I’ve stayed here a few times over the past few years. The rooms are clean But are a bit dated. They do have an indoor/outdoor pool and an hot tub. They also have billiard tables, ping pong tables and card tables. I personally thing the rates are a bit pricey for the accommodations and usually drive further to find a place with snore affordable rate.

Stayed here for business and I had a pleasant time while I was here. Pros-They have a sport bar located in the lobby, also a nice restaurant, pool and hot tub available. Con– they have a limited exercise room, they have lots of events here from pool birthday party’s, to wedding and conventions. So at time it can get crowded. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I had a good stay here! Very sweet staff, big rooms, and peace and quiet. There’s also a cute gift shop that features jewelry, paintings, etc. created by different Appalachian artists. The atrium in the central area of the hotel is extremely charming. It’s a cute spot for a small, simple, and intimate wedding. Only frustrations I had was that the wifi was slow. Cell reception is also EXTREMELY limited, but that’s a given in the mountains… not something the hotel can really fix. I’d stay here again!

I’m rating this five stars(instead of the four I would’ve given it) out of principle for the other 2 reviews that slammed Paintsville’s best accomodation(you can research this as well) which gives you a southern/country feel that I grew up around and loved. I’ve lived in Las Vegas, NV for close to 5 years and there is a definite culture change from this slow paced town of 5000 people to the faster paced city of 2.5 million. I can assure anyone that the $ 70 a night I spent here gave me better service and is better value than other hotels I paid this same amount for elsewhere. The hotel is reasonably located in the middle of town next to the local hospital and is not too far a drive to the downtown area and under a 15 minute drive to the beautiful golf course or the lake(with a nice marina/restaurant). With the city becoming wet about 2 years ago, they also opened what I heard is the best bar in town, JB’s, but closes early at 10pm. Service was slow when I was there but that’s what I expected knowing. The bar was very clean and reasonably priced, and is definitely a happening place if there are any Kentucky Basketball games going on. The hotel has a convenient indoor/outdoor pool with whirlpool that they have maintained now for over 20 years. The open spaces, iron railings and fixtures are very unique as compared to most other Ramada Inns. This is due to the hotel being privately owned and operated as the Carriage House Inn many years before Ramada took over. Growing up, I’ve attended many receptions(weddings, seasonal dinners, award ceremonies) in their ballroom to know that the food tastes great and is more of a diverse menu that doesn’t just serve southern dishes. I’m not sure how it is as of recent. There is not a whole lot going on in this town but if you were curious to see what is here during a busy time of the year, try to stop into town and visit during the fall around the first weekend of October during the apple festival. At this time of year, the leaves should be changing different colors to make the countryside more scenic. My best advice to out of town Unilocalers is this. Yes, the town is small, people live life at a slower pace and talk with thick southern accents but, if you be friendly and respect these folks, they will double the same friendliness in return.

Goodness gracious… I decided to stay here for the night for an interview in the morning. and boyyyyy, did I not have a peaceful night… The previous review was indeed right and I unfortunately had one of those rooms that open directly into the atrium of the hotel. There was a birthday party that night and the music was blasted on until 11pm. I should of requested for another back room but I was too lazy and was already sick since I was already comfortable in bed studying… In general, I don’t think a hotel should have such event unless it is in their ballroom or something! It bothers other hotel tennants, which is not great for those needing some rest. I guess this is what they do for revenue in such a small town. Otherwise, the room was very spacious for about $ 65. It was clean and did the tricks for my short stay. Check out was easy and I didn’t have any problems with the hotel. I guess this is what they do on weekend nights to partayy in Paintsville, KY!

This place will never not smell like stale cigarette smoke. A great place for your 7th/8th grade dance or band concert – especially for all the poor saps whose hotel rooms open directly onto the gym-like atrium where all these lovely events occur! The buffet breakfast is served in the windowless hotel restaurant, so there’s none of that pesky natural light to wake you up and get you running in the morning. The sausage gravy for the biscuits was absolutely shameful, and didn’t even contain any sausage. Was it vegetarian gravy? This ought to be punishable by death in the south. The shampoo, conditioner, and soap were all citrus-scented. I stepped out of the shower feeling like I had bathed in Sunny D. On the upside, the pool is both indoors AND outdoors, and you can simply swim under the wall to go back and forth. At least, you could in theory; the pool was closed for renovation during my visit. Judging by what I saw around town, this may be the nicest hotel in Paintsville. If you’re coming to this(beautiful) area, you’re probably better off in a rental cabin or B&B.
