Out in the middle of no where, with no reception, no internet, or cable. Just peace and quiet. May be a howl at night from coyotes, birds chirping, and a horse or two not talking like Mr. Ed. This horse ranch is owned by Don and Ronnie Douglas. Been there for 18 years, and everything hand built by Don. The little cabins with hand made bunk beds, cob mess hall with old school wood oven and communal kitchen space with lounge chairs, and then nice big bathrooms with showers all piped, tiled and installed by Don. Every archway, fence, stable, tables, chairs, were built by this man. Over 40 years of being a horse trainer and ranch owner, he learned all his skills growing up in Minnesota, where men were taught every Do-It-Yourself tasks. Definitely amazing. So besides being a ranch you can just rent a cabin in, and hang out at the mess hall for board games, eating and drinking. Walk about his property to check out the horses, sheep, donkey, cows, chickens and even feral cats. Or across the street he has a water tower, bone pile or just a nice dry field to lay a picnic blanket to look at the amazing cloud formations above.(Cabins are $ 40 a night). Lastly, its not only travel destination, but a great place for you to house your horse. It will definitely be taken care of and Don is a trained professional, great at taming horses and disciplining them. He enters mustang competitions all the time so he knows how to master the skills at being a horse whisperer. A true horseman, and cowboy. So if you need a place to just get away from city life, to breathe some fresh air, be near farm life and just kick it. Take a chance at Douglas Ranch to unwind and be completely away from it all.
