Bay Area’s Best

My daughter has been going Bay Area’s Best for three years now. Sensei Darryl is amazing with her. She can get easily distracted and he is good about keeping her on track. He’s also very patient is isn’t one of those teachers who pushes kids to the point where they don’t want to come back. He has a way of working with them that makes them want to learn (gentle but firm). My daughter wanted to quit after her first year because she was struggling a bit. She agreed to stay with it until she got her orange belt. As soon as she got her orange belt, she was so excited she didn’t want to quit any longer. Now she’s working toward her yellow belt and she’s really close (if only I could get her to practice more!). It’s very affordable, the class time is perfect (6:30) and it’s convenient (right off Highway 1). If you’re looking for a great karate class for your child, then you should send them here.

My daughter has been going to Bay Areas Best for 3 months now and we couldn’t be happier with her progress! Sensei Darryl really cares for the kids and pushes them to never give up. In every class, you will see progress. Sensei works with the parents to make sure we know what to look for when we practice at home too! When you walk in the dojo, it’s like you’re part of a family.
For all the working parents who can’t fit in gym time, there’s a treadmill, bike and elliptical that you can use while your little one is crushing it on the mat.
This place is awesome. A hidden gem in Pacifica and a great place for little ones to learn discipline, values, exercise and the beautiful art of Kosho Ryu Mitose Kempo Karate.

Great for Kids! Great Teacher! Great Price! This Martial Arts place is an ideal place for anybody that wants to get their kids to learn Japanese Kenpo Karate! The teacher is very patient and he is very effective at teaching children the art form. I have a 7 and a 10 year old and I highly recommend Bay Areas Best to kids and adults as well! Sensei Darryl is great for ALL AGES!!!

Sensei Darryl and Sensei Eric Dobashi have been training in the art of Kosho Ryu Kenpo (
) for as long as I can remember (30+ years). They both have taken national titles in the National Black Belt League (NBL) and have been very active in Sport Karate tournaments throughout the 80’s and 90’s. The Dobashi brothers are very easy going guys who love the art and want to continue to pass on tradition and their knowledge to their students. Students will also have the added luxury of having Grandmaster Mark Mitose (Hanshi), Sensei Ken Torres and Sensei Boogie Torres to learn from as they drop by frequently to help instruct classes.
This class will teach you the history of Kosho Ryu, self defense techniques, Katas (forms), and Kumite (sparring). In these teachings, you will also develop self confidence, respect for others, and a love for martial arts. Students can learn at their own pace in a comfortable environment without pressure.
