Sunset Room

Been here many times. Recently visited for an awards dinner. Food was delicious as the Cornish hen was crispy and the mushrooms risotto was solid.

The Sunset Room by Wolfgang Puck made our wedding day picture perfect! The décor, stunning backdrop, organized staff, restaurant-​style food preparation, and general ambiance and vibe are second to none. The planning process was made simple working with the highly skilled and organized Kathi Lasek. She is the heart & soul of this venue, and is dedicated to ensuring the comfort & happiness of couples on their big day. She is hands down the best in this business in the DMV, and we are so thankful we had this experience with her at Wolfgang Puck Catering! The chefs also work to create culinary masterpieces that complement the bride & groom’s pallet… For our wedding, they had a special friend green tomato complimented with goat cheese that was the hit of cocktail hour. Not to mention, people who were commenting how the steak and chicken were so flavorful, tender, and prepared to perfection! We were blessed with gorgeous April weather, and guests were wowed with the circular ceremony space that made our ceremony feel so intimate, the wrap around terrace overlooking the hustle & bustle of the plaza at National Harbor, and the breathtaking Harbor View room with floor to ceiling windows that showcase Mother Nature’s beautiful sunsets over the Potomac. There is so much value in going with this venue for your wedding or special event… The clean designed lines, the modern accents, and yet the timeless feel of the foyers and wood accents make this an excellent backdrop for casual or black tie occasions. In addition, there is flexibility to make this space your own since your package allows you to select standards linens in upward of 20 colors! I really appreciated this, as it allowed my purple-​hued vision to come to life! We appreciate how closely the venue worked with us to ensure we had the correct accommodations (i.e. assisting in the rental of a conference space above the venue for our ketubah ceremony, and renting a tv for a kid space we created during the reception). From a business perspective, managing the details to the contract was seamless… The tasting and venue walk throughs were also incredibly on point. In addition, the quick response to communication made us feel like we were a top priority — even as they were managing several large scale events during the same timeframe as our wedding.

My husband and I had our reception in the Sunset Room and our wedding ceremony on the West Pier. Both locations are fantastic — absolutely beautiful for a wedding. The Sunset Room has panoramic views of the Potomac and has large terraces for cocktail hour and mingling. I definitely recommend renting the Sunset Room!
I gave this location three stars because of the witch you have to deal with when renting the space. She was unpleasant to work with from the day we signed the contract on — no need to be nice once the contract is signed right? If you want one word email responses (when you get a response) and the constant feeling that you’re annoying the venue coordinator, book here! The icing on the cake was when she freaked out on me three days before the wedding, stating that I hadn’t told her I was going to have a limo down on the Pier and «she needs to know this information» and «she should have been told a long time ago» blah blah blah. I didn’t tell her about the limo cause there wasn’t one. That’s right — she kirked out on me for no reason — leaving voicemails on both my cell and my work phone and writing at least five frantic emails. Always nice to have the venue coordinator bring the bride to tears — again, for no reason — only a few short days before the wedding. I decided to leave her name out of this review… but it rhymes with SCARY.
