DON’T GOTHEPLACEISCLOSED… I used to take items here and find fun things… I called last Sunday to check to see if they were open the machine said Monday to Saturday. I left a message saying update your Unilocal hours… Today Saturday I went and the store is empty no sign no note no nothing. I hope the owner is in good health and no emergency caused this. But would of been nice to have the voice mail updated and Unilocal

I think the owner, Jasmine, DOES in fact, have a great eye. I trust that she knows what sells and what doesn’t. And if you walk into the shop, you will see quickly that there is something for everyone there. There are all kinds of décor styles and many different price points. I am a re-styler and have picked up some wonderful treasures for myself that I proudly display in my own home. Like any shop, it can be hit or miss, but I almost always find something to bring home!

I was hoping to find consignment gold here, and while there were a few items I’d tossed around in my head, the almost insultingly high prices on most items had me gasping and grabbing for an inhaler that wasn’t handy. The owner was plenty friendly and I even watched her lug an absolute monster of an entertainment center to another customer’s car, and there was no shortage of things in the store, but they didn’t seem any better quality or a better menagerie than Good Will. Some examples of items I saw: *** Right in the store window there was one of those reusable bags that stores give away for free, not even the fabric kind, the kind that’s basically pinstripes of dental floss covered in that wax-y kind of material — the same stuff giant bags of rice are made of, only it wasn’t free here. It was tattered and worn on top of already being the most basic version of something you’d already get for free, being sold for $ 6.50. I thought that was just the craziest thing I’d ever seen until I had to think that someone out there brought that in here thinking it was worth something, and then another person had to agree that they thought it was worth something and then price it at $ 6.50, which is roughly $ 6.49 more than it’s actually worth. *** An old, dusty baby food jar ¾ full of about 12 random, plain buttons and more dust, on sale from $ 4.50 to $ 3 *** $ 29 for a print of a random toddler laying down in a bed with his eyes eerily open. *** $ 99 — hold up — NINETY-NINEDOLLARS for a used Conair bathtub attachment that’s supposed to emulate the power of having one single whirlpool jet in your home tub that cam in and opened and beat up box that looks about 12 years old. I don’t even know where to start with this, but I guess by pointing out how unsanitary it is. Why would anyone pay $ 100 for a used bathtub accessory that, let’s be real, probably got some R to X-rated used before, when they could go up the street to Bed, Bath and Beyond and get a brand new one for less? It just doesn’t make sense. *** There was one orangutan lamp that I really liked, but it was still $ 50 and had this giant pineapple thing hanging off it that I thought took away from the orangutan a little too much. After an item has been there for 90 days, it then becomes half-off, but of the items I looked at, none were even close to that 90 day mark and even at half off they’d need to throw in some gift wrap or something to entice with the still lofty price. I know running a consignment store has to be tough on so many levels, so I have to give it up to the owner for that and for being so friendly to those who were perusing the store, but if I wanted to drop that kind of cash on merch that’s been fingered by a million people before me, I’d cut out the middle man and go straight to HomeGoods on a Saturday afternoon.

I had been curious about this place for a few months now, and my husband, son, and I found ourselves driving by on a Saturday morning, so we decided to stop in. In my person experience, I was not impressed at all. I found one thing that I might have bought, but I wasn’t «sold» on it anyway, so I put it back. I saw a lot of overpriced items(such as a children’s hardcover book with a lot of wear and tear for $ 4!!) so I didn’t feel bad walking out empty-handed. Resale stores are generally supposed to be inexpensive, yes? I guess they didn’t get the memo.

I have been to this store a couple times and didn’t enjoy it at all. I love vintage items and unique antiques… someones review mentioned that she has a good eye for things… i completely disagree. I felt that the store was unorganized and messy. Also, the owner was kinda rude to me as well. Won’t be visiting that place again.

Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad. As a customer: I bought over $ 80 on my first visit there. The shop was empty. You would think this large purchase would elicit some kind of positive reaction from the clerk. She was stony faced and bordered on rude. As a consignor: Even after that first experience, I decided to try consigning with the shop because the shop looked nice and the items matched, in many cases, the quality of what I sell online as a vintage seller with 10 years experience and 1,000s of sales. I brought in several boxes of high-quality vintage items selected specifically with the suburban shopper in mind to match the location of the shop. Of the 50 or so items I lugged there, the again unfriendly clerk(who I now found out is the owner) selected 6. She then informed me after I filled out the paperwork and took the products behind the counter that she prices them after I leave and with no input from me. So basically I have no clue what she’s pricing them at, so I have no idea if she’s honestly giving me the 50% of my cut. I thought hey, it’s only 6 items, what the heck I’ll just see how it goes. It’s a 50⁄50 split commission. Fast forward 3 months. I sell 4 of the 6 and make about $ 20. I don’t know which, but she sold several items for $ 1. Nothing I brought in had a retail value of less than $ 15. Even after her 60-day price reduction, NOTHING should have sold for that little. And if I had known that would be the price, I never would have consigned. My advice? Even though it may seem a hassle to list your own items on CL, Etsy or eBay, if you have things of worth, sell them yourself. This place is definitely not worth it at all. Extra note: even though the paperwork clearly says you can pick up your consignments anytime within the 90 days, expect to fight to do that if it’s before 90 days and be accused of trying to scam the shop owner. Ugh. Terrible experience. The only good thing about this place? The new clerk is friendly. The owner should do herself a favor and show transparency when pricing or maybe stick to the back office.

I’ve had more time to revisit this store a few times & here’s an update: The owner does have a good eye & is very good at staging/arranging/choosing items. A couple of the items are too pricey for the condition that they are in, but the majority of the items are in very nice condition and the prices are fair. Items seem to be on a schedule of discounts so if they are there awhile they become less expensive. I appreciate that. There is currently a 50% off sale on summer items which makes a lot of them a good bargain & it may be possible to find some items for $ 5 or less with this sale. This store is worth checking out on a regular basis because each time I’m in it seems like there are new things. There are things that are of many different styles/tastes from traditional to retro to modern. I would like to see more reclaimed items, repurposed items, metal items, true vintage pieces(50s, 60s), chairs, & maybe even a section of «As-Is» items – items that are broken/need reupholstering or repairing, but they’re super inexpensive. The store always has new items so I’m sure I’ll see many of those things soon. It’s worth your time to come to Schaumburg to check out this store. You can also check out WINGS resale(Salem & Higgins), Kenneth Young resale(Roselle & Wise) & Shelter Inc Resale(Roselle & Weathersfield), & Used to Be New(roselle & Hartman – in Taco Bell shopping center) Furniture while you’re here. And of course – IKEA. :)(McConnor PKwy & Meacham)

Jasmine is the best! Do yourself a favor and see her consignment store! Her inventory is inexpensive, but not cheap! Jasmine prides herself on properly pricing every item in her store. This is a consignment store, not a barter shop. The very cool aspect of her shop is that she places most, if not all, products on Craig’s List. This way a little comparison shopping goes a long way; :-)
