Waffel King

I don’t know if the other 2 reviews which were both 5 stars and praised the cleanliness of the place were from employees or nor but this restaurant is in desperate need of a deep cleaning. I’m uploading a picture of the wall white sitting at the table waiting for our food. I do want to mention that the table tops and benches looked clean and the cook was wearing food prep gloves. In addition to the cleanliness, the place was heavily filled with cigarette smoke. I know things are a bit different in this area than in Shreveport, LA where I’m from but I was surprised walking in to the heavily smoke-​filled restaurant with my wife along with my 4 and 2 year old kids. I didn’t realize smoking in restaurants was still allowed here as I had not encountered it before in AL.
On a positive note, the food was good. My wife’s thin piece of country ham came out hard as a rock, seriously hard, unable to cut it with their knives hard. However, our friendly waitress readily offered to replace it and my wife swapped it out for a grilled chicken breast which was super juicy but my wife said it wasn’t flavored as well as she gets at the Waffle House near our house. The pancakes were light and very delicious, better than we’ve had at a restaurant in a long time, way better than IHOP’S blah pancakes. The coffee, patty sausage, and hash browns were all excellent too.
Our server was very friendly and kept checking on us and offering drink refills and even offered to-​go drinks.
It is a greasy spoon diner type place so I can overlook some of the cleanliness issues as long as what our food touches it clean but the smoke was do bad that we would not return. If you are a smoker or being around more than just a light cigarette smoke while eating does not bother you, and you don’t have little kids that you try to prevent from inhaling it, I think you will find this to be an excellent place to go for a laid-​back diner breakfast.

Just fabulous. Granted, it’s not exquisite, but the food is tasty, the place is clean, the server is nice, and the cook is doing a real good job keeping up with the sudden rush when my greyhound bus unloaded to eat here. Nothing to complain about at all.

Man this place is clean… clean and Good Food !!! The staff is very friendly from the cooks to the servers. Food quality and value is great.
