since they kept flexing their biceps in my face but what do I care. These guys are the front line and deserve every consideration. Would definitely be back, although the drive from Malibu was like 40 minutes

Wer also«mutig» genug ist, immer rein.
