Red Roof Washington, DC-Oxon Hill/National Harbor

I didn’t have huge problems with this hotel as all of the other reviewers did. My room on the first floor was clean and it was quiet. The wifi was unusable, it was so slow. It did have a nice sized TV, but hardly any channels. I did like that the floors were «wood,» I think it’s more sanitary than carpet. I checked in at 10 pm, so I had to use the side «night check-​in window.» The side of the window where you check in is in a tiny room with 2 vending machines and is so loud that you can’t hear the clerk on the other side of the window. The snack vending machine was broken. It is near many restaurants and shops, which is good. It is also very close to the airport. This is definitely on the bottom of the list of quality for a Red Roof Inn, but I found it acceptable for the price, considering its proximity to the airport. I checked prices on other hotels close to the airport and they were much more expensive.
This is the type of hotel where the doors are on the outside of the building and there are outside stairs to the other floors. If I were comparing it to other Red Roof Inns or comparably priced hotels in a different, smaller city, yes, it probably would have gotten one less star. I don’t think the staff was unhelpful or rude, but they were definitely curt. I found this hotel to be acceptable for my needs and a good value.

If you’re looking for a place to rest to continue your travels by all means please keep driving. Anywhere has to be better than this! The smoke detector was not mounted or working. The walls are paper thin so every time someone walks by you wake up. Not to mention the fact that some staff in the middle of the night called themselves trying to get into our room… At least I hope it was staff bec their key card opened our door. Thank GOD for the privacy latch though he couldn’t get the door all the way open. Didn’t even apologize just said «Sir!» because they saw my boyfriend then slammed the door shut just as quickly as they tried to fling it open. My suspicion is they got complaints from someone about our NOISY neighbors who were honking a horn in a car and arguing over a key? All I know is I was awaken by some man yelling «I WILL GIVE YOU THE KEY JUST LET ME PUT MY FOOD DOWN!» because whoever tried opening our door I could hear him from the other side talking on maybe a phone asking someone to confirm the room number and it was NOT our. I swear if my boyfriend wasn’t so laid back I’m sure I could have convinced him to go demand a refund. Also dnt bother trying to regulate the shower water temp. Your options are hot or burn your skin off so. ENJOY…

Stayed here for two nights while I got my LASIK done. The room was basic, bathroom was fine. The problem was with the blanket in that it smelled, didn’t know if they cleaned it at all. Lucky I have my own blanket in my vehicle. At night the room was looked bright even though I had all the lights off. The lights from outside the door and window came in the room ad though there was no seal at all. Made for a very rough two nights trying to fall asleep

This is advertised on the internet as pet friendly and it is not. The non-​smoking rooms smell like smoke and it’s completely absurd to charge $ 90 a night for this dump. The only reason I’m giving it a start at all is because you can’t leave a review without it.

Probably one of the worst RRI I’ve stayed in simply because of the service. I arrived at 430. My room wasn’t ready. Unless I wanted smoking? Um no. I also didn’t get the ground floor room I requested. Then I got asked to leave the building while he went and found a maid to see if she had something cleaned up yet. So very frustrating. Came back the next day and I had forgotten a razor. So I stopped at the front before going to my room. She asked if I was a guest and looked me up before getting me one! Seriously? No I’m not a guest, just a random person on the street driving by asking for a razor!
Worst red roof inn ever. And I travel ALL the time.

Front desk service is awful. They keep the front lobby closed all day and make you use the side door and and the security window, but yet all the «homeboys» are hanging out in the lobby having a party… Trash
