I was extremely saddened to see that they closed. They were truly a hole in the wall restaurant, but the food was delicious. Their food had that wow factor that most places are missing. You guys will be missed.

A legit 5 out of 5 stars. Gourmet wrapped up in a carry out/delivery joint. Had the Creole Mac and Cheese, Meatballs, spinach and artichoke dip, flatbread pie… All have been legit. Alright a week later ordered a flatbread(pizza). It was the best I’ve had in this area. I am a pizza buff. That is legit!

We went solely for takeout… I got takeout from here because of a Groupon I received — yet it was merely a stimulus to do it again. I suspect this establishment is relatively new as of the fall of 2015. I’d been in this area before, and never heard of them. Having said that… I’d recommend you give it a try. The food selection is eclectic. The appetizers are varied from fresh brie with walnuts, apples and bread to stuffed mushrooms to hummus(which we tried). They have entrees ranging from beef stew to spinach and mushroom lasagna — where the ingredients seemed fresh. A big specialty seems to be the flatbreads; and that’s where we focused. We got a BBQ beef with Gouda which was quite filling. We also got something with spinach, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, olives, goat chees, e, and a tomato sauce — which seemed like a healthy vegetable pizza. I was quite impressed with the variety, the freshness, and the uniqueness.

Updated to say I’ve been back twice and have now had the bread pudding, mac and cheese, spinach salad and meatball sub. Surprisingly, the mac and cheese was the least of my favorites. I’m a fan of fluffy baked mac and cheese, not saucy. It was also a bit greasy to me likely owing to the delicious andouille. I’m updating because I’m actually craving that mac and cheese. The meatball sandwich was delightful, but the spinach salad was what will keep me coming back. I ate it for two glorious days. It was the best salad I’ve ever had. Just the perfect combination of the freshest ingredients. So imma get more mac and cheese and another spinach salad real soon!!”

I loved it. You can always count on Unilocal to cue you into restaurants that are inexpensive, off the beaten path, and delicious whenever you are stuck at a really boring conference out-of-town. This place is small, no indoor seating, and has excellent service by the owner who mans the front. While I waited for my food I was treated to a taste test some of his soups that I did not order. I had the butternut squash soup and an heirloom tomato salad that tastes like it was kissed by angels. They go very light on salt here, and that may be good or bad for you, but I added a little sprinkle to my soup to sharpen the flavor, but if you’re watching your sodium, it was delicious without it. Fast, fresh veggies, inexpensive, and eat in your car. That basically sums it up.

My girlfriend and I plugged a search in Unilocal for the best pizza in the area. This place came up, and I can safely speak for the both of us when I say we are impressed. So let’s clear the air on this point — this is a terrific purveyor of flatbread pizzas. Not deep dish, and certainly not nasty sloppy Gioradano’s – esque orgies of sauce and cheese and dough. The BBQ beef pizza we enjoyed was flavorful, thoughtful, and well-executed. Hummus was fresh, and the raisin bread pudding was delightful. Fresh food and terrific ingredients made this a delight for an evening meal. Perhaps slightly pricey for take-out food, but the quality and heart are certainly worthy of the many five star reviews it has received so far. I am interested to see how this restaurant evolves in six months, and I challenge it to broaden its offerings and truly become inspired. Defy expectations! A solid four stars from me, but I truly hope they broaden their flavor profiles and aim for stardom.

Went here as a recommendation from a co-worker. Bit of a drive for me during lunchtime but sooooo worth it. Being the Food nerd that I am stopped in twice this week and like MC Hammer says it’s 2 legit 2 quit. I know that was lame! Whatever, this place is awesome. I have a lot of respect for this establishment and truly hope they stick to there motto of all homemade cause trust me it shows clearly in the taste and quality of end result. This is the kind of place that should be giving lectures across the street at Harper on how kitchens need to cook. Ok, Ill stop being long worded. Had the meatballs and Roasted Mushroom soup the other day. A++++++ Had the Sunshine salad today with chicken and Balsamic vinaigrette. A++++++ More info — had gluten free pizza and thank GOD someplace is making it so good that it tastes better than regular pizza. Absolutely amazing. Kudos Chef! Also had potato soup. tons of flavor and very creamy. Succotash the other day from them was amazing as well. almost all four food groups in one delicious bowl that I wish never ended.

Boom-ba-latty sure is fun to say. What’s just a great it’s also a fun takeout place with delicious food. I got the Melty Brie, half order Spinach Salad with homemade strawberry vinaigrette, Creole Mac and Cheese and Rum Raisin Breadpudding. The mac and cheese resembled more like a creamy bow tie pasta with spicy sausage, peppers and other crunchy bits in it. Breadpudding is also great, it’s got a condensed milk like coating and it seems that the bread has soaked up so much custard, it magically transforms into a dense cake. I love all the generous toppings and varietal ingredients. All the foods have multi-layers of texture, color, taste and smell. Even things I don’t like on their own: walnut, rum and raisin is so good! Most of the food is quite rich, so all you need to do is pick up a bottle of wine and you got yourself a lovely homemade gourmet meal to go.

This is a carry out/delivery spot. Everything here is made from scratch which I love. The guy working(possibly the owner?) gave my friend and I some split pea soup to try while we were waiting for our order. I normally don’t like split pea soup but it was definitely a hearty soup that I’d want to drink in the cold Chicago winter. We both ordered the Creole man & cheese. If you’re not a fan of black pepper, don’t get it. I love black pepper but I’m sure it can be too overpowering for others. The noodles were overcooked and the dish was like pasta with some cheese. There was plenty of meat in the dish though! I’m sure I’ll be back to try other dishes but was not impressed with the mac n cheese.

This place is legit. Best take out in Palatine, hands down. The guys inside are nice and if you are waiting for your food, they usually give you a free sample of another item on their menu. Their spinach and mushroom lasagna is probably the best I’ve tried. The meatball sub(get it with giardinara-you won’t be disappointed) is off the charts! All made fresh for you. Can’t say enough good things. Thanks for coming to Palatine, and also being a great delivery option on nights when I just don’t want to cook and still want to provide my family with a healthy option. It’s clear you take pride in what you do. Keep up the great work. Word is spreading!

Out of this world flavor says it all. I regret passing by for several months without stopping in sooner. We were greeted by the owner and felt like we were being invited into the chef’s own personal kitchen. While we were waiting he treated us with such hospitality — gracing us with samples of his Butternut Squash soup, Jalfrezi vegetables, and a bacon jelly /pâté. All super delicious with just the right about of bite and spice. I cannot wait to sample more from the menu. We had the Melty Brie, Spinach Salad, Mushroom Ragu Risotto and desserts — carrot raisin cake and brownie cheese cake swirl bar. I can not decide which one we liked best. Do not wait like I did — this place is going to be a regular place for us.

Wow I am so glad I took a chance on this place. I had high expectations based on the other reviews and the food even better than I had hoped. The bread pudding is perfect and so is the creole Mac. The flavor of the macaroni is so damn good and the level of spiciness is perfect. The spice just makes your mouth feel warm, I don’t know how they do it. The meatball sub was great but the meatball was too soft. I’ll cut em a break there because the flavor as dead on and this thing must weigh 2 lbs.

Absolutely AWESOME, to have a very nice delivery man hand me a fabulous handmade meal. Meatballs, Mozilla cheese, the thick yummy red sauce. I’d include a photo but I scarfed the hot food. How it stayed almost too hot temperature wise was amazing. Will be a faithful fan. All made from scratch. Yes.

Try this place!!! Everything was delicious and fresh, from the gooey Melty Brie to the home-made carrot cake. I could actually taste the spinach in the lasagna and the veggies were just the right amount of crunchy. John was very accommodating with a mixup on my delivery order; customer satisfaction is an obvious key ingredient here. I’m elated to have this healthy, tasty option in Palatine!

Amazing… hot, tasty, delivered with a smile. We ordered way too much food but tomorrow will be just a good because of leftovers! Spinach and artichoke ravioli AND dip. meatball sandwich, bread pudding(quite tasty) and carrot cake(in fridge… too much food). We tried the red potatoe soup but it was the only thing that didn’t quite resonate with our taste buds. We are looking forward to ordering from this awesome place again.

I definitely appreciate the efforts in creating food that is fresh and good for you. AND the service guys were fantastic. They really wanted us to have a great experience and gave a lot of recommendations. I wanted my pizza fast so I went with the recommendation for the house pizza. I had the boombalatti(sp?) signature slice of pizza… and it was not my favorite. It was soggy and I felt that there was WAAAAY too much going on. The flavors did not come together in a unified, well-crafted way. I felt like I was eating week– old pizza with all of my left overs dumped on top. The husband got two slices of a self– created, meat and cheese pie. Definitely better but suuuper greasy. We drenched several napkins taking off the glistening layer of atherosclerosis that coated the pizza slices. What was annoying was that there was absolutely NOPLACETOSITDOWN. Not even a little table inside or out to quick wolf down your meal. It is also a real pain getting in or out of this parking lot as it’s on Algonquin Road, poorly marked with no traffic light. We were given a sample of a cold cumber soup… very healthy but kind of bland… needed some basil or cliantro… Sooo not a terrible place but not sure I would go out of my way to return anytime soon… Would definitely pick my topping at my next visit.

Hallelujah! Finally an interesting new restaurant in our area! I rejoiced when I saw the great reviews on Unilocal and knew I had to go try it ASAP. Things to know — 1. This is a takeout/delivery restaurant. They deliver up to a 5 mile radius around them which is awesome. 2. All the food is handmade, from the ravioli pasta to the soups to the desserts. You can feel the love with every bite. It’s damn good cooking. 3. The guys behind this restaurant are really great at customer service. Very nice, great conversationalists, and they kept handing us free samples of food while we waited for our takeout. They genuinely seemed super pumped by their product and I love that. 4. They have awesome beverage choices — all in glass bottles — fanta, coca cola, 7 up, Perrier, jarritos, and my favorite water acqua panna. 5. Very generous portions at a great price. What we ordered: Chicken cacciatore — we order two portions of this not knowing how big this would be. It was four chicken thighs perfectly cooked Ina white wine sauce with mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, olives. It’s delish and I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Carrot Ginger Apple Soup — so fresh and refreshing, I love the ginger it gives so much flavor! Vegetable Soup — so good! Love the seasoning in it and how fresh it tastes! Rum raisin bread pudding — full.on.mouthgasm. Wow. I love bread pudding, but what I love even more than normal bread pudding is great bread pudding. Order it. Don’t care about your fancy no carb no sugar diet. Just do it — it’s that phenomenal. Carrot cake — very moist with a generous layer of cream cheese icing. Delish! Cheesecake brownie — love the combo, the cheesecake upper portion tasted like it had a bit of lemon zest, very subtle but great addition. I’ll be back for sure and you should too because their menu looks amazing! Next up on my list are their famous flat bread pizzas ;)

I am writing this as I am eating their…wait, I’ll get to that. I noticed that this place opened in a spot where a few other takeout joints tried and died. And in the winter. Serious cajones if you ask me. So on a spring day driving past, I figured, what the heck. Walking in the door, bam, smells gooooood. I mean GOOD! Whatever was cooking was fresh full of herbs and spices cuz’ this didn’t smell like takeout. The guys behind the counter immediately said hello and began to tell me what specials they had. I was grabbing a quick lunch, so they made a few suggestions. I decided on the Creole Mac and Cheese. While getting that going, the owner offered me a taste of their black bean veggie chili(nice move). Although I’m not a veggie chili guy, I’d eat that again. Next came a sample of their signature chunky blue cheese dressing with sauteed onions and garlic. Oh heck yeah! And for the coup de grace, a sampling of their candied bacon which goes into many of their dishes. You had me at bacon! Seriously, a nice touch chit chatting about the place and the free tastings. Off I went to eat my mac and cheese. The serving size is easily an entrée, or can be shared by two people. Of which I had all intention. Sorry Hun, you weren’t home. Let me tell you, this ain’t your momma’s mac and cheese. Andoille & Pancetta(chunks, yes, chunks), pepper jack, and habanero? Now before you sissies get all purple pillish, this has a little heat, but not enough to overpower the flavor, which is good. Really friggin’ good. I’d eat this again. Like in an hour. After a nap. If you have taken the time to read this far, let me say this place is good. I know, I only had one dish, but I will be back, often. Go here.

Wow!!! If you like gourmet quality take out food cooked entirely from scratch, this is the place!!! I’ve found nothing like it in the 15+ years I’ve lived in this area. Lately, I’ve found myself just growing tired of the same old chain restaurant food. I was starting to find my own cooking somewhat more appealing than the standard restaurant fare(and I’m far from a cook!). Don’t get me wrong, there are good restaurants in the area that have good food, but I just grew tired of the same old burger, wings, chicken sandwiches, etc. When a flyer arrived announcing the opening of Boombalatty Flats, that all changed. Chicken Cacciatore, Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna, Beef Stew reading through the menu it was instantly obvious this was no chain restaurant. I decided to give it a shot and called in my order for the the Beef Stew. When I arrived to pick up my order, the aroma from the kitchen confirmed I had made the right choice. I was immediately greeted by the owner /chef who was very friendly and I told him how excited I was about the restaurant and the amazing menu items. He was just as enthusiastic about the opening, and it was easy to see this is a man who has a passion for his craft. While waiting for my order, I was offered a sample of the Split Pea soup. It was out of this world… Perfectly cooked chocked-full with all the little bits of tender ham and vegetables mixed into a broth that had the perfect consistency. My father used to cook this stuff the old fashion way with the ham bone and all. I haven’t had it for a long time. Because it is so hard to make, I’ve tried the supermarket canned brands– even the expensive ones, but they left me believing maybe I didn’t like pea soup after all. Well I can tell you after having Boombalatty Flats’ Pea Soup– I absolutely love it. If the pea soup is this good, I can’t wait to try the other soups. As for the main course, the Beef Stew was amazing. In fact it was the best Beef Stew I have ever had, bar none. The wine-sauce gravy was spot on. My dish was loaded with big chunks of tender quality beef, chunky potatoes, onions, carrots, celery and all the goodness that makes a perfect stew. It will be hard to order anything but the stew for a while. I am sincerely excited about having such a high-quality restaurant in the local area. It’s home-cooked meals, cooked by a gourmet chef and at very reasonable prices. Nothing else I know of compares to it.
