Great stop on the way to a beach. The sushi is tasty and there are many options. Four pages of sushi. Non sushi options also exist in the last page of the menu. Nice indoors area.

When checking out this shopping center we spotted Mighty Sushi and decided to give it a try. We got a big platter of sushi and rolls to take home. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Reasonably priced as well. Our selection was nothing too exotic and basically«American» style sushi which was perfectly fine. I’d go back and order some other things as well next time. It took about 30 minutes to prepare(I guess you could call ahead and order too) so we shopped at the nearby Malama Market while waiting. A family run, casual restaurant(you can also eat there) well worth a visit.

This business is closed on Sunday’s and Monday’s…Boo! We love this little sushi shop. All the sushi is good but I normally order the Hell Hot and the Volcano Roll. If you’re complaining about a $ 12 roll of sushi you’re in the wrong state. That’s the general cost of a decent sushi roll in Hawaii. I do agree, service is a little slow. Suggested remedy… Enjoy a bowl of Miso while the chef prepares your sushi. The shop is small, clean and quiet. It can get a little warm during the summer months. There’s nothing fancy about this place. There is nothing fancy about anything in this area. If you’re expecting someone to wait on you hand and foot, that’s not going to happen here. There is normally only one waitress on duty and the two chefs. The owners little boy hangs around the shop but he’s very friendly. My son wandered over to him one day and he was nice enough to share his ipad with him because my son forgot his. This area is very country. If you don’t have that type of personality and you’re looking for high end dinning, you need to go to Waikoloa or Waikiki.

Had an early dinner there today. Food was fresh, portions were large, price was reasonable, and the service was good. This is a small family run restaurant, very homey with a few children running around. Very Pahoa. I will eat there again.

I have dined there four times and the first was the only one that I was happy with the food and atmosphere ! The last three times I have to say I was disappointed. The tempura shrimp was old and stale and one off the sushi was very fishy when it should not have been. Don’t go for lunch as they usually have there child there at work who is unruly and they play his kids shows on the tv there at a loud volume.

An unassuming little spot in the Pahoa shopping area near Malama Market. My mom and I came into the restaurant and had to do a double take because it looked like they were closed, except for one other customer eating. We waited awkwardly at the door and a lady appeared and informed us we can seat where we please. A little boy, maybe her son, tossed some menus on the table and sauntered off. We were given waters by a timid young girl who avoided making eye contact. Well, we know that some places lack ambiance and personality, so we were there to try the food anyways. Which promptly arrived at our table. Mom had the kani roll and I had the rainbow roll. We also both had a bowl of miso soup. In total the charge was $ 25.12, this includes the tip. The sushi was alright. I really enjoyed most of my rainbow roll and my mom thought her kani rolls were ok, but nothing jaw dropping. I think next time we will try take-out, rather than dining in. I’m all for showing your children your place of work and hopefully instilling a sense of business pride in them, but please don’t have your child running around with his toys throughout the restaurant being loud. Just my two cents, but I do recommend trying this place out, maybe for take-out though.

My wife and I and other family have become fans of Mighty Sushi. It is not a sophisticated place with great décor and smooth fast service. But it is a friendly casual small Hawaiian town restaurant with good food and has pretty good prices. They aren’t the fastest, true, but it’s a lot better than getting something wrapped in plastic from the market! We’ve become regulars, this is a nice place to eat. Ocean Sushi in Hilo may be a little better, but it’s great that we have a sushi place this good in Pahoa.

Let me start by saying the sushi here isn’t bad. It just really isn’t anything that you couldn’t get at KTA or Safeway. Got a spicy combo roll and it had too much mayo. Also had a Hell Hot and found it sweet. There was no heat to that roll whatsoever. On a random not, if you want a hot roll, go to Sushi Rock in Hawi and get the Pele’s revenge roll. Got one of the rolls that were fried, and it had a burnt taste. The service wasn’t too bad. You have to get up and head tot he counter if you want quicker service. Price was pretty good though.

The atmosphere is cute and inviting considering it’s at the end of a strip mall. No air conditioning the night that I went there. I would give the service 1 star and the sushi 3 stars, which is the reason for my 2-star rating. The server barely spoke english and passed us on the water refill(but turned around, scanned the room and caught my eye-contact and then refilled our water). One word of great advice my boyfriend had from a bad experience was DONOT make eye-contact or talk to the little boy that is hanging around in the restaurant. My boyf and his friend ate there, started talking to the little boy, and he didn’t leave them alone for the remainder of their lunch. His parents didn’t seem to care that he was basically bothering their customers. Not to be mean and say that you shouldn’t pay attention to kids, but their experience was a little too much… and they both love kids! I agree with the reviewer before me… don’t sit down and expect your food there in a blink. It’s going to take a good 15 – 20 minutes. You’ll have to be very patient and have a lot of time free if you want you eat here. It seemed like there was only one guy making the sushi in the front. After we were finished with our meal our bill didn’t come and really didn’t look like it would be coming anytime soon, so we had to go up and pay it. We were there at around 6:00/6:30 pm on a weekday night and there were about 6 other people eating in the restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi is OK and different from a lot of places, so I would probably go back, but definitely only a pick-up order instead of eating in!

Great sushi! I usually take-out, since my kids don’t care too much for sushi, but the restaurant has a nice, casual atmosphere. I hope to get a chance to sit and enjoy the setting and tasty food. The only reason I don’t rate Mighty Sushi with 5 stars is because service is slow. If you don’t have time to wait, call your order in.
