I haven’t actually been in to see this doctor yet but trying to get an appointment has been such a hassle that I am going to go through the hassle with my insurance company to once again change my PCM. We are new to the area and unfortunately our choices of doctor’s that accept our insurance are limited. We tried on Monday to set up three appointments. One for my husband who is sick. One for me because I need to see a local doctor so I can have my thyroid meds refilled. My doctor back home won’t refill my prescription because it’s time to have my levels checked and I can’t do that when I’m now 10 hours away. My son is almost 6 months old and needs his 6 month well baby check up and immunizations. They weren’t able to get my husband — who is SICK — an appointment until Thursday. They still have not called back about setting up an appointment for me. I’ve done this tons of time. I need to fast the night before, go have my blood drawn in the morning and the doctor checks my thyroid levels and refills my prescription. Of course, by the time they finally call with an appointment my levels will be out of whack, I’m sure. Even though they are a FAMILY practice clinic, they are unable to do a well baby check up and immunizations and aren’t sure if they can refer me to a pediatrician who WILL do it. It doesn’t help that when I first moved here, I took all of my kids to a pediatrician that was recommended to us and accepted our insurance only to find out that he wasn’t a PCM so I couldn’t use him without a referral. Well, in order to get a referral for my children to see this AMAZING doctor with AMAZING staff, I have to first go through this doctor’s office that I can’t even get an appointment with. It’s SO frustrating. So, while this doctor may be awesome I haven’t been able to even see him yet because«it takes longer when you are a new patient» so I wouldn’t know. To top it off, my son is now sick with whatever my husband has but I can’t get an appointment for him today because he’s a new patient so it takes longer to get an appointment. It’s total nonsense and I’m disappointed. Needless to say, I will be contacting my insurance company this morning and changing my PCM and hopefully taking my son to see a doctor that will see him today because he’s sick and not put him off because he’s a new patient.
