We have used this hotel several times as our stopping off point midway to visiting family and it has always proved to be a clean and affordable place to stay. We only stop by twice a year so our visits are infrequent. This time, things just didn’t go well, not sure what has happened but this has been a not-so-nice stay. The room smelled of smoke, the interior of the door, by the latch was very dirty, the dresser was levelled with a rolled up piece of paper, the bathroom smelled of urine and there was a little spider in there to greet me as well. I adjust my hotel stay expectations based on price but even for this price, the room was decidedly gross.

Staff was very friendly but one of the dirtiest motels I’ve ever been in. At first glance it wasn’t so bad. Overall it was just not cleaned well. I was offered another room, which I agreed to, but it was just as bad. Personally, just too dirty for me. I ended up asking for a refund and drove 20 miles down the road to a different motel. This place would be great for one of those tv shows where they help a hotel/motel that isn’t successful.

Not bad to get a night’s sleep on a road trip. Traffic can be heard as it is right off the highway, but the bed is comfortable and the room clean. There is also a fridge, which many similar places don’t offer. The outside looks pretty rundown, but the staff was friendly and the price was right. There are a few restaurants and a gas station nearby. Also had free wifi.

We booked this hotel as a stop over for our long drive from Florida to Illinois. We had our dog with us, which narrowed down the selection of hotels. When I stumbled upon this hotel, I liked that it was right off of the interstate and that it had been recently remodeled. I wouldn’t normally stay in a Super 8, but this one looked nice. It was also a good price at around $ 60/night. Unfortunately, the remodel was like putting lipstick on a pig. Were the rooms remodeled? Yes. However, it was as if the remodel was just masking other major problems. There were a couple of flies flying around the room when we entered. We also started getting bit by mosquitoes in the room within minutes of being in there. We sat on the bed to turn our laptop on and my fiancé started noticing what seemed to be dried food stains on the comforter and the pillows that smelled as if they hadn’t been washed. As I was logging onto the free WiFi, the power in the room went off and on about 4 times. We knew we could not continue to stay here. We checked out less than an hour of checking in. I can’t believe how disappointing this place was. One good thing out of this whole thing is that the desk clerk was really nice and understanding when I told him why we were checking out and got the manager to give us a refund. Needless to say, we are very happily staying the night at a beautiful hotel down the street.

I called and spoke with the manager before I made reservations and received a good rate – $ 50/night per room; with tax, it ended up being $ 57. That’s better than the $ 69 or so they advertised on the Internet. Check-in was hassle-free. A couple suggestions: book a room away from the stairs and on the second floor. The remodel didn’t make the wood floors soundproof, so definitely get a second floor room. The room itself was pretty nice for the rate. Apparently the motel was recently remodeled. The mattress was firm, with three decent pillows, and a fairly modern color scheme. The bathroom was clean, and I liked the granite counter top. WiFi was good; there were also Ethernet ports, but I didn’t try those. My friend had a separate room and hated it. It didn’t help that he was next to a bunch of guys having a late-night party. Even though a phone call helped bring the noise down a bit, the partiers weren’t silent. Honestly, I didn’t mind the room. Yes, there were a couple sketchy characters hanging out on the walkway near my room, but they left and I didn’t worry.
