The times I have been there the staff have been friendly & helpful. I’d recommend bringing your own ammo, it’s SO expensive there. The lanes are really nice, they’re close enough that you can come with friends and still be able to interact. I also like the moving targets, however I believe they only move forward and backward, not side to side. I could be wrong though, I’ve just never seen it(but I haven’t asked either). I prefer shooting outdoors, but if you have to inside this is a decent place.

Amazing guys and full of experience and knowledge on Cali’s laws! Very friendly to those learning to shoot and great with former military members and active duty! Really enjoy the atmosphere and are accommodating to new shooters like my wife and inexperienced friends! Recently moved to Oxnard. Started going to this place 2 weeks ago or so. Read the reviews and was a little hesitant but have to say. Great place, staff is friendly and will explain regarding their policies but they are not nearly that strict compared to some others I have been to. Don’t pay attention to the bad reviews — for them there’s other places. For me its good here so far. Keep up the great work — staff of Shooters Paradise!!!

I visited here on a business trip and wanted to rent a hand gun but because I was solo they would not rent me a fire arm to shoot

I usually don’t write reviews but I read through this today and find that some of the crybabies’ comments are just inaccurate and unfair. I’ve been going here for quite some time, used tens of thousands of the reloads which are very economical and quite reliable for practice; and occasionally new or my own ammo. I have two Glock 30’s that have both seen thousands of these rounds. They shoot just fine. If you’re going to shoot at a public range then learn how to hold a pistol and maybe it won’t jam. If you’re concerned about safety be aware of the people around you and what they are doing at all times. When you rent a gun inspect it first. Know your weapon and how to operate it, how to clear it, and what to expect if it malfunctions. If you don’t want to get bitched out for having a loaded gun in the showroom then take the magazine out and lock the slide back otherwise get someone to help you clear it at the range lane. The staff is generally a bunch of experienced and polite people guess some can’t take a joke. As far as the comments about range masters and safety — bull**** — anyone doing something dangerous or stupid, rapid firing, using multiple weapons simultaneously, etc. is either talked to or promptly removed. Overall A+. If little things bother you then don’t shoot in public places. This is an old-school shop and a much appreciated facility in this mostly anti-gun state :) Given the fact that the range is PUBLIC and there are a significant number of idiots out there I’m quite impressed that they have so few incidents. Most of the regulars are nice people and its a great place to shoot or buy a gun.

Went in today for some target practice, there was a few people there before me. we talked to the guy there at the counter, he answered my questions and was very helpful. we rented 2 handguns and a shotgun with a box of bullets for every gun along with targets, ear and eye protection. the lanes were clean the only reason they didn’t get a 5 is how dated there machines were to carry was hot outside but inside was cool and refreshing. i have been to a few shooting ranges but this one is the cheapest. i will definitely return when I want to shoot… and recommend this place. they also have guns rifles and shotguns aswell as accessories for sale at good prices.

Great staff, safe and friendly. Will come back. Took 315 year old boys who had a blast. I felt they were safe at all times and learned a good lesson about the power of a rifle and handgun, its not just a video game now!

Took my son to Shooter’s Paradise for his first time shooting today. I was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews but the staff and the facilities were excellent. I highly recommend this range for casual shooting.

Have you noticed ALL the one star review seem to use the EXACT same language and reference another shooting site? That is a sure sign they are phony posts and not real customers. My guess would be that the other range mentions is not doing so well business wise and that they are putting their«friends» up to the posts here. Oh and I APPLAUD this range for being GREEN, the banning of lead ammunition and lead primers is both a personal health and environmental issue I GREATLY appreciate. These guys put SAFETY over money!

Well, I guess all good things must come to an end. I’ve really enjoyed shooting here over the last few years, but I ran into a snag and realized that this place is not for me. I went to shoot after work, as I do frequently. I brought my own ammo, which was brass case, no steel, no aluminum, non-corrosive primer. I was not allowed to shoot it, because the box didn’t specifically say«NONTOXIC primer» on it. I have never heard this before at any other range and ended up having to buy their shitty reloads for $ 18(50 rounds). The funny thing is I was actually going to sign up as a member on that day(glad I didn’t). I buy my ammo in bulk and if I can’t shoot it there, i guess I have to take my business elsewhere. I called Island View Enterprises, which is close by and they will allow any ammo, as long as no steel or aluminum cases. I guess I found a new home :) I will post a review when I go there

Decided to shop local instead of going down to Los Angeles to get a work discount on a firearm. Debbie behind the counter seemed very helpful and friendly Prepurchase. She showed me the different guns they offer and though she pushed certain firearms I was unable to carry, I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she wasn’t just trying to be a salesman, but instead, a gun enthusiast, just relating with another in finding the best possible weapon. She promised that on the 4th of April my gun would be in, but that she would call me on the 27th, first thing in the morning to confirm with me. A few days go by and no phone call, so i decided to call and spoke with another individual. He stated that he had seen my paperwork and that it in fact would be there Monday and that they would definitely call me when it came in Monday since there was a lack of communication on their part prior to this. Due to my work schedule, I was planning on picking it up on Saturday the 9th. No phone call was ever received on this end until Friday night. They called to inform me that they were just now starting the background check. I had informed the individual over the phone that they promised me the gun would be ready 4 days ago and that Debbie was happy to sell it to me with either a lack of communication on the estimated time of arrival, or false promises. The poor girl over the phone stated she had just gotten back from vacation and had no idea what I was talking about but that Debbie was available to talk to. I spoke with Debbie and she stated that if she knew my current situation, she would’ve put forth more effort into getting the gun at the time she stated it would be here. I don’t run a business, but when you promise someone that has spent $ 1200 dollars in your store, and i’m SURE miss, that you are making commission off this sale, that you would put forth not only effort, but any sort of vague attempt to get this situation fixed. You never called me. You never emailed me. You never bothered to even have someone else call to let me know that the gun wouldn’t be ready. YOU, Debbie, are the reason why locally owned businesses are failing to compete with larger corporate companies. Local business prides itself with customer service. Something you never bothered to learn. I will not make this mistake twice and will be using the shooting range in Ventura from now on. Don’t bother ever purchasing anything from these folks. They are greedy lazy people looking to make a dollar and that’s it.

This place will never get another dollar of mine!!! I got home from work about 630 and called to see what time they close. They said 9. Great! Called up a my buddies we all had recently bought new guns and were itching to shoot them. I started my journey from simi picking them up and we got there at 8:03. Thinking we’d get a few round before they close. NOPE! Sorry they don’t take anyone after 8. I explained that we just wanted to put a few rounds down range and we could be done in 30 minutes and we drove from simi. He could care less. We were 3 minutes late. Well I have taken all my business since, shooting and purchases to a nice island with a view in ventura where I can shoot any ammo clean or dirty just no steel. And everyone there treats you with respect too. I also tell everyone I talk to about my experience.

If you take your ammo, it must be 100 percent lead free. Even the primer. The box MUST say lead free. They don’t have the proper ventilation system and can’t handle any kind of lead. Web site says $ 12 for non member shooters. Realized I got charged $ 15 when I got home and looked at my receipt. The facility was okay. Lanes were well lit. Staff was friendly but I can’t go back when I can’t shoot any of my ammo that is safe at ALL other indoor ranges. In response to Martin’s comment: Poor ventilation and old building is the reason your staff gave, not me jumping to conclusions. I’m all for lowering toxicity but I have been to many indoor ranges and this is the first range that required my 9 mm, 38 special and 40 S&W ammo to say 100 percent lead free on the box. It wouldn’t be a problem for me if I had bought the correct ammo for your range. But I can’t invest into buying more ammo just so I can shoot at a specific range.

I appreciated that they had Military days on Thursday :) My request to people who go in groups: PLEASE call them ahead of time! When we go in and all the rental guns are out, because there is a bachelor party or something, it sucks. If you call a day ahead of time, they can prepare.

This place is awesome! I’ve been going to many ranges around town and so far they are the best! They are courteous and great customer service! They have great prices compared to other range. Other places charge about $ 20 plus another $ 10 for rental. Their ammo is also affordable! They have great targets to choose from and cheap! Overall, this place is great! The man at the resister is superb! Too bad this place is too far from home.

As one of the only ranges in Ventura County, I’m glad Shooter’s Paradise is such a nice place. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and I’ve always gotten good service from them. I purchased a handgun here, and also come to the range once or twice a month to practice. Their selection of firearms and accessories available for purchase is good. When I wanted ear protection, the staff was happy to tell me about the things they had available in the store, but also recommended I try a custom product they didn’t sell, to make sure I got something that worked best for me, rather than to just make a sale. They also have a reasonable selection of hand guns to rent and use on their range. My husband was glad to rent and shoot their Smith & Wesson 500(one of the largest production model hand guns in the world). It let him experience the gun before deciding if he wanted to purchase one. They have a large variety of targets for purchase to use on the range, including some cute/funny ones with zombies and the like. It makes me want to create my own and bring them in so I can shoot at pictures of the squirrels in my yard or the rats ruining my shed.
