They refuse to accept returns. Flat out refuse and send you elsewhere — typically to their corporate counterpart in Deer Park. Mock my words if you ever want to return a product you’re going to hear this: «sorry our return system/register isn’t working» or «the system can’t process returns right now» or «we don’t have enough cash/money in the drawer» it’s always something. Funny how the system/register never has a problem ringing sales up. If you’re going to sell something then stand behind it. I strongly encourage you to just go to the Deer Park GNC up the road.

The lady wasn’t super helpful and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Stood was a little old and run down. It was clean but could use a simple update. The prices were normal but there weren’t any deals. Good if you know what you want and can get it for a good price. Easy access and parking.

I came in here looking for a specific product which i was holding off on buying online. It would have cost me about $ 8 plus shipping which was minimal for my order. The lady that«helped» me made my experience so impersonal. She could clearly give two shits about what i needed and projected nothing but a salesperson’s attitude. She didn’t want to listen to anything i was saying and was telling me to buy the GNC brand of what i needed which was $ 30 compared to the 8. BUTWAIT! THERE’S MORE! When i said never mind and thanked her for showing me she said she would give me a special price, «just for me» of half off. At this point i almost started considering it because i would have to wait for the shipping, even though it was almost double in price. Then she started really trying to make the sale which pushed me away and when she could see that she immediately lost interest in me and ran over to her previous customers to try an make a sale, with a faint mumble of ok bye under her breath. GNC will now never get my business. However, i am grateful that she reminded me why i was such a loyal customer of The Vitamin Shoppe for so long. Normally i say to go in for yourselves and Unilocal it, but this one isn’t even worth the time.

Very poorly run store. They don’t even honor the prices they put on items. Skip this one and go to a corporate run GNC. Their corporate stores are typically well run and don’t have issues.

Went in to get a cyto sport protein product and was looking for a flavor other than vanilla or chocolate as most gncs or vitamin shoppes do carry other flavors. The older Indian lady/owner said they don’t make the other flavors anymore which is not true. Then I noticed monster milk on sale for 26.99 which is a great deal so I decided to purchase one. After the usual sales pitch u get at gnc consisting of a condescending way of trying to sell more stuff u don’t want or need, she finally rang me up. being rang up it originally scanned for 26.99(the correct advertised sale price) then she manually changed the price to the original price of 50 something and then proceeded to say oh I’ll fix the price and changed it to 37 something. I said the sign says 26.99 she then says«oh no I can’t do 26.99 on monster milk I will lose money’ I’ll give it to u for 33»(the sign clearly said sale monster milk 26.99 and also that what it originally rang up as). I said no that’s alright, u should really take down the sign. She says«I did» and I’m thinking to myself ok… that’s strange cuz I just saw it and that’s y I decided to buy one. All I have to say is wwwoooow, seriously lady? Look at the other review too, I’m sure that girl was dealing with the same lady who I believe is the owner. That is really sad that u represent ur business like that. Im sure gnc doesnt want their franchises to be represnted like that and i could have made a big deal of it or complained to corporate but its not worth it. I would not shop here or recommend anyone ever to shop here either. Guarantee u this place will be gone soon just like a lot of other businesses around palatine that dont last long especially ones that r as poorly managed and have as poor business practices as this place. I’ll just stick with the chocolate and buy it from Costco where u get an xtra pound for the same price.

I went in today to get some emergen-c lite. They didn’t have it, but did have some chewable calcium vitamins my dr. Had told me to get. I noticed the price under the package on the shelf, 10.98 in bright red. I went to check out. Clerk: these are buy one get one half off(she picks out a second additional b12 chewable) Me: how much are they Clerk: these are b12, they are excellent for …(she goes on about different benefits) me: how much are they? clerk: 22.99, so you will get the other one for 7.98 Me: I don’t want those Clerk: that will be 15.33 Me: I thought they were 10.98 Clerk: no you are looking at the wrong price, here I will show you … Se right here, 10.98, that is for these, vitamin c. Me: um… ok, I will just get these. I check out, and as I am walking out I stop again at the shelf where the chewable a are. A nice blue sign, about 1“x5″ that says: chewable calcium tablets, member price 10.98, regular price 11.99. Me: it says right here, regular price 11.99? Clerk: oh, that’s old, price went up. Price is more now mamm. I forgot to take off the sale price from the shelf. I walk out dumbfounded. About two minutes later, I walk back in, Me: I want to return this Clerk: sure, ok… In can show you online the price went up. Me: absolutely not. She starts pulling cash out of the drawer. Me: I paid with discover, you have to credit my card. Clerk: oh, um, just a minute, here see, this receipt says I voided the transaction. It’s like nothing ever happened. Me: do I get a copy of this? Clerk: no this is my copy Me: can you print another one? You should be able to reprint from your terminal. Clerk: mamm, you do not understand, credit card receipts cannot be reprinted, employees could steal all your credit information. Me: I need a copy of that. Clerk: just a moment. She pulls out packing tape, tapes it to a piece of paper, and try’s to run it through her fax. When it fails she says, just a minute, I will be right back, leaves the store, comes back 30 seconds later, and says«she will make you a copy. A minute later an employee from a different business comes in with my copied receipt saying the transaction has been voided. I leave the store. I get home, check my card online, and the charge is still there. I could do a huge rant on this, but I won’t, I think the account speaks for itself. Btw, I manage a retail store, so I know that a one star review is completely warranted in this case.

The owners and staff know their products! Great place to get advice on supplements and vitamins!
