Super friendly and helpful service! Found what I needed within a minute of entering the store(that I’ve never seen before). Everything you need to brew, ferment, and(what do you call making cheese? Cheesing?).

Great stock, incredibly knowledgable staff helpful for the virgin brewer and experienced brewer alike. Lots of wine making and even some cheese making tools & supplies. I enjoyed the Living social coupon class with a live demo of brewing from a kit that made me feel comfortable to start brewing on my own @ home.

I have no idea why the other reviews are so down on this place! The location isn’t right in your backyard? How awful! Get over it, this has nothing to do with the quality of service and product. Not everything will be your ass adjacent. They are right off of Highway 65 and CC, it may not be in Springfield, but it’s a straight shot. About 12 minutes from Battlefield and 65. I walked in recently with nothing but a little interest and a vague recipe and they helped me with EVERYTHING. No rushing or treating me as inferior for not knowing anything and said to call if I had any question. They didn’t try to sell me things I didn’t need or up sell anything. Oh, and big upside, cheaper than even Amazon. They accepted that I was interested in home brewing, helped me out and understood I didn’t want to pour too much money into the project until I get more of a hang on things. Bottom line: Great place and awesome service.

Not sure how you can give a business 2 stars b/c they didn’t have the item you were looking for that day when you didn’t take 30 seconds to call and ask. I thought they were very helpful and friendly. They have more of a selection than I’ll ever need. They were a little more pricey than other internet brewery stores, but much more convenient, and I’d rather keep my business local

I was scouring the internet for someplace that had cobalt blue flip-top beer bottles for sale in quantities less than a full case. I found the Home Brewery. My order was processed quickly, and the bottles arrived securely packaged, as if they were pure gold. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

I am definitely a fan of the Home Brewery. I completely sympathize with Jeremy B’s complaint of it being all the way in Ozark. That sucks. Luckily I have never ran into a problem with them being out of what I need. Ozark is only 10 miles away, but its another world down there, full of nothing but schools, STD’s(from what I’ve heard…), camo-wearing truck drivers, antiques, and IMHO, a pretty cool brew shop. Its super low-tech and down home, pretty much operating out of some mega-shipping crates(like the one Tony and Ziva got stuck in on NCIS) and a small store front. We’ll say it has«personality». For the most part, they have tons of different ingredients for beer and wine. They keep a ton of grains around, as well as many different extract options. They offer a lot of extract & specialty grain kits that are compiled in the shop if you are looking for an easy way to brew. It also seems like they have pretty high turnover of stock, especially for popular styles of beer. You can easily walk in there as a new brewer, drop your $ 200 bucks and get everything you will need. From my experience their customer service has been great. Every time I have had a question or a comment about something, they have either answered it or provided a good alternative. However, there was one time where one of the guys was wrong about yeast pitching rates for lager beers(no matter what anyone says, you need to do a starter). But, I guess that doesn’t matter now after you’ve spent hundreds of hours researching… But if you come in knowing nothing, they can easily get you going. Keep an eye out in here and you can score some sweat deals. They offer up used stuff-from carboys to kegs to wort chillers. There is also an extensive literature section if you need one of the bibles of brewing. Lastly, I find the pricing to be very fair when comparing online. The only thing I don’t like about their pricing is that the hops are not priced up front. Its never nice to find out that Hallertau jumped up $ 2.50 from last month… So just ask. I’ve had good experiences with special orders too, so if you are looking to brew something that is not popular here, or something they don’t keep a lot of on hand-think Belgian Yeast strains, just give them a call. And definitely, support this brew shop.

I was excited that there was a homebrew store in the area, after moving here from a place at had quite a few close by. The big downside, if you live in Springfield anyways, is that it a good 25 – 30 minute drive to get there. I made my first trek out there to pick up supplies and when I got there, they were out of stock for one of the main items I was looking for. I should have called before I went out there, but was sort of irked when the staff I talked to made no attempt to help me find a substitute or help me find anything else I needed. When I explained I had driven from Springfield on my day off, he simple shrugged«come back Monday.» I got the impression that they are really an online-sales store and just happen to have a store front, but most, if not all of their focus is on their web sales. They did, however, seem to have an exhaustive inventory, which is always a good thing for creative homebrewers. I’ll definitely be giving them another shot and hopefully my experience with their customer service will be better.
